The Other Side Of Istanbul Turkey They Don’t Show You!!

Good afternoon my beautiful people from Istanbul,
Turkey. Right now we are on the European side but I need to get to that side. Kadikoy brother.
Brother, how to go to Kadikoy? Ferry. They have a ferry. Ferry. Okay. Thank you so much, bro. So,
I’m actually going to be taking a ferry today. are here on the Bosphorus Strait. This beautiful body
of water that separates Istanbul from the European side and the Asian side. Normally when you see
Istanbul, you see the European side. But today, we’re going to go check out the Asian side.
There’s an area known as Kadicho or something like that, which I was told to go check out. So,
I have to take a boat from here. I’m going to go figure out how to get a ferry, and then we got to
go over there. So, this looks like it’s a little uh ferry station. And I think you basically just
have to And I have a city card. This Istanbul city card. I think this works. Yeah, this one.
Okay, let’s see if this city card works. Okay. Okay. I have no idea what he said, but
let’s see. One of these boats will take us to Kadicho. Kadicho. Look at the cats. Oh,
some big cats. In Istanbul, the cats are like uh unofficial citizens, basically. Look
at this. Big boat is pulling up now. He’s making a U-turn. I think he’s going to dock
it and then we get onto the ferry from here. The public transportation system in Istanbul
is amazing. You have metros, trams, buses, uh, of course taxis, which are expensive,
and then you also have fairies because this all along the water. So, all right.
Here we go. Onto the taxi falam. All right. So, you can sit inside, but I’m going
to sit outside. Definitely should put on a jacket, though, cuz it’s cold. Oh, look at this.
They even have a little snack bar in the thing. Amazing. This is the indoor seating. Sit
in here. Also get a view. Like everything else in uh in Turkey. So clean, well organized,
wellmaintained. That is the one thing. Amazing. Look at this. The guy comes around
and serves drinks, tea, juices. But let’s go, guys. Let’s get on our way. 50 L, which is
like a little bit more than a dollar. You can take a ferry across the city. Such
a like I don’t know. I just find it so nice. Not a lot of cities have this, you know?
Obviously, you have to have a water that runs through your city to have this. And Istanbul
has this. That’s Europe. And that is Asia. All righty, guys. We’re arriving at the
Besita Beskas station. So, from here, I’m going to change, get onto another ferry, which will take me to the area that we’re
supposed to go to. Kadicho, Katcoy, Kadicho, something like that. I don’t know how to say it.
But here we are. Very cool looking ferry stations. Hey, man. Yeah, it’s GoPro. He say
hello. What up? The guy was like, “What is this?” Like, “Turn it on.” [Music] Finally arrived to the Kajikoy area. We are
no longer in Europe. Europe. Bye-bye. Asia. Hello. So, technically this is known as
the Asian side, but also the Anatolian side. Anatoli just comes from the Greek word
which means east, east of the Bosphorus. So, the European side is on the west of the Bosphorus
straight. And this side is on the east of the Bosphorus. And the locals will say that this area
is a bit more chill than the European side. And I can kind of feel that too. A little bit less
touristy, but obviously it’s still a hot spot. [Music] Now [Music] on the body, [Music] these street performers like are so
good. This guy should be like, you know, performing in stadiums. He’s out here just
performing on the pier. You should go follow him, though. I left his information there. But it’s
amazing, man. Some of these street performers have so much talent. Oh, yes. I’m a little
bit hungry. This guy has some of the bread, the best bread in Istanbul right here.
This one’s really good. I like this one, but I haven’t tried these other ones.
I think I’m going to try this one. brother. Uh, this one is a tomato. This one uh tomato cheese cheese
pizza pizza. Okay. One. How much, brother? 14. 14 liter or dollars? No. Turkey.
Turkish par 40. [Music] No problem. All right, let’s try out this uh street pizza. This street
Istanbul street pizza. Let’s see how it is. Very nice. Very, very nice. I love these breads, man.
Turkey has such good bread. Look at this dog just chilling here while
everyone is walking by. Only in Turkey are stray animals like they’re very loved. So, we’ll
just see. Hey, hello. How are you? So this right here is like the busy tourist street. If you
look, you could see how many people there are. I try to find places in Istanbul that aren’t so touristy, that might not be as like
crazy, but every place is so busy. I guess there is no uh dull
moment here in this city. These potatoes the biggest potato I’ve ever
seen. [Music] Biggest potatoes I’ve ever seen in my life. Look at these. It’s the size of
my head. So before this place was Byzantine, before the Ottoman Empire, before all of that,
this was known as the city of Chaledon. Along with Chaledon, it was also known as the city
of the blind. The reason why is cuz when the people who went to go conquer Constantinople,
which is now Istanbul, the European side, they passed this side and they said, “How could these
people not conquer Constantinople, but instead come to this side first?” So they said they must
be blind for not seeing how beautiful the European side is. But honestly I would beg that both of
the sides are beautiful in their own way but at that time maybe that side looked more beautiful
and they were kind of wondering like why would somebody want this land when you have something
