How is this Possible? Paris Markets are Inferior to Turkish Markets!

No one battered an eyelid. Everyone was friendly. The ground is swept. The air smells of citrus, not urine. And why is that? Because it’s well policed, unlike Paris. Unformed officers stroll, not loom. But also homogeneous. One culture, one rhythm, one set of manners. Trust is the default here. Now, these farmers aren’t rich, but they’re not surfs either. They own their land, set their prices, talk directly to the eater. Almost every lera spent here lands in the pockets of the man who woke up at 4:00 a.m. to pick it. In the west, that same lera becomes shareholder value, executive bonuses, and patent on seed. And here’s the deeper cut. We’ve confused convenience with civilization. We built systems that punish flavor, reward durability, and we call it efficiency. Mediocracy mass-roduced and marketed as choice. Turkey reminds us that eating well isn’t elite. It’s ancestral. It’s democratic.

🇹🇷 A Turkish market puts Europe to shame…
Wandering through Antalya’s local market, I couldn’t help but compare it to places like Paris’ Marché Barbès — and honestly, Turkey wins hands down. Cleaner, friendlier, fresher… real food, real people, real culture.

Meanwhile, in the West?
Plastic-wrapped “fresh” produce and sky-high prices. Something’s gone very wrong…
