What Can $10 Get in Moldova?

what's up guys I'm jinsky and in this video I'm going to show you what $10 or1 174 movian L can get you on the streets of Kish now let's do it babe where are we mova it's the greatest country in the world wa you want to go to the mall welcome to Moldova Europe's least visited country but don't let that fool you tucked between Romania and Ukraine mdova offers some of the best kept secrets in Europe mova independ it gained independence from the Soviet Union in 1991 and while pretty small it has a rich history and unique culture influenced by both Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union which is present day Russia it really feels like I've stepped back into the Soviet Union Moldova is also home to the Breakaway region of transnistria a self- declared Republic with its own currency and government but lacks International recognition the coolest part about the money in transnistria are the coins these are literally made of plastic look I came here with my wife Deana and we are so excited to explore this off the beaten path destination last time I was in mdova was a month before we met this is awesome just in the middle of nowhere now we're married yeah it's actually quite nice this time of the year because the trees are changing colors and it's amazing really this Cathedral is what I remember here it's really nice you have a beautiful church right in the middle of the park here there's not a whole lot going on in this city I mean it's beautiful it's Charming especially around this park but it's not like there's a whole lot of excitement compared to other cities in Europe but I kind of like it that way I kind of like that it's not so flashy even though it's kind of a boring City there's still like Street vendors selling all kinds of things on the side of the road like flowers I want to buy the passers why not how much 50 it's okay it's okay thank youa we just got a pass parcade from these Grandma it's actually kind of cool it looks like the old Soviet passport can I see it yeah like most cities in Europe there are cafes everywhere and the coffee quality is good so we're going to sit down have a cup of coffee davidan two [Music] cappuccinos two cappuccinos one for me one for my beautiful wife get out my beautiful wife try [Music] it the quality of the coffee here is so good and this is called a plinta which is like a movan specialty every single babush grandmother makes it it's like flaky bread like a croissant with cheese inside oh yeah then basically just break it off like that and you eat it m it's flaky crispy Hott cheesy honestly like if you're hungry and you need food fast it's one of the best snacks it's not healthy but it's good and paired with the coffee and you got yourself a nice snack in mdova I wish the Coffee Culture in the US was like is in Europe everyone just sits outside they hang out in the US it's like grab and go like drive through Starbucks get your coffee and leave it's not a social thing but here it's social everybody's socializing it's super safe here and people think mdova is dangerous cuz it's next to Ukraine it's near Russia it's not dangerous at all yeah it's totally chill I love it here we're on the hunt for another thing to buy but there's not many things to buy except for these ladies selling stuff on the streets I love the culture of these grandmas selling fresh fruit because it's in season right now she's got plums grapes apples and peaches that we're going to buy from her kilil okay 1 kilo how much 40 40 you can keep it no no no it's okay it's okay by in Arizona this would be like $12 trying the grapes M oh my God the richness in the fruits here they say that there's black soil here in mdova and this part of Eastern Europe including Romania and Ukraine which means it's really rich for growing fruits and right now it's perfect season delicioso don't have water to wash it so I'm using my shirt James and the Giant Peach no words It's So Fresh So Rich juicy 10 out of 10 in total I got a passport case two coffees one placenta and some fruit for $929 but this trip is not over yet now we are heading to that Breakaway country at I told you about called transnistria let's see what $10 can get me in a nation that literally doesn't exist okay so we're going to an old Soviet buffet and it's just as it was in the Soviet Union grandmothers make all the food they put it out in buffet style and you just take what you want and it's very cheap and healthy perfect cool man are you hungry [Music] yes this entire Cafe is filled with like relics and touches of History like this radio or this sewing machine met tours here they're from lvia you guys enjoying yeah we are enjoying this because this is actually part of our past but we are really happy that it's behind us that's a really good point how do you feel the same the same way it's like gives you a weird feeling like when your parents grew up they were going to places like this because we saw it all all in school and