Why You Should Visit Nice France in the Fall 🇫🇷 French Riviera Travel

Welcome to Nice, the capital of the French Riviera. We’re Kathy and Derek, full-time travelers in our 50s, traveling the world since July of 2024 and bringing you our experiences so you can also build the life of your dreams. Just arrived. It’s around 1:00, so we dropped our bags at our hotel and we’re going to go off and get some lunch. [Music] That was a delightful lunch. It was so healthy and there’s pretty much nothing on that menu I wouldn’t have wanted to eat. [Music] Welcome to Nice. [Music] Funny enough, Nie actually reminded us an awful lot of Santa Monica, just the French version. [Music] It’s the last weekend in September. Gorgeous day, as you can see, and very, very chill out here. Not hardly any crowds, um, but enough people to make it feel lively. So, yeah, it’ll be interesting to see how the day progresses, especially this evening. [Music] [Applause] After enjoying some sunshine and a good look at the beach, we decided to head into the old part of Nice. [Music] Old Nice is a mustsee. The winding streets and piazas filled with charming little cafes and shops are vibrant and upbeat. And it’s also the home to a lot of Nie’s clubby nightife. [Music] We’re walking through the old part of Nice and it’s this little section over by the water and it’s so cute in here. It’s all these narrow streets and um a lot of cafes and restaurants, pubs, pubs, bars. So, we’re going to go probably get a cappuccino because we’re a little bit tired from getting up so early. We’re going to power ourselves up for the pub later. [Music] We’re getting ready to hit the town. It’s apppero hour, so we’re going to go find probably something to drink. And we’re probably going to go simple tonight and go to a bangerie and then do some people watching down by the water. [Music] Derek and I came to love and appreciate bingeries after our month in Paris. When you don’t want to fuss or you want to eat in an hour that’s considered off by the French sensibilities, the Bologerie is your friend. Plus, they’re delicious and relatively affordable. Joys for dinner. [Music] We’re just talking about all the people having picnics down on the beach and how uh it’s pretty much better than anything you can do. You’re like right at the water. You’re drinking exactly what you want to drink. You’re having a little snack that you love. It’s ideal. We got these for like €7. We got a big cookie for dessert for like €350. And then we each got one drink. And um so instead of going to a restaurant, it’s a little more enjoyable to be free form down here. We got these for €7 each. We got a big cookie that we’re going to split for €350. And then I got a beer for €250. and Kathy got cocktail mix and um and it’s all on our own time. We don’t have to wait for the waiter and front row seat to everything. Cookie time. Hey, good morning. Look at this breakfast spread, you guys. The hotel we stayed at was moderately priced, well located, and had a good breakfast. We’ll put a link to it in the caption. We didn’t film this last night, but we tried out this hotel’s bar, and it’s really pretty, and they had live music, but the cost of the drinks was way too crazy. It was like $28 for a cocktail and like $16 and $18 for a mocktail. So, we ended up just sitting there for a few minutes and then leaving. If you feel like dropping a lot of money, that’s a nice place to be. But otherwise, I would pass it. There’s a lot of other good places to go. Good morning. So, we’re starting our day off with a nice long stroll along the Proomenade de Long. And this is like a 7 kilometer walk that goes to the north from where we are up towards the airport and also goes all the way down to the old town. And it’s gorgeous. And there’s tons of people out here running. Look at all these bikers going by. People enjoying the super calm sea. The sea is like more calm than a lot of lakes right now. It’s so beautiful. Heat. Heat. N. [Music] Heat. Hey. Hey. Hey. [Music] So this piece is from 1400. She believes in dragons. She gets caught and then she loses her head. [Music] All right, we’re on the move. We’re going to get burgers. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Good man. Very good. [Music] Here’s [Music] [Music] [Music] what’s left of the apple cake as part of the dinner. Dererick had a pano chocolat and I had a little bit of salad all from the bulerie. And now we’re just going to relax and watch a movie in the room. We had a wonderful time here in Nice in the last weekend of September. The weather was in like the mid to low uh 60s in the mornings and the low 70s in the afternoons. If you’re looking for a beach day, it would be wonderful. The water was around 73°. So, all in all, peace in September is a great choice. It’s much less crowded than in the summer and the accommodation costs are lower and it’s still great weather. [Music]
