Walking Through 4000 Years in Old Jaffa

Guys, I’m with Arez Giron and guess what? We
are now in Jaffa. Arez. Hello. Hi everyone. So, we are now starting the tour
in the city of Jaffa. One of   the icons of the city is the tower just
behind me. H. This tower was built by for not by by the people who live here by the
people here in 1900. 19003 or 196 that still out still in the year 1900. Yes. This sharp
year. Yes. That was celebrating 25 years of Abdel Hammed II in rule. Yeah. and he was very
fond of clocks. So he built all over the Ottoman Emperor 200 200 clock towers. Five of five of
them in Israel. And this is just one of them. Now if you can look around, you see the street
here is very very wide. When we go inside Java, we see that that is very very odd. The reason for
the street here to be so wide here was the moat of the city Jaffa h just before the walls were
destroyed and Japa become very very big h this the world of Japa was something over there was the
most yeah we are going to see okay okay so we are going to tour Jafa yeah that’s what you’re right
okay now um all right now told me something that I loved he said that this is the doctor area
and I said to myself I don’t remember it like that and then he say yes there’s a doctor for for
Shakshuka you’re going to see them and yeah but it’s in Hebrew yeah but maybe I hope it will be
also yeah all right but doctor for shisha doctor for nila it’s all about food and smoking nothing
is uh is for real but uh it’s lovely it’s a lovely But we are crossing to there. Oh, we are. Okay.
So, we are now walking and we will enter Jaffa from the gate at the time when uh Jaffa still
have walls. Okay. Yeah. And it was the only gate of Jaffa. The idea is that no one will be able to
go out and in or in um by the order of the ruler who been here. All all the cities in Israel till
the middle of the 19th century were fortified. So uh Jaffa as well was a city surrounded
by walls and we are going to enter uh the city h if you we look this this street
at the time of the wall it’s surround Jaffa and enter the port then actually that car just
enter into the wall and you can see it by the street you can see that this this is kind of
different kind of of tiles that one. The other one and the third one that is this is emphasize
this emphasize the walls. So this symbolize the wall that surrounded Jaffa. Okay. Look continued
but it was all right then. Three two one that car just enter into the wall and we are now going
to enter Jaffa through the old gate. Let’s go. If I ask someone from Israel, do you know where is   the only gate and the name of the
gate of Jaffa? You will say no. I think this is it. Yeah. Uh okay. For those
of you that remember uh one of the most famous gate in Jerusalem, what his name? Just a gate,
sir. Just a gate. Coincidence. In old times, uh, in old times, the gate were called by the name
of the city that they would approach. Jaffa gate leads to Jaffa. Damascus gate. Jaffa gate. Zang
gate. And I will tell you Babel Khalil. Babel Khalil in Jerusalem. Khal in Arabic is Yeah. And
the name of Jaffa gate in English in Arabic it’s which means and look above you Eris you can see
part of the garden tower. Wow. Yeah. Nice. The inner garden tower. And look how wide is the um
gate. Yeah. This is like like if you remember the gate in Jerusalem. It’s supposed to be big because
people want to get in. They have to be checked. Sometimes people will sell things just outside
the gate. So this is a place like in between you can come, they don’t let you get into the city,
but you can still sell and buy things here just at the enter to the city. Yeah. But if you’re
talking about a a gate, Jaffa gate in Jerusalem, it’s like two seconds and you are already inside
the city. And look how wide is that? This is still part of the gate. So all this all this uh place
is just entering the city. We are still inside the gate. Yeah. And just now we are entering Jaffa.
Please stamp your passport. We are entering. And if we’re talking about stamps passport,
what’s the name of the street? Look at that. Aim the exchange. Exchange money.
Yeah. Yeah. This is And let me let me show you one more thing. eras. It’s
not the end of the wall. Let’s continue. It actually tells us that Jaffa was more important
than Jerusalem. There were times. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, this is the center. I I have a question
that we’ll answer maybe in 40 minutes from now. All right. I just want to No, no. What What
is the question that people will try to figure   out? Okay. Question. Yeah. I will show you the
map of Israel and I will ask you how come that Jaffa was so important. How come how come the
the the the port that we have here that we’ll see later is one of the poorest in all the the
land of Israel. How come that already from the time of the Bible and even before it [ __ ] was
so important? We answer it later. All right. Oh, look at that. That’s so many special people in
in in Jaffa. This is a one of them, artists. Um, wait, I’m walking. If you can show this building,
I will show them that building. Uh, Jaffa uh was uh conquered by Israel in 1948. Mhm. Most of the
city most of the pe the Arab people flee to other Arab countries and it was quite neglected till the
year 2000. Okay. In the year 2000 the city of Tel Aviv decided to promote Jaffa. They tell artists
please take any room even when start making your art. And from since then people realized that this
building are magnificent. And since then people uh rich people buy these buildings uh renovate
them. Did nothing with it as you can see. No no renovate old building. It’s not that one. This is
this one is I think it’s start to be renovated. H for many years it looks like that. Okay. But we’ll
see just But but let me tell you something about that building. Yeah. I don’t know who owns it, but
look at the sandstone which is the local stone. Yeah. Now, it’s so easy to curve it. It’s so easy
to deal with it. And look how strong it is. This is the first floor. Mhm. Second floor. And then
there is a a concrete floor which is very heavy. Uhhuh. And still it’s actually looks okay. the the
you can come with me. I will come with you. This is the local stone we have around the shore of
Israel. It combine of sand that like stick to one another. It’s a very very good stone for a couple
of reason. It’s very hard but since it’s just made of sand, it’s very easy to chisel it. Yeah. And
then you see the holes it make it even make it like the uh very meuad. All right. Isolated and
very isolated. So this is a very good stone. All the cities along the shore were built by this city
already from the time of the Romans Cesaria. Yeah. And so on because it’s a very very good stone.
Then then Jerusalem it’s like Jerusalem stone. It’s not limestone. It’s sand. That’s why you
cannot uh um build something beautiful with it. Uh um if you need to decorate it, it’s not with the
sunstone. What King Herod did, as you remember, my PhD is on King Herod. Oh yeah, I forgot to
mention it. I forgot to remind you in case you Dr. I can say now Dr. Nila, Dr. Dr. Shakshuka
and Dr. Gon Giron. As you can remember the song Dr. Dr. Can you see I’m burning the door now?
Ah, okay. Just look ahead. Wait a minute. You are far away. Just look ahead. Yes, I’m looking
ahead. Amazing building. Yes, this building look like maybe one of the neglected building we
saw. It was renovated and look how beautiful it is. They left it that it will look like an
old building. No, they cannot change it. Yeah, they are not allowed to change it. There’s a very
very strict rules in Israel regarding renovating all buildings. But look how beautiful it is. It
is. It looks like a wedding hall. Yeah, I think it is like a restaurant or wedding hall. And that’s
another wedding. Oh, wedding hall. Lawrence. Oh, here I can show you how white was the
wall compared to the wall of Jerusalem. Oh. All right. Look at that. Look at that. Look
at that. You see where the man is standing? I got my Yeah. Yeah. That that’s the man. That’s the
moat that you actually mentioned. The the whole street is the moat. Yeah. Yeah. And that’s
the wall. The the you can see the lines on the street and represent the wall that was here.