everything yeah we liveed this but now we are happy that we are out of this going through the buffet here which feels like Russian Grandma serving me food chicken yeah this one [Music] that yes I got the it's $3 a meal including the water now this is a meal we got Forge soup sour cream chicken cabbage eggplants M and all this for $3 we are in the Town Center here of teraso the biggest city in transnistria the capital city and home of half the population about 150,000 people live here we got statues we got transnistria flag Russia flag over here we have South otia and abazia which recognize transist it's like a federation just the countries that recognize transia which are other former Soviet countries which are similar to this that are unrecognized yes that are unrecognized are there behind us is a massive statue head of Lenin it's one of the biggest ones in the whole region after the fall of the Soviet Union a lot of the places tore down all the Lenin heads but all of ours are intact it's just the infrastructure is just like in the Soviet Union for people that don't know Lenin was the Founding Father of the Soviet Union correct leader of the bull Revolution leader of the bull Revolution so you can find his face all over transnistria and in some former Soviet countes you can still find relics of lenon this is uh an old Bulgarian Village that's in trans anista this is a World War II Memorial and what you'll find interesting about all the villages here is this is the front lines of the kitchen elash offensive and all these names are people who died in World War II from this Village not from the whole War interesting statue cuz he's holding a pepar machine gun which is the machine gun that was uh held up over the re tag in Germany at the end of world war ipro [Music] here you go thank you fresh little espresso it's actually really good that is some damn good coffee these churches here are amazing this is actually the largest Monastery in all of mdova considering that internationally we are considered to be in mdova right now it's so cool and reassuring to just know that life is normal here and beautiful and we see things like this I'm digging it so far yeah it's way more normal than I was expecting I for for better for lack of a better word it's just like a normal place it's so peaceful yeah that's one of the first things people say is how peaceful it is and for example I haven't seen a street fight in 16 years or a bar fight in 16 years that's incredible you can go to Liverpool and bar fights street fights every night exactly nothing here so this bank here you only have a local card yeah and it's not on the uh Swift Code system so you can't use it anywhere outside of trans anista wow so that's why you need to bring cashier when you come right but if there is an emergency we've had people here who had an emergency ran out of money sure they went to a disco wall night or something sure and uh we can take them to a village directly across the border and there's a bankl there okay so you can figure you always figure we always figure it out you try it's Russian Quest what is it it's a Russian Quest let's try it thank you it's a Russian [Music] drink M you actually like it yeah it's like you can't say it's tea but it's tastes like tea before it becomes tea it's like it's like fermented uh something it's like fermented tea it tastes like beer but not beer yeah it's beer but not beer but not beer fake beer pulled over in a little roadside shop here which looks like a castle and I've heard they have the cheapest vodka in the world here let's see if we can find some yeah know look at the chips here all Russian wow they have uh Snickers and [Music] Twix oh it's freezing cold just got this ice cold bottle of vodka for a dollar3 cheapest in the world we're going to give it a go [Music] woo yeah that's strong that is strong oh that is so strong we found some Boulevard here before it gets dark and it is wildly chill everyone's just hanging out they're going shopping young kids with their friends I came to transnistria not knowing what I would really experience but all I got to say is man this place is cool like I want to come back here and hang out and I'm not just saying that it's a really really nice place like safe clean friendly people if you want to chill for a bit this is a great place to do it we just got all this food for like $5 transnistrian food this is so good is it set up in total I got some lunch one coffee one beer one bottle of vodka one pizza and one dessert for $9.7 this is without a doubt the strangest country in Europe and I'm glad that you were here to witness this story thanks so much for watching and I'll see you next week

  2. It looks like a beautiful country. I hope that the vote today goes for better EU integration rather than voign to go back into the orbit of the Orks.

  4. This is my wife ..this is my best wife!!…oh btw did I mention this is my wife?…..this guy still can't believe that this girl is his wife! 🫩🫩🙄🙄🫩🫩
