$1 Street Food Walk in Da Nang’s Local Neighborhood

Oh, he’s a mad chef. There’s a street near An Thuong
that most tourists never find. Châu Thị Vĩnh Tế doesn’t announce itself. It
just exists, doing what streets do when they’re not trying to impress anyone. Motorbikes
move through it like blood through veins. Vietnamese restaurants open their doors
to the sidewalk and food carts release steam that carries the smell of everything
being cooked right now. You see the actual texture of daily life. Dishes being washed on the
sidewalk, scooters being fixed, hands working, and people moving through their routines without
self-consciousness. This is what happens in the spaces between the places tourists go. This
is Da Nang when it thinks no one is looking. All right. So, yeah, I am at the street Châu Thị
Vĩnh Tế. And it just looks like a really cool street. It’s at the end of An Thuong, like where
all the Anton one, two, all the way down are. So, if you go straight down, you’re going to get to
the street. It just has a lot of restaurants, like local restaurants that I saw when we were
coming down here. Just different things like that. Just has a really good vibe to it. So, I thought
I’d do a walk down here, show you guys what it’s like. It’s a place you can come down, get a lot of
local uh food for a good price. Like right here, you got Mi Quang for 30,000 dong right there.
Uh Bun Mam 30,000. So, a bunch of different uh dishes as well. So, very local over here.
And again, very close to An Thuong. So, if you are staying in the area or coming to Dong
and you’re going to be hanging out in this area, come check out the local part. So, yeah,
we’re going to go for a walk down here, see what we find. I haven’t walked down here yet,
just been down in a grab just to get to different places. And uh yeah, again, it looked really cool.
So, yeah, it’s uh going to be a little harder to walk. It’s uh there’s no sidewalks really.
There is, but they’re covered in motorbikes and signs and stuff. Very traditional Vietnam.
But yeah, check it out. So this is really cool. So you can see there’s a lot of these little like
restaurants are very popular full of locals and again very good pricing down here like dishes for
25 to 35,000 dong. You got a barber shop here. I should be walking on the other side so I can
see the traffic. I’m going to switch over here. Yeah, you can see a lot of these
are just people’s homes and then they just have the little stand set
up with food. We got a pharmacy here. We got some uh yo chan ga yo. So again, you go down these streets and
right where I started, like if you went straight down there, it gets you to like where
Scallywags is and stuff like that. Corner pub and you go down these streets as well to get
into the Anton streets. You got place here that does fruit juice, fresh fruit juice.
So, I’m actually walking north right now. Not sure how long it’ll take me. I haven’t actually looked to see yet.
Let me have a have a look. That says about 24 minutes. So, probably take me
18. We’ll see. Look at all these little places here. These are like the little spots where you
they drink beer and they have like smaller dishes. And again, this here, if you went straight down, you can actually see the beach at the very end.
I can. Uh, so if you went straight down here, this is the main road to Anton.
It runs from here to the beach. Yeah, just looked like a lot of uh food options
down here. So, just wanted to explore and check it out. Coffee shops, of course. Um, is that a coffee
shop? It looks like it’s uh How’s Korean food? So, you got a Korean restaurant. There
are coffee shops around here, too. Some dumplings. My dumpling king. They got
the traditional dumplings like he owes. Maybe it’s school or something down
there. There’s a lot of people. Of course, there’s markets, too.
little markets like uh Faithful Mart, a pet store down here. Here’s a artisan restaurant, Italian
cuisine, bakery as well. So, not just local. There are some western style
stuff, restaurants, bakeries mixed in. We love you. It’s all you. So, it’s actually been nice the last week
since the last typhoon went through and hit Quy Nhon. We got some wind and rain
from that. But it’s now uh November 12th. Yeah. And we’ve had some beautiful
sunny days for the last at least 5 days. But even here they just little people set up
with little tables. Not little people, little businesses set up with little tables selling
certain things. A Japanese bistro across the road. Yeah. Yeah. They’re having
a good time having coffee and tea. Come on. They got all shy when I ran up. So, here’s a bit of a main
intersection. We got to watch out here. Again, just walk and keep
walking. You’ll be okay. Again, this road will go straight
down to the beach as well. Quite busy down here. So, yeah, like kind of a almost
like bubble tea or something here. Nice Mercedes SUV. You’ll see these
everywhere, too. They’re like little photo spots you can go and with your
friends and kind of like photo booths. Some of them are photo booths. Some of
them are just like little rooms you can go shoot photos in with your phone or camera.
Yeah, this is uh very local over here. So, normally right here there’s a guy that fixes
shoes and stuff set up, but he’s not here. Yeah. Another another little local spot here. All on that side as well. They got some sausages. They put them on like some hot rocks to keep
them warm. They’re doing uh like a mix stuff. So different plates of like food. It’s like
com ngon tu chon. So just a mix of stuff with rice and then yeah, you got some sausages and
stuff out. You’ll see that everywhere, too. again. Over there you got a place with
some fresh fruit. Uh I don’t know if they’re doing juice. It looks like just fruit.