Yeah. And one more thing I think important thing is that when they’re Christian because we are
reaching the Christian quarter of the old city uh they wanted um a gate for themselves. Uh why
mainly because they entered they wanted to enter the city with a carriage. Mhm. And at the at
Jerusalem gate you could have did it. Yeah. Then it’s actually represents what used to be here.
The nothing here is the gate but that was the gate of and most of the church are on the Yes. Are we
where are we heading now to the Christian quarter? Um if you can look up uh look when they renovated that building they
couldn’t do whatever they want. Uhhuh. Then look at the windows made of wood. Yeah,
it looks like the original ones. Yeah,   they have to make it like that. And if you’re
talking about that, it will be closed now, but kind enough used to be a street.
And they uh look what they did with it. I think I I think once I attend a wedding here. Yeah. Yeah,
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Now, now we have to find someone. Although you do have someone for like
million years. You do have someone for million years now. But you’re not married. Me? Yes. You I
live I live with I live with my girlfriend which we are now maybe 14 years together. Oh wow.
Yeah. Wow. He is a sinner. A sinner doctor. All right. Another thing that I uh can add, the
city used to be very crowded, no gaps, but look at that street. That street was wide mainly because
the wall supposed to be to your left side. Mhm. Then if you have to rush the soldiers, the cannons
uh to a different place, you could do that. Okay, now we are getting close to a statue
built by Israeli artist. Mhm. He want to tell us something. I will just give you the
background. We’ll see the statue. I will give   you few minutes to think what did he want to tell
us. All right. And then we’ll tell what he want to express. Okay. Okay. Jaffa was surrounded by
orange orange trees. Yeah. The brand Jaffa was known all over the world. Java orange was known
all over the world for the very good fruits of orange. All become real estate today. I live
in one of those orchards. Oh, it it was all surrounded by orange trees. Only real estate
today. And this is the statue. Let me just hug it for a minute. He is going to hug a tree. This
is very popular now in Israel. Let me make a let me make a run tour around it. He’s hugger. Yeah.
All right. So, uh what is this shape? Um it’s a uh a clue. bits of another fruit. This uh All
right. What do you want to say? This is a fruit inside a fruit there. Okay. So, I will tell you
this is the seed of an avocado. Oh, did you know that? A seed of an avocado. You didn’t know that?
No, I know. And outside of a seed of avocado, there’s an orange tree. A real one. You can see
even the fruit. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And gets water from here. And all of this orange in a seed
of avocado is all up in the air. Yeah. No roots. No roots. No roots. All up in the air. So what
did the artist want to tell us? Yes, sir. Yes. Yes. Yes, sir. Yes. Ranarin. Yeah. Actually
prepared not one at least four different kind of floating trees. The idea is to show us that
the Jews weren’t in Israel for like 2,000 years, but still they have roots. When they came to here,
it’s like they’ve been here all the time. Okay, I will give another explanation. Okay, good. Which
is good as No, no, no, no. Give, give, give us, give us, give us. Actually, there are at least two
in Jerusalem uh like a trees up in the air. Okay. Mhm. And uh what I know Ran tried to tell us, look
how far humanity is now far from nature. There is an orange tree in a seed of avocado which is
insane and all it’s nothing to do with the ground all up in the air. So it want to tell us look how
far are we now from ah then I I saw the Zionist way of and you took it to the word. Yeah. Yeah.
I think both explanations. Now, let let me let me add one more thing that I used to do here with my
groups. Okay. You can see the entrance to uh the the the bedside of a very beautiful hotel, luxury.
Yeah. Five star hotel. And um it used to be um um hospital uh French hospital, a missionary. They
tried to you know convert the Jews without any success. But later on it became to be a nannery
and two nuns used to go out from here to that area and they used to feed the cats. Every cat had a
horn plate and every cat knew exactly where to go, which plate to go and when they finished their
food, the nuns told them go away because if not the city hall will come to catch you. Nice. I
didn’t know this story. Now when we will see cats, you will see that they are still fed. Should be
the the national animal of Israel. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I think so too. Okay. Now look, this is
how Jafa look like. Very very narrow streets. Yes. You see compared to the street for a donkey
with two sacks donkey with Yeah. two sacks of don’t run away area. Stay with me. This is a very
important uh street. Uh we are at the Christian quarter. Okay. When Napoleon entered the city, he
didn’t enter through the gate that we saw gate. He entered through there. Now, can you see the far
far away? Uh, oh, now you saw the card and that was the mode and the and the walls was away
here. And when they enter, they reached that building and the the officer that was the first
one smell something that connected him to um to uh France wine. Then there was a winery here
and he Yeah. And he entered the the cell, found the wine. Mhm. But he found someone else.
He found that that door. See that door? Yeah. That was the entrance or the exit to the city. Ah, that
that’s how we occupy the city. Nice, isn’t it? Yeah. We’re going to see statues of Napoleon in in
later on. Yeah. Duh. Wait a minute. All right. We are on the way to the upper part of the city. But
I want you to see immediately that Jaffa goes out enter to the sea in a way. And look how beautiful
is Tel a Viv. Jaffa of course is part of Tel Aviv. It’s one of the neighborhoods of Tel A Viv. Used
to be the other way around. And let’s go. We’re going to the city. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. To the
sunniest part of the tour. I forgot to mention another thing. Look at that beautiful group.
They are studying and uh they have their own agriculture area and next to the at next to the uh
floating tree they have a new oranges trees. Oh, really? Yeah. So beautiful, isn’t it? And they’re
like coming here for Yeah, we can. No, no, no, no. We can record you. Okay. Okay. If it’s in English,
you can say it in English. So, you just go up and there’s like it’s Yeah, it’s our school. And right
now, we’re like taking out the bed. The bed. Yeah. And you So, here we have carrots. Um carrots.
Carrots here. And there’s some um mangled here. Oh wow. I never saw mangled outside the supermarket.
And you live where? Um in Tel Aiv. Yeah. All right. And it’s the school that brings you here to
work here. No, it’s the school. Yeah. It’s part of   the school. Thank you very much. Of course. Have
a nice day. Thank you. Nice, isn’t it? This is the the beauty of Israel. You can stop and ask people.
All right. All right. Look how beautiful it is. The reason we are going to talk about this gate in
a minute, but I want to show you that the reason that we are now going down the street is because
the time, okay, we are now going 3,000 years before our time. This is why it’s low. And we’re
going to talk about it when we’ll be there. Okay, so let’s go, guys. You know when when we find
something we find something and I’m running into it. We are leaving now. We are living now the
uh the main gate and we are entering to Bitzvah celebration. It’s now it’s Thursday, right? Yeah.
I don’t Yes, it is a Bitzvah day. A Bitzvah day is Monday and Thursday. And Saturday? Yeah, but
Saturday they’re just in the synagogue. Yeah, but Saturday we cannot take a video of it. Yeah.
So uh who what is a bur mitzvah? Probably a b mitzvah. What is a b mitzvah? Oh uh when a Jewish
young boy becomes 13. Yeah. This is the time he become a man. A man attend praying. So in order
people to know that he can pray with them in the synagogue they make him this celebration. He is
a man. Yeah. They make him a man. Yeah. And you can see that the men are are dancing separately
than the women. Okay, let’s go closer. [Applause] I’m looking for the groom.