so beautiful right across the street of Bosphorus. So very interesting to see where those uh so
that’s why they call it city of blind. It’s not because there was a lot of blind people here or
something like that. They even have these little old school tram cars running through the city.
You can take it. Yes sir. Where are you from? I am from Turkey. Where? Istanbul. Yes. Istanbul
Kadikoy is a very nice bro. Nice to meet you. What’s your name? Sullean. Sullean. Mashallah.
Stay in school bro. Where you from? A I’m from American. America. But originally my family is
Pakistani. Pakistan. Yes. America. Pakistan. Yes. Okay. Okay bro. Okay. Bye-bye. These kids like
asking me where you from, where you from. Oh no, dogs are fighting. So this right here is the
famous bull statue of Kajikoy. This is like the city center. When you see this bull statue,
that means you are in the Kajikoy area. And it was actually built in Paris in the 1800s and then
they moved it here. So it was made in Paris. So it was like a gift given to them or something.
Kind of like the Statue of Liberty almost. But yeah, this this area is popping, man. I
didn’t know. I thought it was like a more chill, but this area looks more busy than
Sultan. You know what? As I’m walking, I see this little cafe. I’m going to stop
and get a coffee. They have coffee free. [Music] This is not really free, huh? It’s a joke. I was going to say nothing is free in this world anymore. Is uh what’s
the coffee? Coffee. Yeah. Yeah. Latte. Hot. Hot latte. Yes. Thank you. Two
shot. Double shot. Double shot. Yes. Thank you. I can sit here. Okay. Thank you.
Rugada where they have free coffee. Here we go, guys. So, normally in Turkey, you
should have a Turkish coffee, which I’ve been doing, but honestly, I’ve had enough of Turkish
coffee and it’s very strong and it’s getting late, so I don’t want to, you know, stay up all night.
Thank you, bro. Thank you. The bottle of water, of course. So, uh let’s let’s try it out. But
there’s really good coffee in Turkey so far. And this is no exception. Very yummy. So guys, you
know, I drink coffee in every one of my videos. And sometimes people get annoyed by it. Some
people love it. You know, coffee brings stories. Coffee brings revolutions. Actually in Turkey,
coffee was banned three times throughout its history because coffee shops were a place where
people would talk about like the government and come up like rebellions would start, revolutions
would start. So coffee is very important, guys. And I’m thinking about should I have my
own like coffee cup, something that I come out with like a coffee mug or a flask? Would you guys
buy it? Um cuz I’m thinking about doing that. I feel like it’s so aligned with my my brand, you
know? Every video I have coffee, so this one is really good. Shout out to Rugada Rugada Cafe.
You guys should come here if you’re ever in the Kadikoy area. So now we’re actually entering our
area known as Tel Zade Antique Street. So this street is full of shops that have like different
antiques from all over the world. Look at these clocks. I wonder how old some of these things
are. I’m always curious to see antiques, you know. Some of these are from I don’t
even know where these are from. Have some old artwork. Is this like Oh, this is like a original.
This Ottoman. Yes. Original. Original. Wow. What? Which one is the oldest piece you have
in here? The oldest one. Oldest one. Yeah. All together. It’s all very old. Which time?
From which time? Like Ottoman? 18th century, 19th century? Century. Wow. And all of these
things are from Turkey or from different places? Yes. Uh French and Turkish? Turkish.
Ah. And you are a collector? No. Uh, is shopping bus? Ah, this your business. Ah, very
nice. I’m making a video about this area. I just wanted to see some antiques. Wow. Clinicing. Yes. Oh, cave
clinic dress. From which time? 19th century. 19th century. Yeah. Wow. From from
Turkey. From Turkey. Yeah. But Arab Arab original. Oh, this sheriff name is clinic.
Oh. For cleaning the cabba. Yes. Oh, this was used to clean the cabba from the long
time ago. Wow. Amazing. How much? How much? Uh dollars uh $500 $500. Huh. Okay. Very nice. We
are family business. Family business. My grandpa, my uncles. A long time. Yeah. So some of these
pieces your grandpa he he find it and Yeah. Yeah. A little bit. Little bit we buy. How do how
do you find these pieces? Is this just like all old world all Europe, France, antique fairs,
film brokans? So you have to travel and then you you enjoy this work. Yeah, I like it’s it’s like
a passion, right? Yes, me too. This is my work, but it’s my passion. Yeah, very nice to meet you
guys. Best of luck inshallah. Thank you. Wow, such nice people. What’s the name of your
shop? Ian Antique. Ian. Ihan Antique and Instagram Osman Antique. Osman Antique.
So guys, if you’re ever in this telad, you can come visit them. They’re very nice
people. Thank you so much. Salamkum. Can I see? Of course. Thank you. You take the
photo. It’s okay. Yes, of course. It’s okay. This is This is nice GoPro. You can ah
here. That’s you. You can say hello. See from this side. No, no. I show you.
Okay. You be the vlogger. Now you’re a YouTuber. You work now. It’s working.
Yeah, it’s it’s you you can turn turn it for if you turn like this like this
way, then you can see like this. You see? Oh, you have to be careful in this shop. So many
things. He’s a YouTuber now. YouTuber? Yeah, he’s a new YouTuber for you.
No, not me. He’s YouTuber. Yeah, it is crazy man. Crazy man. Yeah.
Really? What did you say? Yes. Thank you, bro. Thank you so much. This is your
