Yes, but you I need a ticket. I haven’t got a ticket. Uh, it’s not normal. You You must have a ticket. I have got a ticket. I assure you I haven’t got a ticket. No, no, no, no, no, After spending the night in a quiet avenue apartment, I head out once more, aim for less near the French border. two other. Wow. A broken down car sits stranded on the roundabout. You can’t park there, sir. Heat. Heat. I have to pull over to the side of the road for something to eat. We got 3 hours and 42, it says. uh with stops or even an hour and a half in that’s 5 and 1/4 hours with stops that’s 210 km to go 3 3 hours 42 avoid motorways they don’t avoid motorways enough down to 3 hours once motorway not pleasant enough driving through the French countryside Tuesday we’re back on Friday evening we got four days of riding so I was watching a film called Zodiac last night about Zodiac killed her in the 60s just went randomly just pulled up in the van went back started getting stuff out the back of the van off here fishing the imagination Heat. Heat. The real two cheese. I be easy riders piece of fun but I can’t help this office. Quick pit stop easy rider is gone. I love you. Heat. Heat. Give me a high five. Going up to my next hotel. It looks pretty grand. Definitely raising my expectations. This is the hotel room. Build a bit like The Shining. Most restaurants are like 5 minutes ride away. Bit of a walk away. Then this is I think good morning Wednesday today. I’m crossing over the border in a bit. Yeah. So I’m over the border to Spain in a bit. This place it reminds me one of those programs on TV. Help. We bought a chat and they bought it with all ideas doing all containers hotel and ran out of money. had perception of like we like breakfast tomorrow and then and then you got to book it now if you want it tomorrow or you got to book it 24 advance notice must be all right so I booked it down for breakfast fresh orange juice a bowl with some sliced bread and some bits of beer some packet and then a tray with three mushy I think they were peaches like mushy to touch and a couple of grapes and that was I said to someone there’s only ham teas and shouldn’t have it. So I had two pieces of bread and butter and a cup of tea for breakfast. That’s not breakfast. That doesn’t constitute breakfast. Really poor. Really really poor. Anyway, on the way over the border now on the border way through that town through it’s just chaos. I’ll be happy with the chaos of that town. Food on the top and I’ll come off the top and then go on the motorway up there. So I’m going to pack up and go cuz it’s going to be hot today. 58° and I’ll say it again while the record before hitting the border. I hop onto the hole for the 25 km run. I pull up, but the machine doesn’t recognize my bike and refuses to spit out a ticket. I try rolling back and forth, but it doesn’t help a bit. That’s a lolly driver behind for the hand. He rolls forward which in turns activates the barrier. I do. I do. I don’t have an entry ticket. Sorry, I don’t have an entry ticket. You don’t have tickets? No, you didn’t give me a ticket at the last place. Why? I didn’t receive a ticket. I I don’t hear you clearly. I didn’t receive a ticket when I when I entered. I just want to play. Yes, but you I need a ticket. I haven’t got a ticket. It’s not normal. You You must have a ticket. I have got a ticket. I assure you I haven’t got a ticket. Thank you. How much was that? How much? No. No. No. No. No. across the border. There’s a motorway, motorway, motorway. Endless tarmac ahead. 31. Okay. Don’t let room for the day. Now, do you With all these miles being lost, it’s time for Heat. Heat. As the temperature climbs, more pit stops are required. It’s from my heart. It wasn’t easy from the start. Take a look around everybody all around town. Music takes control that’s good for your soul. I arrive at my hotel, but it looks closed. I let myself in, get the room sorted. Apparently, I have to check out for 3 hours. Nice room as well. Uh from one to well two to five pretty much Hello. That was a long ride.
On Days 11 & 12 of my journey, I leave Avignon and ride deeper into France, stopping in Le Soler for the night. The next day, things get tricky — I hit the border and get ripped off at the tolls because I don’t have a ticket! Despite the setbacks, I push on into Spain and arrive in Santa Barbara, taking in stunning scenery, challenging roads, and unforgettable moments along the way.