I’m looking for the groom. The mermaid by Yeah. Very
good. The one over there. [Music] [Applause] Maybe if they want [Music] [Music] I’m going to join them for a minute. [Music] Hallelujah. Hallelujah. [Music] [Music] Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Now, he still is
still a child, but when he will read the Bible, it will be a man. A man was born will be
born soon. All right, let’s go back to Yeah, but just one word. Yeah, we’re going back to
the gate we started with. In ancient times, um a boy becomes 13. It means it can be one of 10
person reading praying. Okay. Yeah. You know that wait a Jew must pray in a group of a minimum of
10 10 men minimum from a man must be from 13 years old and up. Now you’re going to tell us about the
gate. Yeah, just one word about the boy. Well, okay. Um, so in ancient times they will just take
the boy in a synagogue and tell everyone, okay, it’s already 13. In later times, this making a boy
telling him 13 become a very very big celebrate like we just saw. All right. Then if we’ll go if
we’ll go to there at the we don’t know when the age 13 actually began because the new testament
tell us about uh Jesus bitzvah when he was 12 years old and then he lost his parents. Uh but uh
before you’re talking about that let’s talk about the tail. What is a tail? Uh okay. So um Jaffa uh
we know that Jaffa existed for at least at least 4,000 years before our time. Okay. At least. So
at that time like 2,000 BCE. It was a canite city surrounded by walls. Not the world that we
saw here. And it was conquered destroyed and reconquered again and again. So with the layers
of people living here, we are now at the Egyptian layer, but later on we’ll show you under the
ground. There’s a Roman layer and so on. The topest layer is the Otman is the youngest one.
That is the youngest one. And the toughest layer is Israel. It’s not Ottomans. Yeah. But we hardly
It’s not It’s not Yeah. Yeah. But you hardly see any buildings from the top. The new buildings
that you show us are from Israel time. Yeah.   Yeah. Okay. Uh and AEL is like this many many
layers and in Israel we have the most magnificent layers. You know in Tel Megiddo we are talking
about 24 different layers. Talking about 30 layers now. Really? You just been to Yeah. Yeah. I didn’t
mention. So it’s really really amazing. So we are now at the Egyptian layer. Let’s see this gate.
Oh yeah. Ah you’re from the other side. Yeah, because here Okay, let me stand in the shade.
All right, start to shout. Okay, this is the gate leading to the city at the time of the Egyptians.
Yeah, it’s not original. The original gate that was found here is the Israeli Museum. Okay. Okay.
So, but we have a very very interesting story. uh as I told you 2,000 year BCE it was a Cananite
city at around uh 1550 B.CE the Egyptian start conquering the land of Israel and around 1300 BCE
they reach Jaffa. Wait a minute just a moment. Then if you look at the map um of the Middle
East, you will see that Israel is a bridge between Africa, Asia and Europe. Then if you wanted to
occupy the world, you had to start from Israel. That’s why so many kings, sultans, ferands,
whatever came to Israel and and occupied it. Now, Jaffa was occupied even more than other
city because that was the gate into the holy land. Uh we know uh so the Egyptian conquered the
the whole land of Israel around 1300 BCE and they left cities where their armies and they ruled the
country. But but here we have a very interesting story how they conquer Jaffa. Oh yeah. Oh yeah.
He tell us in Heroglyph like the one we have here in Heroglyph in that they found in Egypt that
they came to the city left them huge jars of grain and the people of Jaffa were under siege.
So they wanted very much food. So they entered these huge jars of grain inside the city. But what
was in does this use big jars? What was in them? Si soldiers. Oh, tiny soldiers. Story familas.
All right. Troy story. Troy story is couple of hundred years later. Story is much earlier. And
this is how they conquer Jaffa. At least from the writing in hell grief that we know. Well, at least
I mean the king himself wrote it on his uh um um beautiful no beautiful palace in Karnak. Then we
know the story from there. Uh since the writing in Egypt on stone like we see here in the in this
example, we have so many literature that survived this 3,000 years and we know a lot about it. We’re
so lucky. Yeah, we’re really really lucky. uh and um and this is the story which is much earlier
uh from the story of Troy then in that case we do have another All right let’s okay and just one uh
thing if we’re talking already about it the first time that Israel mentioned in all of history was
in one of the writings of the pharaohs somewhere around 1200 B.CE. We have the name of Israel
written in heroglyph. So we know the name of Israel already from the time of 1200 B.CE which
is really really exciting. The beautiful Jewish people. This is the Yeah. the below. Look
how beautiful it is. No, they cannot see it from here. Let’s climb up. Yeah. So we are now
going to the upper the most upper part of Jaffa. What a beautiful day. Yeah, it’s what we have to
tell our audience and watchers that subscribers, don’t forget to subscribe. Yes, it’s very
important for us to all of you to know that hopefully the war in Gaza ended about two weeks
ago. No, no, no, no. Don’t, don’t enter to it because it didn’t enter. It didn’t end it. Uh,
climb up. Let’s climb up. Wow. This is the upper part. Look at that view. Look how beautiful
it is. And this is a church. We cannot hear you. Okay. And the church of Peter. Yeah. Maybe
we want to talk about it here or maybe we No, we will uh we will talk about it. Look look
at the this uh we’ll talk we’ll tell about it more when we be there. But look at it’s facing
the west. Oh no. They don’t know it. Listen, the where at the east is there. Yeah. All the
churches are facing to the east. Yeah. But let’s look at the east part of the church. And you can
see the entrance of the church. Tracing the west. The sea in Israel. The Mediterranean is all in the
west. And why we’ll tell you when we’ll be there. All right. All right. very nice. Hey, hey, hey.
He is not a good He’s not a good person. Stay next to me. We don’t have the mics. Okay. And people
complained last time and I’m not we are now like a couple. You have to be next to me. Maybe. Um you
want to show us? No, no, no. Uh all right. Let’s start with that. I was born in Tel Aiv. Oh, when
I was in Tel Aiv as a child, there were houses of two three stories building. You can see what’s
happening here now. But um just just uh between the building there is this white building. I will
try to show you what is that white building. Okay. All right. Now he is talking about that building.
It’s called the Shalom Tower. Yeah. Uh it it’s not looking like a very impressive uh scraper. Yeah.
But it was built in 1964. This tower at that time in 1964 it was the tallest building in all of
Asia. I’m repeat that. 1964 the Mcdal Shanom tower was the biggest tallest tower in all of Asia.
Yeah. And now we can understand that it’s Yeah. And when I was a child, not far from you. Yeah.
When we visit Tel Aviv, this was a sci-fi. Yeah. Okay. Seeing this building, the old city maybe
three, four, five floors. This is like 40 floors. Science fiction. Okay. Oh, they’re going to eat
breakfast. How are we going to join them? Oh, look at that. So, uh, this is the shore of Tel
Aviv. Now what for me is important and it’s not the best day for that from that place from right
here if you look to your right side you can see the emptiness now today it’s a little bit dusty
uh but the emptiness there is the westburg oh it’s really far and then it’s not so far it’s
like 15 minutes by car wait a minute just let me talk please and this is the minute for that
um so that that’s the of Samaria in Judea. Then if you are thinking about the the the future
Palestine state which is not exist yet, then it will be there and you can see how wide Israel is.
Maybe it’s the time to Yes. Yes. It is the time that Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. This is the time to take
the map. Then we can understand how narrow and problematic is Israel. All right. Let’s head to
St. Peter. Let’s talk. Let’s start to talk about   it. But me next to me, we are now heading to St.
