SANTORINI LUXURY FAMILY TRIP π¬π· Greece’s Incredible Island!
[Music] Hello everyone. We’re finally back in Greece once again after 2 years. One of our favorite countries in the world. And from the views behind me, you can probably already guess where we are. So, this is the incredible island of Santorini. Right now, we’re in Ia. Last time, we stayed in Fra, the capital, which is all the way over there. So this trip is basically a special trip for Chris’s mom birthday. She’s going to be 70 tomorrow. Tomorrow. Yeah. So we decided to do something special. And also my mom turned 60, you know, like 2 months ago. So it’s like a special trip for the the special dates. I think it’s a big thing to become 70 and 60. So yeah, we decided to take them here to one of our favorite places in the world. Yeah. And we also booked an amazing accommodation. So this is $766 a night. All this is our villa, our own private villa with the amazing view, as you could see. And we have this swimming pool. Looks really nice, too. And we also have breakfast included every morning. Yeah, I think the guy said they’re going to bring it at 8:30. So in this part, there’s two rooms. Mine and Carol’s is going to be in here. It’s kind of dark inside cuz there’s no other windows. Really huge bed. And then her mom and brother are going to be in this one. Pretty much the same. Oh, that one has a window over there. And then this is the bathroom. Also looks nice. Kind of feels like we’re in a cave. Yeah. That’s very common here in Santorini to stay in caves. Yeah, the cave style. Yeah, I like it. And then through here is the kitchen. So, we can do some cooking if we want. I think we’re probably going to be out in the restaurants all the time, though. And this is the other room where my parents will be staying. So, this is just one bedroom in this one. Seems to be more of a fancier one. And here’s mom and dad. Hello. You guys have been in Greece how long so far? Uh, three. Two. Two weeks. Yeah. Two weeks. Oh, really? I thought it was just a week. About 10 days in Cit in Cre will be 10 days, but we’ve been traveling like that cuz we went to Bolognia in Italy. Yeah. Enjoy Cit. Yeah. Good. Yeah. Yeah. We’re also lucky that the weather is absolutely incredible. We thought that it might be cold this time of the year. I mean, it’s going to be winter soon, but yeah, it’s been perfect. Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] So, we’re just going to go walking around here now. Only just realized that there’s also this other part of our villa at the top. Some more seats. It really is the perfect accommodation. So, we’re about a 15minute walk from the main center of so it’s actually pretty laid-back right now to walk around. Not so busy. I think there’s six cruises here today as well. So, there’ll definitely be a crowd somewhere. So, when we came here 3 years ago, we actually walked from the capital FA all the way to IA. So, we came all the way across there. I think it took about 2 or 3 hours. Quite a long time. The first cute little Greek chapel that we’re seeing. Going to be visiting many of those. We’re actually making our way to the big yellow church that’s back there. Oh, how I missed Greece. Yeah, me too. Can’t believe it took us 2 years to come back. So, this one is called AOS Gorus St. George. A lot of the churches that you visit in Greece have that name. And right now, we’re just looking for a place to eat. We might eat at that one over there. There’s a nice view of the other side of the island. Also, this one, too. Melatini. So, we decided to come to the Melatini one. They have a second floor, so even better views from up here. I’m finally going to be eating the Saganaki again. Appetizer, β¬9. And I think I’ll go for the lamb sausage. β¬10. [Music] [Music] We’re back at the villa. Now going to make the most of the pool before the sun goes down. We thought we might be able to get the sunset here, but I think the sun’s going to go behind that building that way. So all this is the caldera of a volcano. It erupted in 1,600 BC. So before then, this would have all been land. And you can just see there’s a part in the middle like an island. We’re actually going to go there tomorrow on a tour. We’ve never done that before. You can walk on it, too. I think there’s some hot springs. Yeah, it’s a bit on the chilly side. We didn’t even know if we would be able to come in the pool. There’s some accommodations that have heated pools. We thought maybe we’d need to stay in one of those. But yeah, it’s still okay. Time for some wine. Yeah. From Greece. It’s Greek wine. Yeah. Yeah. We just got it from the supermarket. What’s it called? Don’t know how you say that. Kiloa. I don’t know. Kiloa. Yeah. Dry white wine. So, this wine is β¬6. Pretty tasty though. Yeah. When I was looking for a place to stay here, most of the places had like a jacuzzi, like warm water, and that’s what I wanted cuz I thought it would be colder at this time of the year, but luckily it’s not cold at all. