Costa Calma: Fuerteventura’s Best Nude Beaches

The Canary Island Fuert Ventura is one of Europe’s most famous nu beach destinations, especially in the southeast of the island. Costakama is where the coast really turns into one very long naked walk. The emerald waters, soft dunes, and endless space are unique in the world, which is why we are zooming into Costa Kalma today. Here’s the quick picture. Costa Kalma sits on the southeast of the Kandia Peninsula. From the edge of town, you can wander clothes free almost all the way to Murakab, slipping between calm coes and wild open beaches. If you start in town, the last bay feel different right away. The prominade fades, the sand opens up and nudity begins to appear as you walk south. The breeze softens behind the low dunes and the water stays clear and inviting. A small local cove near the H10 Tindaya Resort makes an easy first dip. It’s clothing optional. It’s relaxed and at lower tide, you can keep moving along the rocks towards the next beaches. If the tide pushes in, just put your saong around your waist and head up to rejoin a nearby coastal pot a bit further. Players Meralda North is your first wow moment. A protected cove with pale gold sand and shallow clear water. It is very nude friendly and the vibe is unhurried. On a calm morning, you hear only the soft lap of water and the rustle of dune grass. Just around the corner, Playa Esmeralda spreads wide. The bay lifts up to the name with turquoise waters and small dunes that take the edge of the wind. Loungers are spaced out and it’s common to see more naked people than bathing suits. Playas Meralda is a very very popular beach and if it would be too crowded for your likes, just walk a few minutes away from the main pot and settle behind the dune or in one of the smaller coasts. As we head further south, we immediately arrive at one of the most epic beaches on the Canary Islands. But before we’re getting there, let’s have a quick word about where to stay. You can easily pick one of the big resorts, but that also means that you’ll be gathering tan lines when you’re not on the beach, and we don’t want that, right? For those who prefer to keep that amazing tan and spend full days without clothes, we’d like to introduce you to the sponsor of this video, BH Naturous Resort. It’s easy to chat with other guests if you want and just as easy to drift into a quiet corner with a good book. Be careful though. It’s tempting to spend your whole vacation around the swimming pool of BH, but then you’ll be missing out on some spectacular beaches, like Sutento, for example. This is one of those beaches that just seems to run forever. It’s several kilometers long with sandbarss and lagoons that appear at low tide. It can get very windy here, making it also a popular spot for surfers. But if you just walk a bit away from the shoreline, you can easily find protected spots between the small dunes. Further to the south, the mood softens again at Playa Malre. This name literally translates to bad name beach. I have no idea what that is about. All I know is that in my memory, it has a really good name. Think long white sand, clear water, and lots of stone circles that can protect you from the wind. There’s a beach bar for a cold drink, and the entry into the water is shallow, so waiting out feels safe and slow. We keep walking along the shore, and the beaches of Eskenzo and Boutondo keep the rhythm going. They’re wide and sandy with dunes at the back and easy walking at low tide. Nude sun bidding is most common in the quieter ends and between hotel zones. If the tide comes up, the beach narrows and gets rockier. So, make sure to time your stroll. Keep walking and the beach grows into play del Materal in Kandia. This is a huge stretch of sand with a protected salt flat behind it. Expect more bathing suits right in front of hotels and restaurants. But on this beach, too, naked is as much a possible way to dress as any other. From here, it’s a gentle finish in Tumor. Cafes and ice cream shops line the prominade, and the long horizon stays the same. On still evenings, the water turns silver and the lighthouse flashes over the dunes. As mentioned earlier, it is possible to walk the whole 20 kilometer plus stretch of the coastline in the N, but do bring a towel or saddong to cover up if some spots would be uncomfortably crowded with bathing suits. and keep an eye on the tides so you can walk on the wide sandy stretches instead of the rocky sides. If you’re not such a big walker, no worries. All these beaches have parking lots, so you can easily drive from one to the other. Or just pick one beach and spend all your time there. It’s your vacation. You can do whatever you want. Also important to know is that most beaches have free toilets, but you need to bring your own toilet paper. If you rent a lounger on one of these beaches, it’s totally fine to sunbake naked on it. Just make sure to always lay on a towel or sum. And if it would be a windy day, which are quite common on Fuert Ventura, go early to the beach to secure a windbreaker. That’s Costa Kalma for you.
