Experience what it is like to cross the whole country of Norway in freight train at 3am. Departing the freight terminal at Alnabru in Oslo. The departure is almost three hours behind schedule and we’re fighting clock crossing Norway from east to west as precise and efficient as possible to combat that delay.
This is more than a whole shift, this is the WHOLE TRIP from TERMINAL TO TERMINAL.

469Km, terminal to terminal, from Oslo to Bergen. And not only that, there is a retention test at the end as well 😉 hehe! Lets gooo Cab Crew!
Your videos never disappoint me!
Awesome job RCG it is hard to find that right headlight for those foggy nights
Just making a comment here to see what kind of emoji or whatever I got added to it. I think I'm a member, but I don't know.
Spotted the rabbit at 4.25.10! – – – Retention test – was the toilet block locked, and you had to go and find the key? 🙂
At 6:17:43, in the tunnel before Bergen, is that a rockfall?
Finished in three sessions.
While watching the eerie night landscape, I started to cheer you on in your dramatic fight to get back on time, which almost succeeded as you cut your 170-minute delay to 11 minutes.
I'm not sure if this is the first video through the renovated old tube of the Ulriken Tunnel?
Answers:
-Geilo to Reimergrend (this was interesting; I would have guessed the grade counts, so from Ål to Voss, didn't think of it that exposure to weather is just as important).
-19xx…
-Freight trains bypassing Oslo main station
-196x, when electrification was finished
I made it to the end but it took me 3 days. To answer your questions I will need a second trip. 🥰🥰🥰
Epic! – thank you!
What's with the horizontal timber battens at the entrance to each tunnel? It's like someone at the public works dept. watched too many home decoration shows
I’ll be honest with you. I can’t answer any of those questions. I think, if I was paying attention, you two made up about an hour of time. The part where you said about 5 and a half hours of continuous operation, you needed a relief driver? Is there a regulation that tells you how many hours of downtime you must take until you are allowed to drive your next assignment?
Just for curiosity sake, do you ever find yourself wishing you were driving a steam engine?
Is there a notch in the wheel on the locomotive or where is the knocking sound coming from?
Fantastic run, very high quality video, the terminal movements interesting, was that an ex Danish MZ at Oslo?
A truly amazing ride. At night under dark Sky's too.
I waited for this video sooooooooooo long. I wanted this video where you driving from Oslo to Alnabru but at least you managed to make at least a video where you drive from Alnabru to Oslo. Congratulations!!!
HI, as a retired train driver I'm just curious about your working day. How long is your working day and what rest periods are available for you ? Once again many thanks for the videos , Regards Eurwyn.
Have there ever been situations with People walking in the tunnels?
Love your videos! I'll pull one up on my second monitor to help chill and focus during a stressful workday. I find the changing urban and rural scenery very calming. I always appreciate your onscreen commentary and historical notes. Using the RailCowGirl logo to protect the ID of rail workers and passengers passing by cracks me up! I think that racing through the foggy night at speed would make me a little nervous if I were at the controls.
Takk for fin film.
😍
Question: Some of the tunnels have alcoves from time to time on once side or the other. Some times filled with electrical equipment. Some alcoves or side tunnels seem very deep. Are people ever found living or camping in these alcoves?
Only 11 mins late into Bergen! Great work by Train crew and dispatchers to make up that delay.
Well it seems I am a true champigon again but as for the retention test….well!! Watched the video over 5 days beenbusy as, but thoroughly enjoyed it. Thankyou so much RCG. Also the little Aviation video you put up last night was awesome. ✈✈
I can watch this ALL day!!
Great video on a saturday evening. And at 51:00 there is a car on your right hand side saying hello 🥳
Nice trip! Thankyou! ❤
1:26:31What is this animal?
The only thing better would be to be in the cab in person
I knew you would make it with time to spare. It took me two days to watch but I always enjoy the sights. Kinda scary going fast in the fog though. Happy Thanksgiving if you have time to celebrate it.
The sound is fascinating, as if you have a playful dog chewing a bone
One day…. One day, I will visit Norway. This is an absolute MUST DO. Like two weeks or so. My last "real" vacation was two decades ago and that was Croatia. I try my very, very best to express myself with text. I feel an I-want-to-grab-someone-and-shake-'em-dizzy emotion. 😑 I hope this is understandable.
I love you and what you do for us. ❤
I just came across your channel after doing a search for information regarding the rail simulator game Simrail. I enjoyed watching you drive. The signals and sights remind me of the game even though it takes place in Poland. The game has some very long runs which I find hard to complete. My respect to you and all the other train drivers who do this job everyday.
Works out about £0.33 per hour for 60hrs editing so not exactly payback! Just a little to show appreciation for all your work. Thank you for making and sharing the videos RCG, all the very best 🙂
It's here, the full journey! Perfect background video for when I'm at work. So I'm afraid I missed the answers to your retention test at the end. :-# But it's wonderful to see the scenery pass by, and have something to look at while I'm compiling or have to wait for something. Tusen takk! <3
A old EL14 longside at 4:40 in Alnabru. Fantastic old workinghorse…
I love that you replaced the face of a person with the symbol. Loved it.