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Birthday cake time. [Applause] [Applause] So, we’re making our way to FRA now, the capital to do the boat tour to the Caldera. So, the tour is β¬30 per person. That’s for a 3-hour tour, including some swimming, too. We’re just making our way to the bus station now in IA. Bus leaves at 9:30. You can rent quad bikes here. A lot of people get around the Greek islands on those. We rented one once on Knos Island. Was pretty fun. [Music] During our trip in Greece, we have been using Olafly once again. Olafly is an eim provider, a virtual SIM card, which means you don’t need to buy a physical SIM card for every destination that you visit. We’ve been using Olafly e Sims for the past 3 years while traveling around Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. For this special family trip, Carol’s mother and brother are also using Olafly, which we recommended to them since we know it’s reliable. They got a Europe eim as they are visiting three different European countries. This means that they can travel between each country without having to switch eims. And one of the biggest perks for us is that Olafly offer unlimited data in over 270 destinations. So you never have to worry about running out of data or paying for topups. Plus, you can customize the number of days you need, which is convenient for trips of any length. Setting up the Olafly ESIM is really easy. When you buy one on their website, they instantly send you a QR code via email. Then you can scan the QR code to install the ESIM and it’s ready to go in minutes. You can set it up before your trip so that you have internet the moment that you arrive. Grab Anola Fly Eim for your next trip by clicking on the link in the video description and using our code jumping places for 5% off your next order. So, the bus was β¬2 per person. We actually arrived early cuz on the time table it said the buses were at 8:30 and then 9:30 and we arrived around 9:00 and there was a bus there already and he left. So, yeah, maybe the time table is not completely a fixed time. So, we got a long time now cuz the tour is only at 11:00. So, we’ll be able to hang around fear a bit. I think we’re all going to get a coffee. Yeah. So, this is a cool spot that my parents have been to before. Nice style. Can get a latte macchiato β¬460. Espresso single shot β¬250. They have decaf. Yeah. Available decaf. Oh, okay. I’ll probably get that then. So, now we’re near the center of FAR. I remember this massive church last time. Might be one of the biggest ones on the island. The colors always look really nice when you get the clear blue skies, whites, and the blues. Can see the two big cruise ships. I think today there’s only going to be two or three of them. I don’t think the people have come up yet, though. too early. That’s why it’s still pretty empty and quiet around here. This will be packed later on. So, that’s the island that we’re going to. Can see a lot better from here. So, the last time that we came, we ate at this place up there. Got some amazing views. Can see the other island clearly now, too. Some people live on that one. Never been there. Dasia, I think it’s called. [Music] [Music] Don’t cover all of [Music] What’s this? [Music] So, for the boat tour, we had to come to the old port. We’ve never been down here before. We got the cable car. You can see it coming down right now. β¬10 per person, one way. You could walk down. Bit of a mission, though. So, we’re going to head up back that way, too. Another β¬10. We didn’t know that they had the the little boats from here. Yeah, that that would be would have been cool to see all the the mountains and the cliffs from the sea, but we didn’t know. Yeah, we didn’t know. That would have been the easier way to get here if you’re in [Music] [Music] All right, so we’ve arrived on the caldera. Looks super cool here, main island of Santorini in the background. And I think the hike is 1 hour round trip. Look how cool it looks. All the magma hardened. The island that we’re on is actually growing. So the first picture there 197 BC and then it’s constantly growing in size. And you have to pay five extra euros to do the hike per person. I guess there’s some people that don’t do the hike, just stay on the boat. I’m not sure. They did say there’s a guide with a microphone, but I don’t see him right now. Now we’re just following the crowd. I can see people all the way over there. Maybe that’s the way we’re going. [Music] Yeah. So, this big island is the one that we’re on, Na Kamei, which means new Kamei. We just began there. You can see the trail to the top all the way to five. And then this is the one with the hotring that we’re going to Palia Came. Yeah. So, we’ll go there after we do this track. Yeah. So, if you’re doing this hike, I would recommend wearing trainers. We were almost going to do it in flip flops. I mean, it could be done, but it’s like loose volcanic gravel. So, there’s a part in the middle of the island where you can see the gases coming out. I didn’t even know that was going to be a thing here. Yeah, I didn’t know either. But, we recently saw something similar in Japan, which was very cool. But yeah, here is just different cuz we are on an island so it looks different. Yeah, in Japan it was a lot more too. Another incredible volcanic island that we went to in Greece was called Nisos. Barely any tourists go there too, but definitely recommend going there. So that’s the second island that we’re going to be visiting for the hot springs. I was just saying to Carol on our next trip to Santorini, we have to stay on that island. Looks really cool. There’s a settlement on the top. Basically looks like IA or the [Music] [Music] [Music] This is definitely not the hot spring. No