Peter Church. St. Peter. Uh, why is Peter Manger here defin in Japan? He has a church just for his
name and is facing the west. We’re going to answer all this when we get to the No, no, no. We can
actually talk about it now. Yes, we are on the   way to there. Okay. When we’ll get to the house.
It’s at the church. We won’t be able to talk. Uh, okay. So on the way to the church uh maybe you can
go from here to very nice. Yeah, we will go from here. You can see already the sea over there. You
see there’s many many stones inside the sea. We’ll see more of them later. Can you talk about St.
Peter? Okay. Okay. Yeah. So when we’ll be at Simon the Tener house. Yes. We will tell the story that
Peter invited was hosted here by Simon the tener and here he had the dream that we’re going to talk
about the vision the vision the very important so uh Peter was hosted here by Simon the tenor the
tener and something very interesting that we know because we are Jewish is that the tenor consider
to be a very very nasty working job. It stinks. It’s hard to make the leather. Wait a minute. Only
Jewish people know, sir. Because you know when I’m going to so many countries, they’re taking it to
see non-Jewish sim. It’s not about the work, but the work is very very sticky. And in the Jewish
culture, if a woman’s get married to the person that worked as a tener and she doesn’t know about
it earlier, she can divorce. No question asked. It’s amazing. So why does Peter goes to be hosted
by uh by a tenor? The reason is to show that he wants to be with the lower with the lower cast
of the people. Yeah. All right. Like Jesus. Like Jesus. Wow. So he’s hosted at the tener house and
is little bit hungry. Be careful. Be careful. Be careful. Careful. Yeah. He’s a little bit hungry.
Yeah. Like every Jew at 5:00 p.m. Yeah. And while he asking people to make him supper, he falls
asleep. And in his dream, he saw a huge blanket with all kinds of food on it. But the amazing
thing that the book of Acts tell us that those animal were not kosher. Yeah. And Peter like all
of Jesus disciples were Jewish and God tell him eat the food that on the blanket and he telling
him I haven’t ate a non-cultural food in my life but he said if I created it you can eat it okay
when he wakes up from his dream a messenger from Cesaria tells him that there is a Roman soldiers
that want to become Christian. Okay. It’s not soldier, it’s the head. Yeah. It’s an officer. A
very important. Yeah. Very important Roman want to become Christian. And then Peter realized that the
dream was not just about food. It’s realized that all people can become Christian. On that time,
only Jewish people could become Christian. Okay. New Christians. Yeah. New new Christian. They
can join the Christianity. Only if you were Jew. Yeah. I wait a minute. I call it new Judaism.
Okay. It’s that they I’m not sure that that St. Peter knew that he is a he was a Christian.
Yeah. Yeah. At that time. Okay. It’s really   a question in in in debate when Christianity
become another part of when it aparted from Judaism. But in any case, Peter understand. Wow.
Look at the the wind and the tree is beautiful. Wow. Okay. Sorry. Okay. Then let’s enter. Let me
let me tell you but I haven’t crossed the story. Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh   oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh sorry the   most important thing Peter realized from
the dream about food that not only Jewish people can become Christian even Gentiles can
become Christian and from that point on after the officer Roman officer becomes Christian
also Gentiles can become Christian and from that on Christianity is the biggest religion in
the world. Yeah. And it started where where he started here. And he went to Cesaria. Ceria is
not so far away from here. Like 40 minutes north of Tel Aviv by car on the shore. Yeah. Yeah.
Now let’s let’s talk about few more things if it’s okay by you. But I’m talking about few
more things if it’s okay by you. First of all, uh there are two houses of Simon the Tanner.
that Catholic church was built on top of it. And there’s another place that I can take you
to see the house of Simon the Tanner belongs to the Greek Orthodox. Uh you talk about the stones
down there. Let’s go see. All right. Talk about the stones because in inside the church if it’s
okay but you I will talk quietly. In any case, since Jaffa was built like layers like we talked
earlier, uh the Roman the Roman the Roman layer is beneath us. So this is just a a pillar that is
from the Roman period and just next to it there’s a granite pillars and all the cities in Israel
the cities along the shore Cesaria was a then St. Peter was one of the first who knew that
Jesus was the Messiah. Yeah. and he in and he talked about it when he was in Cesaria Philippus
which is in the golden heights today and this is the stone from there and uh this is beautiful
for me that uh the first one of the 12 who knew that he is the Messiah who do you think I am
uh John the Baptist Elijah no the Messiah then it’s beautiful to see the stones and we can we
know that it’s from his time because till this time granite we don’t have in Israel yeah And
also the one on the right this I can see by the black h things in it that is made of marble and
we don’t have marble in Israel. It have to be imported. It’s from the time of the Romans. Yeah
definitely. King Herod had for example no marble. Now we are entering out the church belongs to
the Franciscans. I won’t be able to talk a lot   together because if there someone is praying there
we must let him pray. But I want you to understand I will take you as close as I can to the altar
altar to see the uh amazing uh painting of of the angel who came with a sack full of unclean
animal that story told you. Just before we enter uh we haven’t answered the question why this
church faces the west. Mhm. So the reason is where did Peter ended his life? went through Rome
through the port of Jaffa or Cesaria. But he was crucified in Rome. Yeah. Right. He was crucified
in Rome. And this is why this church facing Rome to the west in honor of Peter. Another option is
that to tell the salesman, here we are. I am here St. Peter. I’m waiting for you in the land. Come
and pray. You’re safe now. No hats, please. Oh, is it open? Yes, it is. You might hear a little bit
of music. Let’s get it in. Oh, it’s empty. Good. From here you can see beautifully the son, Jesus, God, the
holy spirit shape of a dove. Do you want to say something? This
is the story we told you about the   blanket. Yes. Yes. Yes. And and
you know what it is? And this is it’s the first organ of the church
of the holy supplr. Oh, really? Yes. This is where this is where the priests
go up and can talk to everyone. It made of olive tree. Olive tree. All carved in
olive thread. You can see beautiful since with St. Peter. Mhm. St. Peter
and uh fish. Remember catch the fish. Throw the other net to the fish. I cannot
see it. I’m blind now without my glasses. Beautiful church, isn’t it? It’s
beautiful. It’s all carved in in olive tree. And the connection as I see
it between Judaism to Christianity is St. Peter. And you can see the manora. Yeah.
This is Let’s go close to the monora. Okay. I think the minora is made of copper. Mhm. And
seven. It’s like the same that was in the temple, the Jewish temple. True. And if
we’re talking about the temple,   let me show you another part of the temple
here. Look at the entrance. Actually, the exit. It’s like the of the ark. Yeah.
Exactly. One beautiful. Then it’s beautiful, isn’t it? Yeah. It look like totally
the temple. The Jewish temple. Yeah. I didn’t see many foreign many foreign workers come to pray here that living in
Israel. Yes. Okay. Open the gate. What? Beautiful. Wow. Do you want to see the
other salmon the Tanner uh house? We we show them the the pool of the zodiac. Yeah. Okay. Then
uh if I if I are going to see the the the pool of zodiac is the font of uh the zodiac fontain is
mainly because the name of the street is by the zodiac. Then look for your zodiac. I mean you
know the zodiac sign but uh guess which one is actually yours. Okay. Now, while we walking, you
see this square. Mhm. Just below us. Yeah. This is the Roman part of Jaffa. Yes. There’s a very nice
museum that you can enter from there. We don’t We will pass it this time, but if you’re here, you
can enter. You will see the Roman city with just maybe uh 10 ft below us. And look how beautiful
is that view of the sea of the Mediterranean. [Music] All right. I don’t have coins to throw. Okay.
