Today we’re talking about one of the biggest announcements in the Car River Cruise industry this year, Celebrity River Cruises. Yes, you heard that right. Celebrity is going to the rivers of Europe. This brand new line will bring celebrities modern design, award-winning service, and five-star dining from the ocean to the river. Sailing right into the heart of Europe’s most beautiful cities along the Danube and the Rine. If you ever loved sailing on Celebrity Edge, Beyond, or Escent, or you’ve cruised with other luxury cruise lines like Viking River Cruise, Amma Waterways, Avalon, or Uni World, you’ll want to see this because Celebrity River Cruises promises to redefine what modern luxury river cruising looks like. In this video, I’ll cover everything we know so far. What makes Celebrity River cruises different from others luxury river lines? Where they’ll sail, what the ships will be like, what’s included, when and how you can book, my personal insights and answers to your most asked questions. So, grab your coffee because this is your insider look at the next generation of European river cruising with Celebrity Cruises. And here’s the wild part. When priority booking opened September 3rd, the demand was so high that celebrities website shut down within six minutes. Yes, 6 minutes. But the real question is, is there still space available? Stick around because I’ll tell you what I found out. Celebrity Cruises, part of the Royal Caribbean Group, has long been known for its cuttingedge ship, worldclass design, and refined style. From the celebrity edge and beyond and essence, they’ve set a new standard in ocean cruising, combining modern luxury with destination focused experiences. Now, they’re taking the same philosophy and bring it to Europe’s rivers. Why? Because today’s travelers, especially celebrity loyal guests, are asking for something more intimate, more immersive, and more connected to the places they visit. On a river cruise, you are not hundreds of miles offshore. You’re right in the center of it all, sailing past vineyards, docking in the medieval towns, walking straight into the local markets and castles. Celebrities saw the growing popularity of river cruising. And here is a telling statistic. About half of celebrity ocean cruise guests have already experienced or intend to take a river cruise. Company realized that they could bring their award-winning hospitality, design, and service culture to this new setting. Their vision is to reimagine the river cruise experience to make it more spacious, more stylish, and unmistakably celebrity. Celebrity river cruises will launch in August 2027, starting with two brand new vessels, Celebrity Compass and Celebrity Seeker. These won’t be repurposed ships or shared designs. They’re being created from the ground up. The company has signed on an order for 10 ships total with two launching in 2027, four more vessel in 2028 and four additional vessel in 2029. But let’s focus on what we know about Compass and Seer. Each ship will carry 172 guests in 86 stateooms at double occupancy. Now, I know that sounds small compared to ocean ships, but on European rivers, this is actually ideal. It’s intimate without being cramped. And here’s what makes this ships revolutionary. Celebrity has developed a patent pending industry-leading design that they claim will be unlike anything else on the river. One of the most impressive features is what Celebrity calls revolutionally open decks. Offering the most usable outdoor space of any rivership, these decks remain accessible throughout the entire journey, giving guests uninterrupted 360° views. Picture transformative shaped structures and furniture that maximize your time on deck. There’s a top deck bar grill for alfresco dining while you take in scenic river views. And get this, there is an infinity edge punch bowl where you can cool off while watching European landscapes glide by. Now here is the showstopper magic edge. These are the first ever canal levered dining pods on the river cruise ship. A river reinterpretation of celebrities signature magic carpet venue for their edgeclass ocean ships. Imagine dining floating above the river, pendant over the water, while enjoying regional destinationdriven culinary offerings. This is the kind of innovative design that’s going to turn heads on the waterways of Europe. Let’s talk about where you’ll actually be staying because Celebrity has really thought about this. There are five stateateroom categories, and here’s something that set Celebrity apart immediately. Every single cabin features a king-size bed, river view room, the most affordable option with a small window and 157 square ft. Infinity balcony features wallto-wall windows with that signature celebrity infinite veranda concept where the windows opens to create an indoor and outdoor space. Balcony includes a veranda that seats too for enjoying those river views from your own private outdoor space. Skylight infinite balcony suite. This is described as one of a kind. It features floor toseeiling windows, a separate living area, and here’s the unique part, a ceiling window for natural light. Butler