shop. Yeah, this show. This is This is a bit old. Yeah, this uh this old man. This old man.
Yes. He’s the oldest. What time is this from? Which time? Like Ottoman. No, French. French.
Okay. Okay. from 1800. Yes. Ah, okay. I have to be careful in this shop. If I break something,
then I can’t replace it. So, I’m going to get out of here. This is about 80 years old. Oh, how old?
80. Yes. Yes. Oh, okay. No more 100 years old. 20 years old. Is museum is You cannot sell it. Yes.
Of this old French. French. So anything more than 100 years old, you have to put it in the museum.
Yes. After and they lock it, put it in the museum. Six years. What’s your name, brother? Jiad. Jiad.
My name is Maher. Nice to meet you, bro. You sir. Hello. This place here. We can have it. Bye-bye.
Bye-bye. You’re a vlogger. You’re a YouTuber. This looks good. Kurolus 1968. So this
place this place has been around since 1968. I don’t know what they have. It looks good. Alhamdulillah. Very good. What is What do
you have here? This Turkish p. Can I have this one? This one. This one. What’s your special
What’s your special food? Okay. Number one. Which one? Number one. Everything. You You tell
me. Uh I sit down which one I can get. Okay. Uh which pa? Pa pa. Cheese
pa. Cheese pa. Okay. Cheese. Cheese pa. Half. Half. Okay. No. Full. Full.
Okay. Uh. Okay. Cheese. Uh. Cheese. And this one. Cheese and beef. Cheese and
beef. Cheese. No beef. What is this? One, please. Can I sit here? Sit here. Okay. Look at this, man. It’s cool. You get a nice view
of the restaurant. You can see the guys cooking up, so you know where the food is coming from
direct from the oven to your mouth, guys. So, here is the Turkish p from Borsam Borsam Tashirin.
Guys, if you guys are in the Kajikoy area, you can come and try this out. This is my first
time trying this place, but everybody here is really cool. So, so basically what it is, it’s
almost like a pizza. It’s a Turkish version. So, you get some bread, a light crust, some
mozzarella cheese, a little bit of beef, some tomatoes, some vegetables, and a
lot of goodness. Let’s see. Let’s see. [Music] for 300 or 400. They give you so much. This
you can eat two people, but I’m only one. So, squeeze some lemon on there. So, if
you want this, you got to come here. Although this is a touristy area, I will say
you could still find some good prices around here like for food, coffee, drinks, if you
go into like the little inside enclaves, you can find some good prices compared to
Sultan Ahmed in that area which is I think a little bit more touristy and more expensive
than this area. So at one time this place was, you know, full of history like I mentioned, but
now it’s become more of like the artist hangout, like the hipster area. you know, a lot of
little dive bars and vintage antique shops, record shops, all of that stuff. So, it’s
like a kind of known as like the the artist stronghold. You can call it like the hippie,
the hipster area of Istanbul. Fresh juice, huh? Yes. Which one is your special? Pomegranate,
orange. Pomegranate. I will take one pomegranate, please. You mix? Yes, you can mix if you want. Is
pomegranate better mix or pomegranate and orange? It’s a good mix. I trust you. How much this
size? Uh, small is okay. This one? Yeah. 110. 110. Okay. 110 Turkish LRA. That’s about not
even $3. Something like that. So, by the way, this is what Turkish LRA looks like. And he makes
it the old school way. You see, he presses it with this old You don’t use the new machine.
Look at that. Fresh pomegranate orange juice. Amazing. Amazing. Very good. Hello.
Hello. This your shop? Modafresh? Yes. Okay. Very good. Thank you,
brother. Thank you so much. And here we are, guys, at the beautiful Moda
Pier. And actually, there’s fairies that land right here. So, you can take a ferry boat from
different parts of the city and you can come here. So when we actually came here before we came into
the um from the straight of Bosphorus and now we were actually on the sea of Marmara. This is the
sea here. So the straight actually leads out into the sea and the Bosphorus straight connects the
Black Sea and the Mediterranean. So it’s uh very important water guys and it’s absolutely stunning.
It’s beautiful here. They have cafes as well. And you can sit down and get a nice view. But
I’ve had enough coffee today. So, I’m just going to show you guys this view. Oo, it’s a little bit
breezy now that the evening is upon us. The sun has gone down. The breeze is blowing. I feel a
little bit cool, but it’s a nice nice vibe here, guys, at the Moda Pier. But this is definitely
where you want to end your trip in Kadikoy. You know, come to the pier, hang out, get a nice view.
And by the time it’s been in this beautiful sa Asian side of Turkey in Kajikoy, I think I’m
saying that right, guys. You can correct me if I’m wrong, locals, Turkish people. Um, but
yeah, had a wonderful time here in this area, guys. And I would highly recommend visiting
this area. Obviously, you’re going to go to the European side. That’s where everybody goes.
But this side will give you a little bit of a different feeling, different perspective. And
you know, there’s so many sides of Istanbul that you have to discover. I’m trying to show
you guys as much as I can. But remember guys, I got other Istanbul videos. If you haven’t
seen those, go check those out. I’ll leave the link right here. And I’m going to end the
video here, guys. Remember, continue to learn, continue to grow, and there is no growth until
you leave your comfort zone. More Istanbul videos, more Turkey videos coming soon. So stay tuned.
I’ll see you guys on the next one. He’s out.