naughty heads. I hope it’s going to be warmer there. So, we have to swim to the hot spring part. Yeah, it’s really cold this part. The guide said about 30 m over there is where the hot springs are. I got this floaty thing cuz couldn’t really be bothered trying to swim and holding the camera nice and easy like this. Hey, it’s getting warmer, right? Yeah, man. So, look at the color of the water now. It’s like completely brown. Don’t think I’ve ever been in water this color before. Still not super hot here, though. No, just warmer, but not hot. So, you can tell where the warmer parts are from the bubbles. Oh, look at over here. Loads of bubbles. Oh, it’s really nice and warm. The sand color, too. [Music] Hey. Hey. Hey. [Music] So now we’re back in Fah. We’re just going on a coastal walk. That’s where you get the best views of Santorini. Don’t know how far we’ll go. Just going to head in the direction of IA. I know there’s another town called Emro Vigi. Might walk all the way up to that one. I think it takes about 40 minutes though to get there. The nice restaurants on the way. I remember this church last time we took a photo here. This one looks nice, too. Traditional cafe. basically non-stop amazing restaurants with views in Santorini. So, we’re pretty close to the park that we stayed last time about 15 minutes above FA the center. So, that’s Emo Vigley over there. Another town or village. So, we’ve come to a fancier restaurant this time for my mom’s birthday. Just got the starters. What is that over there? Just some cheese with the bread and nuts and jam on top. Yeah, I don’t think I’ve seen that before. And then we got the feta cheese fried. I really love this. Some pizza bread. And we mainly came for this view of the cow. So I went for the half chicken. β¬2450. Certainly looks very different to any half chicken I’ve ever eaten before with mashed potatoes. Louis Vitos looks good, too. Lamb shank. I got this kebab dish. I don’t remember the price, but it looks really nice. Yeah. All the food here looks nice. Did your mom get like a skewer thing, too? Yeah, the pork slovaki, I think. Sulaki. Sulaki. Yeah, it’s a famous Greek dish. And my mom some amazing looking salad. What did you get that chicken rotto with spices? Nice. [Music] Oh yeah. [Music] So, it’s our third and final day here in Santorini, and today we’re just exploring the center of here. We haven’t really been around this part yet. In the morning, we’re just hanging out at the villa at the pool. So, this is where everybody comes for the sunset. It’s chaos at sunset time. You got a Venetian castle over there from the 15th century, just the base of it. So, we’ll probably head up to the the castle remains first and then I think we’re going to go down there at Moody Bay. It’s a really nice bay. Quite a lot of steps to get down there. Some beautiful views. So, so beautiful. Yeah, that’s why everybody comes here for the sunset. The sun goes down there. It’s like a picture perfect moment. Yeah. I forgot how amazing the views are from the castle. So, we’re just staying down there. Probably about a 10-minute walk. I prefer it over there, though. It’s a a lot quieter. [Music] [Music] The path down to Ammuri Bay still has quite a lot of feces. One thing that has changed though is that I don’t think they have the donkeys anymore. I think it’s actual horses now. People would uh complain a lot about the donkey riding since they’re quite small, right? And they look pretty scrawny. Speaking of the horses, I think that one is a donkey, though. Maybe I’m wrong then. No, no, no, no, no. Chaos on this side of the island. You get all this red volcanic rock now. Kind of different. We did see some red rock on the the island that we visited though in the middle. Nice and quiet here at the bottom. Oh, they got the octopus hanging again, Carol. Yeah, it’s really nice. Those are huge. You see them hanging in a lot of the Greek islands. So, we’re going to head to a swimming spot that we went to last time. So, if you just continue down the coast after the restaurants, there’s this path. They’ve actually fenced it off now. Wasn’t like that last time, but everybody’s walking around it. So, we are too. Even out here, you got the the cats. You see cats everywhere. The water’s looking pretty nice here. So, Santorini is not really known for spectacular beaches, but we did go to one last time called Kamari Beach. It’s like a volcanic one. So, black sand and rocks. People are mainly coming here for the views and to walk through the towns and villages, not really for the beaches anyway. [Music] King [Music] J. [Music] [Music] We’re back at our villa once again. We’re just about to head out to end the night with a sunset up there near the yellow church. Went there the other day and it’s a pretty good place. Quiet, too. Not many people go there. And now we need to save more money for the for 10 years time for the next big milestone. Yeah. The birthdays. So when your mom’s 70 70 or my mom’s 80. Yes. We have to visit a nice place and stay in a nice place again. Hopefully we can do it. Yeah. Hopefully it’ll be as cool as this place. And tomorrow we’re going to be leaving early cuz we’re going to an island above Santorini called EOS that we’ve never been to before. So looking forward to visiting there. We got about 3 full days. So that’s where the next video will be coming up from. [Music] [Music]