Although they’re doing sugarcane and stuff, too. So it looks like they do you
buy this fruit or get it as a juice. They got of course like little carts
like this. Other little restaurants. This is a hardware store. So you’ll see these
everywhere. They’re just these little shops and they’ve got just little bits like uh plumbing
pieces and paint and all that stuff. So yeah, just a mix of everything like
kind of a small hardware store. Got more stuff coming in here. They’re
renovating it. This is a dental clinic and they do teeth cleaning. I think we’re or not
teeth cleaning, teeth whitening. I think we’re going to do that actually. It’s like I want to
say around 1.5 million or so to get it done. So, we’ll do it just to see. You guys will you
guys will see. We have a nice bright smile. All the all the coffee and wine over the years.
Yeah. Again, these are like all just little shops and they’re just packed with people. Like this
is where the locals come to eat. You can see by the scooters how many people are eating here.
It just gets more and more condensed. Again, all the coffee shops on this side.
There’s little side streets down there. So, this place we’re actually going to come to
sometime. It’s called Grandma Vuongs. And Vu, you recommended it to us. This is one of Vu’s favorite
places. He knows the grandma that owns it. So yeah, we want to check that out.
Maybe it’ll be in a video one day. Yeah, it’s kind of crazy how
busy the street is with scooters. But again, you’re going to be getting
inexpensive meals this place here. So, they got a bo ne for 30,000. They got uh yeah, a bunch of different stuff. Banh Mi Chao. There’s
like fried rice and stuff. Chicken rice. So, that looks like a good spot here. See,
you can see everything’s just laid out. Looks like a popular spot. So, I
will uh I’m going to mark that. Yeah, there I just marked it again. We’ll
probably come down here and do like a food video, hit a few different places, and
just show you guys what it’s like. This looks like a bit of a market over here. have a quick look or someone’s house. No, it’s
not. But not a market either. Just set up. Quite the characters here as you guys saw
in the opening with them on the stirring the food and doing the dishes. We got a
a pet grooming place and pet shop here. like motorbike rentals, maybe some shopping,
clothing shopping. Billiards. Again, you’re going to find billiards all over
Vietnam. They love playing pool here. We got a Mixue right here. I think
there’s one at the end of the street, too. It looks like. Yeah. So, those
you’ll find everywhere in Southeast Asia, the Mixue. It’s actually the largest franchise
restaurant in the world by number of stores. So, it’s larger than McDonald’s. They don’t make
as much money or do the same amount of volume, but as far as locations, they take the number
one spot. So, yeah, more more coffee shops. Look like you got some karaoke across the
street. Got another little area with couple little carts doing stuff. Xin chao. Everybody
just chilling, eating. Again, a mix of stuff. Yeah, just another coffee shop.
This one looks pretty cool. So, they got the windows all opened up. Yeah, it’s just Yeah, it’s got a nice vibe to
it. Selling some Bo Ne right here on the street. Is it? Oh, yeah. 30,000. So, again, that’s kind
of the going rate for Bo Ne down here. Again, this is one of those places where they’ll
come drink beer and just have like small dishes to share. A lot of those places.
I think we’re at the end. Actually, that went faster than I expected. Yeah, it is
the end. So, again, this will this is the main road that’ll take you down to the beach. And then
this will take you up towards the river up here. All right. So, yeah, that’s it. That’s that
street. Again, driving down there just looked like nice and condensed. A lot of restaurants,
local vibe, really close to Anton. Easy to get to if you are staying in the area or hanging out at
the beach and you want to have some local food. I mean, there’s spots all the way along, but this is
just a condensed area full of different locations and different types of food that you want. So,
yeah, it’s really cool. I’m glad we walked down there. Glad I could show you guys that. Again,
there’s going to be a place we come and try some uh different dishes, do some food videos down
here as well. We are doing our tasting in Vietnam series and a couple of the places might even be
down here. I have them saved. I’d have to look at my maps. But yeah, I like I like the vibe down
here. I like this. This is like very traditional Vietnam. You got the street vendors. Uh yeah, it’s
really cool. I like it. It’s like Bo Ne on the street. You got different noodle dishes and stuff
like that. Fresh fruit and all that stuff. So, um yeah, comment below. Have you guys eaten down
here? Do you have a special spot you like on this street? Comment below. Let us know. We can go
check it out. Uh if you did like the video, please leave a thumbs up. If you haven’t yet, hit
the subscribe button. Hit the little bell icon to get notified when we come out with new videos.
God bless and we’ll see you in the next one. Let the journey make you horizon. This
is what life’s all about. Chase the sunset. Chase the keep on moving. Keep moving on.