service is included, plus a stock mini bar. Vista balcony suite, the largest and the most luxurious accommodation. It has separate living and sleeping areas, a bathroom with dual sinks, an expensive veranda with panoramic views, and dedicated butler service. All stateoom amenities include king-size beds with premium bedding, spy inspired bathrooms, walk-in wardrobes in select suites, complimentary stocked mini bars. Yes, complimentary destination inspired amenities, enhanced storage designed for the way you really travel, onboard concour services, turndown service, complimentary in room breakfast. Sweet guests receive some serious upgrades. Butler chat on demand. Digital butler service. Complimentary laundry service once per sailing. Exclusive happy hour experience. Exclusive dining experience once per sailing. Complimentary room service. Premium drink package while other guests get the classic beverage package. Priority booking for sure excursions. If you’re already a celebrity captain’s club member, your loyalty travels with you to the rivers. You’ll earn 8 to 18 points per night depending on your room category. Specific tier benefits will be announced in 2026. Let’s talk about what the on board experience will feel like because this is where Celebrity really excels. Celebrity river cruises will feature six restaurants and bars. This includes celebrity favorites like Martini Bar, Sunset Bar, Capel Bacho, The Magic Edge, Canton Dining Pods, a Top Deck Bar and Grill, and more dining venues yet to be revealed. Here’s something unique. Celebrity is offering the only 24/7 meal option on Europe’s rivers. You want breakfast at 6:00 a.m.? Done. Late snacks at midnight, no problem. This level of flexibility is unprecedented in river cruising. All meals are included, featuring regionally inspired menus with fresh local ingredients, local baked morning pastries, dinner that reflects the culture around you. When you’re in Austria, you’re eating Austrian food. In Germany, authentic German dishes, beautifully presented multicourse meals, complimentary breakfast room service for all guests. All guests receive celebrities classic beverage package including their cruise fair. This covers select wine, beer, cocktails, coffee, and soft drinks all day, not just at meals. Sweet guests receive a premium beverage package, which is also available for purchase for nonsweet guest. Details on upgrading will be announced closer to the sailing date. Entertainment will be more intimate than on ocean ships. Live music in the evenings. Local performers, cultural talks and enrichment programs about destinations, culinary demonstrations, lectures preparing you for the next day’s sport, special themed events on decks. It’s a five-star floating boutique hotel experience, but with a distinctly European cultural focus. So, where will Celebrity Combat and Celebrity Seeker actually take you? For 2027, Celebrity River Cruises will be sailing 33 seven night itineraries on two of Europe’s most loved waterways, the Daniel River and the Ryan River. The very first ship Celebrity Compos will start sailing in August 2027, followed by her sister ship, the Celebrity Seeker, in October. Together, they’ll bring travelers into the heart of Europe along the legendary Danube and Ryan Rivers. One of the first itineraries, the Denu, Budapest in Vienna, begins a beautiful Budapest. Picture the ship gliding past Parliament at dusk, the city sparkling across the river. You’ll visit Bredes Lava, Heimberg, and Vienna. Then you’ll sail through breathtaking Vaja Valley, past Mal Abbey before arriving in Bavarian town of Lunhoff. There’s also the reverse journey, the Danube, Vienna, and Budapest, where you start in Germany and finish in Hungary. Along the way, you’ll see charming gems like Saltbergs, Ryan, Dunstein, and tomb towns that feel straight out of the story book. Then, as the season turns to winter, these ships will transform for Christmas market cruises. Magical voyages through Europe’s most festive towns. You’ll stroll past flowing lights in Nuremberg, sip hot wine in Vienna, and find handmade ornaments in Passau. And to finish the year in style, celebrity will sail the Ryan River for holiday and New Year’s voyages from Nuremberg to Amsterdam. Or imagine ringing in the New Year’s as fireworks spark over Amsterdam’s canals or hearing church bells echo along the line. Each sailing is crafted to capture the rhythm of Europe and centuries of culture, all from the comfort of brand new celebrity river ships. Specific excursions haven’t been released yet, but the brochure mentions private wine tasting in Austria, thermal bath in Budapest, and cycling a lot in the Denu. Passengers will have their choices of one excursion per day. Celebrity plans to offer pre and post cruiseeland packages in cities like Prague and Budapest, perfectly created extensions that continue the Celebrity experience on land. Details will be announced in 2026. One of the biggest questions I always get is what’s included. Celebrity has made it simple and generous. Included in your cruise fair, all gourmet meals throughout the day. 24/7 dining access. The only line offering this classic beverage package. Wine, beer, cocktails, coffee, soft drinks all day. Sweet guests receive premium beverage package. One daily shark excursion in every port. Wi-Fi throughout the ship. Fort Peas and Texas. All on board entertainment. Enrichment programs and cultural talks. Daily housekeeping and turndown service. 