  1. Istanbul is probably among the most beatiful cities in the world! But taxi drivers are primitive, agressive and sooo greedy – and definitely unreliable! They think that in your pockets you are holding their money! They are entitled to any tricks to take it back! I hope this changes – such a shame for the beautiful city!

  2. I'm from Palestine. I love Turkey. It's very beautiful. For 12 years I always travel to Turkey. This August, I was there. I even learned the Turkish language. I enjoyed your video cuz I went to kadiköy. But I always stay at the European side. Enjoy your time

  3. Stockholm has ferries. We took one from the Gamlas stan area over to where the Vasa museum is. Wonder if my Starbucks app would work there.

Coffee is the first thing I have in the morning. FYI, espresso has less caffeine than brewed coffee. The water has less contact with the beans so less caffeine is pulled.

  4. Tqvm Myer for your vlog . Makes my feet itchy again to fly to Türkiye . Been there twice but not to Kardikoy . In my bucket list now. Come over to SEA , 💜from Singapore . 💜💜💜🥳

  5. Very nice. I noticed that for a Muslim country there are a lot of clean shaven men. I like that.. in the Muslims countries I have seen on YT, the men are all bearded up. They all look the same.

  6. Stop greeting everyone with "Selamın aleykum" in places like Kadıköy and İzmir. Those areas are seriously secular. Especially Kadıköy. A lot of people there don't like the religious greeting "Selamın Aleyküm."

  7. You can use a ferry to cross the Bosphorus from the European side to the Anatolian side, but you don't "need" to use a ferry! There are three bridges accross Bosphorus and you can see them from anywhere along the Bosphorus if you look up. There's also the Marmaray, which runs "under" the sea. You are "… going to the Asia side of Turkey known as Kadikoy"????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Asia side of Turkiye is known as Anadolu (Anatolia/Asia Minor) and consists of most of the Republic of Türkiye. Asia side of İstanbul is known as Anadolu Yakası and Kadıköy is a small part of it. Just a suggestion, maybe you first learn it before you tell it? BTW I just watched the beginning of the video.

  8. This guy embarrassingly acts like a lost tourist and speaks English to locals! And he's trying to show us around Istanbul? WTH? Did you see that dismissive look of disgust on that Turkish man's face? Why isn't he at the ferry station like everyone else? They're big enough to find. All today's traveler needs to do is download a good Turkey guidebook and a translation app to their phone and bypass this buffoon. I arrived in Kadikoy in 1990 and have lived in Türkiye ever since. I can assure you that the Asian side of Istanbul is very well known. It is the bedroom of Istanbul. People live there and commute to the city. Steadily, the city is encroaching on this part of the Asian side.

  9. I wonder how many bodies are in the Bosphorus straights…. The new Sultan used to take the old sultans entire family and dump them in that body of water. To guard against attempts to take over the throne.

  10. The Ottoman Turks the one who interduced Coffe Culutures to Europe,, when Europien was killing each other.. at the time Catolics against prostante.. othdox against Boths..

  11. Dude kadikoy is the turkification of the Greek word Chalkidona it was built by the Greeks from Megara and is called by Herodotus the city of the blind because they did not pick up the opposite side and left it to their compatriots to settle it. The name of their leader was Byzantas hence Byzantium.