He said that he can usually we are throwing money for luck. Yeah. For for But we don’t have
money anymore because we cannot throw credit cards. We’re not working because of the war.
Yeah. So, um, look for your zodiac sign. Um, mine is What is yours? Actually, I’m
I’m Capricorn. Capricorn. Where is Capricorn? Bull Gemini. Help him to
find a zodiac sign. Uh, okay. Uh, he’s got no luck. No zodiac. That’s mine.
Oh, really? Yeah. You’re a cancer. Really? Fish. I think Captain Gemini. You see
that there are some coins here. Oh, yeah. And the idea is to try to hit your zodiac
and then everything that you will ask will come true. I think that’s mine. Okay. That’s mine.
Look at me. Let me take a picture of it. Good. Guys, it’s hot day. And I know that in
Europe it’s quite quite a chilly now. Uh it’s um the end of October, the beginning
of November, and still hot in Israel. Then this this might answer your question
about when to arrive Israel now. Oh uh there’s a Napoleon. Yeah. Napoleon statue.
And you will be surprised to see something special on his face if it’s still there.
I’ll show them. This is the entrance to the museum. Yeah. But there’s a noise that I
don’t like. Remember Napoleon occupied the city but he didn’t take care of the something like
4,000 Ottomans dead soldier. This is the time. All right. We have to run away from here. Yeah.
But but show them the mask. Yeah. Yeah. So show   them. Talk to me. Okay. So we are now entering
one of the amazing jewelries that we have in Jaffa. As we told before, many many artists
came to Jaffa. We are just going to pass this one because there’s a very interesting story.
Okay. It’s closed. It’s closed. Of course, it’s closed. It’s there are no tourists.
Really? Give him one reason why it will be open. I really I’m really really all right and
talk about it. But you know a few sentences. You know, I have never seen this uh jewelry store
uh close then visit hard our times here. Wow. Any case any case um the grandfather of the artist
here immigrated from Yemen. Yemen. And in Yemen he was working with jewelry made of silver. But
when they came to Israel, they become farmers. And his father was already a farmer and artist
started and he was an engineer. Okay. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Can I hear it? Yeah. For good luck, Hamsa.
And remember, I need to be the guy. I need to be the first one because we are blocking the view
being next to me. You are my partner. You are my lover. You are my yummy. Okay. Chuck. Okay.
No, no, no, no. The entrance is from there. Um, and after few years he was working as a engineer.
He decided that he want to go back to his roots and he opened the store and he making jewelry
out of silver and one of the most famous jewelry that he make h it was a a gift given by Shimon
Perez our former prime minister and president. All right to Queen Elizabeth, Queen of England.
He gave her a jewelry that was made here. And so the this jewelry is very very famous. What
they make is really really unique. And now we are going but it’s still outside it will be
open. One of the most famous people all over the world. Okay. I know what you’re talking the
most famous what he did uh entered the culture of all the western world and you’re going to guess
it in a minute. Okay, we’re going to start them with the setu and let’s see if people will guess
it. If not, we are going to in any case, we’re going to tell you maybe we can knock the door.
No, no, no, no, no. I don’t want you. I mean, I love I love him. I’m talking with him like
once in five year five years five weeks but it’s you need a lot of energy for him you know I
love him very much but you need a lot of energy all right guess who is that man okay give you I
give you a hint this is a spoon this is a spoon and this is his name when I’m here even if I don’t enter his museum
I quote from the matrix and it’s not just in the matrix many many culture the the things he
done you can believe that he have powers and you can believe that he doesn’t have powers
in any case it doesn’t matter it it doesn’t   matter because he’s doing it he I think he was
the first one who did it yeah and he has many followers but I think he entered the western
culture. So from the matrix it says bending bending the spoon is impossible. You have
to realize that the spoon doesn’t exist. Is only your mind that you have to bend. Ah
right. So uh really amazing. Dan, do you want me to do you want us to enter to another uh
another uh museum? Yeah, sure. Let’s do that. I’m standing off the wall of old Jaffa. The wall
that we started over there. So this is part of the old wall. Be careful not to fall. Yes. So
it’s just very small parts of the world remain till today. Be careful. Yeah. Yeah. Oh. Oh.
Look at that. Look at that. Look how beautiful   it is. The cats that are the Yeah. We talked
about Yeah. Yeah. But the roasters beautiful. Are those the Come close cuz he’s very scared.
No. Are you one of the nurse? The nuns? No, I’m not a n. You’re not a nun. And it’s an
old She’s not here. You know about the n Oh, I took a lot of videos of them and pictures of
them. No, no, I’m not a n. But we we talked about feeding the cat. You can see that. And this is so
beautiful. It’s not only dry food. No, they are very spoiled. This is something. Yeah, but rooster
we hardly see in the streets. Yeah, I never Yes, we see everywhere. I never saw roosters. Yes, it’s
a Jaffa thing. Yeah, it’s a Jaffa thing. And you? Who? How are you? If you’re not a nun. Oh, yes.
Don’t worry. She’s the most spoiled one. Aha. The ginger wants his food. Otherwise, the pigeons eat
it. Ah, which is not bad, too. He’s very scared. Thank you very much. You’re welcome. Have you ever
been to Museum? You know how many times I met her? No, actually only twice. Only twice. We are We are
entering now. We are two tour guide. Okay, great. Uh, is it okay to enter? Yes. Elana, is Elana at
on? Yes, but I’m not sure. It’s okay. So, we’re I’m not sure. It’s going to be the third time
you’re going to be Now, can you can you tell us   a little bit about Elana that that I won’t destroy
that everything that she did? Are you video? Yes. Yes. Okay. So, Elana, I’m just a bit embarrassed
to Okay, stand next to her. She will be Elana. No, it’s okay. All right. Now, she’s okay. multi-
uh everything you see here surrounding you is made by Lana. She’s a multi-disiplinary artist.
She’s 89 years old. She lives here. She purchased this building during the ‘ 70s and set it as
her home. And because she’s a collector of art aside of being an artist, she decided to open
it up to the public view in 95 as a museum. This is an incredible place. It’s a 300year-old
hostel. It used to be a hostel for pilgrims. It came here to rest before they went to Jerusalem
to pray and everything and Elana purchased it, renovated it a lot. It then follows a lot of
history. Elana was born in Tiberius to family. Her mother was a doctor and also her grandfather was
a doctor and at the age of 12 she lost her mother to the battle of cancer and her father left. And
so she and her brother Danny were sent away to the kibuts and they grew up like all by themselves and
she realized she needed to take care of herself and she was a wild kid. She deals with dyslexi so
she was never she’s still wild. She’s still wild. She’s still wild. She’s very like self-taught. She
says if you if you ask her when we when did you realize you’re an artist? She says she was born
an artist. She made herself her own toys when even when she like was a kid and then like she lived in
the kibuts and afterwards she went to study. She studied one year in Betel but she didn’t fit in.
