Unpolished charm of the Med – where the French go on holidays in their own country

Well, here we are. Yeah. Let’s snoop under water. Cool. Welcome to Now, let’s say this properly. Never ever heard of it until we came here. So, we are going less than an hour southeast of Marles towards Central. I’m just trying to figure out how to get a good French accent. I think what you do is you pretend you’ve got a dog turd right under your nose. First swim. Nice and clean. The fishes are very, very lucky to live here and other creatures. I think it was like the end of September, so it was just starting to get a bit cooler, but still beautiful in the water. Like just stunning. This is where we’re staying. How we found this place is by researching where the French go on holidays in their own country and where the best beaches are in France. Let’s take this in for a bit. a few hours later. Some nice vibes, very chilled. So, this certainly doesn’t look as high-end and posh and kind of Sophia Ren playground as some of the other parts of the south of France, but it’s a little bit more, I guess, feels accessible. It doesn’t feel quite as international. Feels very comfortable. Does that make sense? Yeah, it kind of has that very locals on holidays vibe. And the day after. I also read that they have an old town within walking distance. So, we should go. The old town is less than 4 km from the beach. And on the way to the old town, we saw this metal structure, which happened to be an observation tower, 43 m tall, apparently. I bet the views are great from up there. I’m going to climb that. Cool. Let’s go over there. Let’s go have a look. He’s up there. He’s climbing back down. Shut the up. I read that about 62,000 people live in the area. And surprise surprise, the old town was just beautiful. So, here’s some picturesing. There’s a lot of art in this town. It’s just everywhere. It’s pretty cool. That’s pretty cute. Go to church. Cute, right? Let’s get out of here. I want to go back to the beach. So totally worth putting on your itinerary. Very good local hang by the men. And uh we’ll have another video up soon, won’t we? We will.

When we did our research on where the French actually go on holidays in their own country, this was one of our options. So we packed our bags and headed over there in search of authentic French holiday vibes. Tucked away on the Mediterranean coast, the internet research promised us “unpolished charm”, stunning beaches, crystal clear waters and a slice of real local life, without the Riviera price tag or glitz.

Did it live up our expectations or did we get it all completely wrong? Let’s find out! 🇫🇷🌊☀️🤿