24-hour coffee and tea. Complimentary in room breakfast for all guests. Complimentary stocked mini bars in all cabins. Just remember there is no casino, there is no theater. The focus is on destination, immersion, dining and outdoor spaces. According to the deck plans, Celebrity Compass and Celebrity Seeker will have four decks typical for river ships. The layout maximizes that revolutionary outdoor space while maintaining intimate indoor venues. You may be wondering how will Celebrity River Cruises compare to other well-known lines like Amma Waterways, Avalon, Viking or Uni World. From what we know, Celebrity is positioning itself in the upper premium to luxury tier, but with a contemporary twist. More modern and sleek than Viking, less ornate than world. Six restaurants and bars versus the typical one main dining room and lounge that most private cruise lines offer. Plus 247 dining which no one else provides. The magic edge can lever dining pods skylight infinite balcony suites with ceiling windows. Infinite edge plunge pool. Celebrity claims to offer the most usable outdoor space of any rivership with decks that remain accessible throughout the journey. Every single cabin has a king-size bed. Complimentary mini bars in all categories, not just suites. Who will love this? Levery river cruisers will attract current celebrity ocean cruise fans who want a river experience with a familiar quality. Travelers who appreciate modern design of a traditional European decor. Couples looking for romance with contemporary feel. People who value innovation and want to try something new on the rivers. And honestly, it’s going to shake up the river cruise world because celebrities brand power and loyal audience over half their guests interested in the river cruise will bring thousand of new guests to this market. On September 25th, 2025, Celebrity opened the remaining inventory to the general public. As of now, there is still availability on 2027 sailings, but it’s going fast. If you’re interested in being on one of these first sailings, don’t wait. River cruises booked up well in advance anyways, but with this celebrity brand recognitions and that 6 minutes sellout, popular dates and cabin categories will disappear quickly. And remember, this is brand new product. Being on one of the first sailings mean you’ll experience the newest, most innovative river ships on Europe’s waterways before everyone else. Before we wrap up, let me quickly answer the most common questions I’ve been getting about celebrity river cruises. Are gratuitities included? No, gratuitities are not included. They’re automatically charged based on your cabin. $18 per night for river view, $19 per night for infinite balcony, and $23 per night for suite. So, budget an extra 126 to 161 per person for a 7 night cruise. What’s the price range? Pricing starts at $2,999 per person for river view cabins and goes up to $6,899 for vista balcony suites on seven night sailings. This includes meals, beverage, Wi-Fi, and one excursion per port. Can I travel solo? Yes, solo travelers can book any cabin, but you’ll pay a solo supplement fee. What the dress code? casual and comfortable during the day. Smart casual for evening dining. Think jeans or slats during the day. And step it up for dressed or colored shirts for dinner. No formal wear needed. What’s the minimum age? Children must be at least 4 years old on the first day of the cruise. Guests 4 to 18 years old must share a cabin with their parents. Guests 18 plus can book their own stateaterooms. These are things the river cruise line industry hasn’t seen before. But here is what really matters. Will it live up to what they’re promising? I’m cautiously optimistic. Celebrity has proven themselves on the ocean. They delivered on their promises of innovation and quality. They understand luxury hospitality. They know how to train staff and they have the resources of Royal Caribbean Group behind them. That said, river cruising is different beast. The logistics are complex, the spaces are more intimate, and European rivers come with their own challenges. The real test will be how Celebrity will adapt their ocean cruise expertise to the smaller vessels and whether that signature celebrity service translates to 172 guest river ships. The fact that they’re starting with just two ships in 2027 is actually smart. It gives them time to refine the product before scaling up to 10 ships by 2029. They’re not rushing. They’re being thoughtful. What I love most is that celebrities attracting a whole new demographic to river cruising. People who might have thought river cruises were too traditional or not for them are now taking a second look. And that energy, that fresh perspective, it’s going to elevate the entire river cruise industry. So yes, I’m excited.