She met Lenny her husband in a horror dancing you know we saw we saw horror dancing with the mitzvah
told her I need I don’t have any money I’m going to travel the world for one year in work and then
I’m coming back and I’m marrying you. That’s what happened. They got married. They moved to LA.
She was bored. She started taking uh sculpture lessons. And then she realized she had like big
talent. She started sculpturing and she made like her big first commercial success. She made Lenny
a buckle. Yeah, exactly. A leather buckle. Uh a leather and iron it. No, no, no. What? What? What?
The the belt. the belt buckle and they strolled in Bloomingdales while they were in New York and the
manager of Bloomingdale saw it and like who made this and he told her he told him my wife and then
she had like a big commercial success while doing the the buckles to Blooming Dales and then they
expanded and so she did sculptures and furniturees and the buckles and everything and she became
great success. Andy Warhol said about her that she she’s gonna get a lot of success because she’s not
afraid of combining all kinds of material. That is correct. She was the one who’s doing like the you
see here the fiberglass and the combination with the skull, the bronze, the fiberglass, all kinds
of irons and imagination. Hands of imagination is creativity. She touches everything. You can
see here jewelry. This is like the Donna Karen necklace you made for a good friend Donna
Karen. This Wait, wait, it’s you. This is Gabriella. Yeah, Gabriella with I remember. No, he
was supposed to be here. The cat person. The Yeah, the cat the cat The catwoman. The catwoman. Yeah.
Yeah. I’m so happy with that. Yeah. And like this she wears on a daily basis this cow. And she made
one as well for Michael Jackson. Like gold. This is gold lever silver which is quite incredible.
Look at all the photos. She wears that on a daily basis. That’s another jewelry, sculptures,
furniture, leather clothing. She literally touches everything and it’s also she’s not restrained by
any kind of con conventions or anything. She’s an amazing woman. There is a movie about her. I
know. I know. I know. It was in a live cinema. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I will see it. I
will see it. I will see it. Yeah. Um then we can   can we climb up a little bit? Yes, but you have
to leave your bags. All right. Very easy. Sure. Very easy. Yeah. Thank you very much for actually
uh talking about her because she is amazing. Then elevator or climbing up elevator. Elevator is
here. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. This is floor zero. You go to floor one and then two. And for the
rooftop there’s no elevator. Yeah. [Laughter] Ah, they’re two guys. I tell she said I’m not sure
that you will see her and I said I always meet her. So you did? Yeah. So I’m dead. Ladies and
gentlemen, this is Elana Gur by yourself. And I know that Georgin that bought few things of yours
is now so jealous cuz every time that we are here, we are visiting you. And the catwoman as well. No,
she fed the cats. I love it. I love her. Rooster. The rooster. Yes. And the rooster. Yeah. Then
this is Elana by herself. It’s the first time. No, no. I I met you a few times here. Uh, and no,
we we are tour guides. We are tour guides. We are guides. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And I
I I uploaded a video on my YouTube channel uh of you and Georgin. And we talked a little bit, but I
was like a child when I saw you are my hero. Uh I um I I live in Tel Aiv and every time that you did
something, I was here. festivals, not festivals, new collection. Um, I think the last collection
that we talked about was a video of the people who walk again. Men entrress. Men entrress. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We we talked about it then. Thank you very much. And we are now stealing
your house. We are going to take a little bit of   that. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Again. I I need nice to start the morning like this. I know you you said that you you are still
in your house and I’m the happiest guy ever and that’s the reason we wanted to use the elevator.
Okay, let’s go to the roof. We just entered to the roof of our place. And yes, the first word is
wow. Wow. It is wow. Wow. I think here you can talk about Israel, but I haven’t brought the map.
But I can Ah, yes, the map is there. But we can talk about it without the map. Yeah. Okay. Cuz
I think it’s the best place to see everything. Look at the whole sea. So we are just at the
roof of the museum of Ilanagur. Yeah. We can see from between the houses the part of the
modern modern port. Yeah. That we’re going to see later. See the British uh the one that
built by the British. Yeah. Yeah. Indeed. But look how beautiful is the view. Uh just to
let to tell you a little bit about it. This is the city of Batyam. But not so far away
from there. It’s the city of Ashdod. Uh the I’ve been there yesterday and it’s a big
port of it. But south of Ashdod is Gaza. Ah look at the crowns. It’s not a statue. It’s a
real It’s a real crow. A real crow. Yeah. Not a statue. Yeah. Next to a statue of one of them.
But it’s I think Ilanaguru is one of the best places just to visit. What the tree? A man tried
to catch the pigeon. Ah. All right. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Amazing. We can spend hours here.
Hours. Hours. Hours. Yeah, indeed. There are It’s like a living museum next to St. Peter Church.
And if you’re talking about St. Peter Church, down there is the second house of Simon the
Tanner. Yeah, we might sit. We we but we we will near it when we go down to the And this is
the port of Jaffam which is today I don’t know if you visit the new area of the port of the port
it’s like um museums beautiful boutique shops uh exhibitions then they are catching more like
culture than fish here. Okay. U maybe we can answer the question why is Jaffa so important? Why
Jaffy is so important? Uh the the port that we see built by the British only in 1936 before that.
This is the worst port ever. Many many stones in the water. And you know the Dutch people that
were famous for being uh salesmen if they want to curse someone they will tell him to go to Jaffa
port instead of go to hell. Yeah. because there’s so many of their ships at least s why this city
becomes so important why Jonah left from here. Yes. So the reason is that Jaffa is the closest
port to Jerusalem. If we look at the map you see that Jaffa is really just uh along the shore at
the closest port to Jerusalem. when King Herod the Great built the port in Cesaria which is somewhere
there. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He thought of u making a port which is not in a Jewish area and so
the Roman and Gentile could use it but after him uh after Cura ceased to be a important port
because it was not close to Jerusalem. a long history till modern time Jaffa was a very very
important port and it was the gate to Israel when Jewish people start to immigrate to Israel in the
end of the 19th century all of them passed through the port of Jaffa let me let me add a little bit
we are in the middle um Mediterranean um somewhere there remember Gaza next to Gaza it’s Egypt and at
the ancient time if you want to sell from Egypt to Rome. He had to do that through the seashore.
Yeah. There were there were no uh they hardly there were no straight routes of boats going from
Egypt to uh to Rome. They would make a port. Yeah. Go from Israel, Lebanon. Is it the main road?
The main road, the king’s road, the king’s way. Let let’s travel a little bit in our place and
if it’s okay by you, we will stop for 20 minutes uh just to charge the battery and you’re still
of your R in front of me and not next to me. And he is still in front of me and not next
to me. Beautiful sophagus. This is a current current. Yes. Beautiful, isn’t it? Let me show
you a few more. My PhD expertise is on stones. It’s again a collection and hers
as well. So, we are now going down the stairs and and and let’s try not to
fall because it almost happened to me. Look at that building. I mean,
the house itself is like that. She just renovated the house,
but she didn’t destroy it. And if we talked about the cat, the catwoman
catwoman. Um, unlike other artists. Mhm. Unlike other artists. Oh, look at the cats. Uh, she moved
to Jaffa in the 70s when it was not popular. Yeah. At that time, it become popular only at the
thousand. True. So she one of the first one to come to to Java as an artist. Do you want
to see the kitchen? Let’s go to the maybe the balcony is right. Yeah. Yeah. And the kitchen is
there as well. Later I want to sit here. Okay. Uh anyhow because I want to plug my telephone into
the electricity. That’s a beautiful. And I think   I want to show you something. I want to show
you something. Uh ah yes. He is the stone guy. This is an anchor. time they were just throwing
a big stone to the city. It was with a rope on it and would just hold a boat and uh many of them
got lost. So we have along the shore of Israel many many anchors like this one and one of them is
here and we have dogs in Israel as well. Uh yeah. Wow. A view to Oh um let just let me show you the
view. Wow. And we are going to talk about another stone. Yeah. As you know, I’m She is an artist and
you’re talking about the stones. Um, everyone is interested. Yes. They have different interest.
This stone was for making olive oil. This was this was pressed. It was working around and it
was pressed the olive seeds. And from there we got olive oil which was one of the most important
things that was made in the land of Israel. You know we imported olive oil to Egypt because in
Egypt they did not have trees of olive oil. So one of the most important factories in ancient
times. And this is my kitchen. Wow. Beautiful. It is beautiful, isn’t it? Wow. Beautiful. This is
my kitchen. Um Georgin, this is your kitchen too. Maybe I will want to talk about these two. Okay.
It’s marble. Yeah. Not just marble. Why do we have two two? Okay. So, in Jewish culture, we are
not allowed to mix between milk and meat. Meat, dairy products and meat. And there’s different
kind of kosher for milk and meat. This is why here maybe would wash the milk dishes.
Yeah. I will. So, in any religious house, you will get to Wait a minute. Stand there. Let
me take a picture of you with a kosher sink. I did it. Yeah. And look at the olives. Yeah. Yeah.
I’m not sure if they’re real or No, it’s it’s No, it’s real. Real? Yeah. Yeah. I’m not sure.
Okay. Wow. This is beautiful. He can be here for hours. I mean, look at that. Look at Look
at that. look like a more like Chinese style. This is really amazing. It’s worth visiting. I
love Ilana Gore Museum. And you saw Elana Gore. She was so nice. It’s amazing. She was so nice.
Oh, this is Sir Elvin John and John Lennon. Wow. Yoshi Bin. He is Israel guy is not
important for us. But um those two you know those two those two you
know it’s beautiful isn’t it you know she have the same glasses she
have the same glass yeah earlier wow it’s I mean I cannot take um I mean it will take me hours to take a a
video of every inch here. Unbelievable, isn’t it? Can
I take that door as well? More like the African masks downstairs. Yeah. Oh, is this
huge vase that’s used to be   the the uh uh h house the room of
her grandfather used to be library and lately she changed it a little
bit but it’s still beautiful. It’s Oh, look at the kid from Valley. And she told
us he was a doctor. That’s the grandfather. Look at that. It’s a It’s a grandfather did it. Oh, wow.
Yeah. This that’s that’s the one of the um it’s one of the events that uh and of
1929 of of Muslims that call themselves Palestinians now who butcher Jewish people
and not just in all the countries. Yeah. Yeah. That’s for was the was the worst.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I can see a little bit of the library but it’s mostly art
library but he was artist as well. And the main room we can be here forever. Yeah. We can be
here forever. I’m I’m sure just every item that we can see there probably a story
that can take you. Yes. Yes. Yes. Every item [Music] but in English. In English. We are talking
English now. The story guy. Hello. Enjoy. Byebye. We prefer Euro. I love the last supper. Look at the last supper table. The morning
after. All right. Morning after. Can I show you something? Yeah. Yeah, please. Uh, this is a
horn of the chauffar. Yeah. We make a chauffeer out out of it. And those are real skulls.
Those are real skulls of cows or bulls and so on. Real ones. Not real ones. Yeah, not
real. Look at the morning morning uh after uh I don’t know if I will. All right, let’s
start with that. I will never leave my table   like that. Secondly, I don’t have a lot of
food anyhow. Then it’s going to be very easy. It’s both. Yeah. Wow. Elana Gore. You
saw her. You know her. Lots of Elana. Ah, that’s the that’s the last item
that she uh bought for herself. Um, she was sitting here. Remember Georgin? Can we look like a water system? But if if
I remember correctly, it used to be a soap uh factory as well. Oh, really? Yeah. But
let me ask because I’m not sure. We know we   have at the Urugur museum. There was a soap
factory as well. Orurora. Yes. Yes. Yes. But let me let me ask her and that’s going to be
better. Yes. It was a soap factory made of olive oil which is um the best present that
you can give your friends from the Holy Land, you know. Um I have a person that now imports
real soap made of olive oil from Nabalus. Ah, okay. For I’m now taking showers with this oil
olive oil soap. And that’s that’s part of the oven. The factory oven see the oven. Yeah, that’s
it. We have a we are living now the museum if it’s okay this time through the stairs. But uh let’s
I mean look at that. Look at that. Look at the chandelier. This is the room of the chairs. She is
such an amazing uh woman. Such an amazing woman. Mine the stairs. Mine the stairs. Yes.
Yes. Yes. Look at the shop. And guys,   buy as much as you can because everything
here worth a lot and will worth a lot. She is amazing. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. We are back again. Yay. And
there’s another video of uh of yours as well. Y and the catwoman. No, listen. Listen. Two nuns
used to go out from uh now it’s Hotel Jaffa. Mhm. And they used to feed the cats at 4:00 a.m. and
400 p.m. And with my groups at 400 p.m. I used to bring uh dog food. Now I know uh sorry cat food.
Now I know that when I’ll come to here I will bring a little bit more of cat food as well. May
I ask where you from? I’m from Tel Aviv. Ah okay. Yeah I’m from here. Oh and and what uh yeah that’s
the oven. That’s the oven of the factory. The soap factory. So remember the hole we saw above? Yes.
Here you see the oven. In order to make uh the so of olive oil. That’s the hole. Yeah, that’s one we
saw at the in order to make the olive they have to have fire and it’s really really unique system.
Uh but they’re still making it till today in No, they’re making it in so many places
in Israel as well. I don’t have Yeah,   boutique boutique uh boutique shops of Of course.
Yes, of course. Of some not at that scale. I’m sure that not then. Um let’s take my bag and say
goodbye to those two beautiful women. And I saw her running away from me. But it’s okay. Thank
you very much. Bye. Have a great day. Thank you again. It’s okay. It’s okay. I’ll pick it up.
All right. All right. Bye. Let’s go up. Bye bye. Well, we didn’t think that it will be a long
video of Ilanagur, but here it is. We could not help. H Well, I can take you to see the whale,
the big fish of Jonah that she she made. Okay. All right. Let’s do that. That we have to charge our
battery. Oh, I have to stay there to charge the   battery. Finding some. Yeah. Yeah. Found a place
to drink coffee. Tourists. Yeah. Many Israelis. I cannot you can hear them. I love the
Israeli tourists, but you can hear them. They’re probably here for the Urri
Museum. Maybe or maybe not. I don’t know. Ah, can you smell the kebab smell? So, we are
now exiting the old city. Yes. Do you want to talk about Jonah or just to mention we see
the wheel? Uh, it’s still left side right now. The kebab smell is coming from ah yeah
from the restaurant of St. George. Wow. Ah what a good smell. So maybe you are
not talking to us. Yeah. Now you are talking. So as you all know the story
I will just repeatly repeat it shortly. Jonah was a prophet and at that time the biggest
enemy of Israel was yourself. No, he was the he was the worst person who who didn’t want he didn’t
want to be a prophet. Yeah. But but the biggest enemies with the Assyrians, right? And God tell
him to warn the Assyrians otherwise they will be killed. And he did not want to warn them because
they were the biggest enemies. And God tell him, “You should warn the Assyrians.” And he says, “No,
there are enemies. I don’t want to warn them.” So he fled. He fled from the land of Israel. Where
did he fled from? Chaffa. That was the main port, right? Java. So from here he fled. He want to go
to Tish. Toshish in the Bible probably probably Trasus Trussus in Turkey. And so he went but
his boat was almost drowned. So they decided the people on the boat decided to throw him to
the water because they knew that God want to punish him. So he’s they throw him in the water
cuz he ran away from his missionary. He got a mission from God and he doesn’t want to do it.
Yeah. That’s that’s the enemy of yourself. Yeah, you yourself you are we are the enemy. We are so
afraid of doing things. So destroying the earth.   And what happened there? What did the Bible
tell us? Who who what the Bible tell us? Who caught him? A big fish. A big fish. It doesn’t
say a whale. Yeah. Okay. Although in the later tradition a whale is a really big fish, but it in
the Bible it definitely said a big fish. And in the fish uh he is stays three days in his belly.
Yeah. In his belly. So almost when you’re in the big [ __ ] you almost dead because you are inside.
Who else was dead for 3 days? Four days. Three days. Friday to Sunday. Ah, you’re talking about
Jesus. I’m talking No, I’m I’m I’m talking about um St. Lazarus. Ah, okay. Okay. Okay. So I thought
about it and then he understands that he cannot define God and he goes to the Assyrians and tell
them you bet people if you’re not going to become better you’ll be all be destroyed. True.
And what did the Assyrians do? Nothing. No,   they become better people. Okay. Yes. Yes. And you
trust that? Yeah. So this is the story and uh and amazing for us that Jaffa remains in the Bible in
a very very early period and that was made by the Lana Gore herself. It’s really beautiful. It is
beautiful. Are we going to see the other other um Simon the Tanner house? Yeah. Yeah. On the
way to the Yeah. Yeah. All right. We Okay. We are from the square Peter’s Church. Yeah. We are
now going down. We We came from Elana Gore. You wanted them to see that? Yeah. The horse that
we saw from above. Yes. We are going down to the port and on this way we’re going to pass near
Simon Turner house. Simon the Turner second house or according second tradition. Yeah. Believed
by the Greek Orthodox, the Orthodox churches. But there is one big problem there. Oh, there’s
a group of Israelis. Let They stop here because of the Yeah. Yeah. Let let’s stop the video for a
minute. Lo. Okay. So, according to the Orthodox, this is the house of Simon the Tener. And just
above it, we can see this balcony made of wood. Ah, that one. Yeah, that one. It’s just example.
It’s just an example for a balcony that we can see in almost every Mediterranean house. The reason
for this balcony that during the day the house that is made of stones getting very very hot and
in the evening you cannot sit in it because it’s too hot. So you go out to the balcony that
made of wood enjoying the breeze. Enjoying   the breeze. So you will see this kind of small
balconies almost in every Mediterranean house. Okay. And this lighthouse Mhm. um is not working
today, but it’s only a symbol for Jaffa being uh a port city. I think it’s the first
lighthouse in Israel. It could be. Could   be. Yeah. And the the room the house is closed
because they have a huge debate between of course the Muslims and the Christians who own
the house. Yeah. But it says on the wall here,   House of Simon. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Indeed, indeed. But I’ve been there only once. Only once in my life. We are now having a very
very nice descent during the the port. And look how narrow the street are. This is how Jaffa look
look like. Okay. Very very narrow streets. Oh, and the breeze. I mean I mean it’s the end of
October and it’s so hot. Then you can imagine what’s happening here in August. July
and August, September. It’s terrible. I bought a house here lately. You Yes. Yes. Yes.
Yes. I will show you. Are you a billionaire? I am a billionaire. Yeah. In my in my dreams. See
that that door 18? That’s my house. It’s facing to the port. Yeah. One day, one day it will be
mine. Okay. One day. So, we can go to the port either from here or here. No, we will go from
here. Look how beautiful are the It is. It is. It is. Now in that part, people likes to fold and
please don’t fold. Yeah. And it’s my zodiac sign in Hebrew. Zodiac Mazal. Oh, another very It’s
another shop. Another very important gallery that is closed because of lack of tourists.
Yeah. Um there’s a very nice Benamot but it’s not for them. Yeah. It’s an easily crazy author
that I love. No, I just I want to say something. Say something. When I’m here with a group, when we
go down this street Yes. If a person doesn’t say, “Wow.” When we exit, he doesn’t get dessert. Okay.
All right. And then prepare yourself for that because he can listen to each one of you guys.
Did you subscribe to my channel? Okay. Uh-huh. So we are going down and we are going down. Double
meaning. 9 8 Are you ready? 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 Wow. It’s beautiful. Do you want to talk about the
the the rock with the flag of Israel on it? Yeah. All right. And we will do that later
on because we are now going to drink   and to charge our battery.
Human and technology. Yes.

Information about the area of Jaffa itself will be provided after this announcement

I was with Erez Giron in JAFFA, where we conducted a fascinating and informative tour of this remarkable city. During our exploration, we discussed its rich history, sacred atmosphere, and the stories that make Jerusalem one of the most meaningful places on earth.

We also explored the area of Jaffa, one of the oldest port cities in the world and an inseparable part of the story of the Land of Israel. Known today as Old Jaffa, this ancient city has existed for thousands of years and is mentioned in Egyptian inscriptions and biblical texts. It served as a strategic gateway to the land and was the main port for Jerusalem for centuries. Through Jaffa passed cedar wood from Lebanon used to build the First and Second Temples.

Our tour began at the Clock Square, a lively center built by the Ottomans in the early 20th century to symbolize modernization and progress. From there, we continued to the “Unknown Gate” of the city, a lesser-known but historically intriguing entrance that reveals layers of Jaffa’s long past.

We also visited the Flying Orange Tree, a whimsical art installation created by sculptor Ran Morin. Suspended in the air by steel cables, the orange tree represents the blend of nature, history, and imagination that characterizes Jaffa. Nearby stands the Ilana Goor Museum, housed in an 18th-century building that once served as an inn for Jewish pilgrims on their way to Jerusalem. Today it showcases Ilana Goor’s extraordinary collection of art and design from around the world.

From there, we continued to St. Peter’s Church, one of Jaffa’s most iconic landmarks. Built in the 17th century by the Franciscans, it commemorates the Apostle Peter’s miraculous vision and his meeting with Cornelius, the Roman centurion. This event, according to the New Testament, marked the opening of Christianity to the Gentiles. Not far away is the House of Simon the Tanner, where Peter is believed to have stayed during his time in Jaffa. This site is one of the most important Christian landmarks in the city.

We wandered through the narrow alleys of Old Jaffa, filled with art galleries, stone arches, and ancient buildings that whisper stories from the time of the Egyptians, Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, and Crusaders. From the top of the ancient mound, Tel Jaffa, we enjoyed a breathtaking panoramic view of modern Tel Aviv and the Mediterranean Sea. This high point has been continuously inhabited for more than 4,000 years, making it one of the oldest continuously lived-in places in the world.
