Da Lat, VIETNAM – 6 Apartments Tour from $141 to $380 USD
Willie, [singing] I’m going where the [music] buildings are taller, where the street lights. [singing] >> Hi, welcome to Lofty. My name is Simon and I want to introduce you to Dot. This is one of Vietnam’s most unique cities. It’s so different from the tropical heat and scooterfilled bustle most people imagine when they think of Southeast Asia. Many Western expats describe it as Vietnam’s Little Europe. And if you’re considering living abroad and want a cool mountain town with calm energy and natural beauty, the lot is a standout option. And in this video, I showcase six different apartments in the lot. Please comment, please ask questions, and if you’re new to the channel, please like and subscribe. I truly appreciate it. As long [music and singing] >> all right, first on our list today is this little doozy. It’s 37 Jenhung Dao and uh I think you can find it as Panorama Apartments on Google, but I’ll obviously give you the link in the description. The Panorama. There we go. that hole Mitch Bean’s uh apartment. So, I was told to take the elevator to the seventh floor. Looks like we go through here. Decent lobby waiting area. All righty. Going to the seventh floor here. >> Another day in paradise. And I will [singing] return never to stray. [music] [music] Won’t you tell me how? [music] [singing] Oh yeah. Ah called you. Okay. Uh Okay. Wow. Okay. Okay. Okay. Mhm. Wow. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. All righty. On our way to the next apartment. Beautiful day. I think this one’s going to have a good view, too. Mountain town of the lot. This one looks nice. 52 uh bakdang. Look at the view you’d get. All right. So, we do take a walk down here. Okay. I see they have buildings in the front and these are the ones in the back. I think that’s available for rent. That’s the agent right there. Wow. Looks nice. Oh, that view does not suck. Oh, there’s a coffee shop right here, too. That’s where I came walking down from. Washers right here. Wow. 6 and 12 mil. That includes electricity and water. So, [clears throat] let’s go up to the bedroom. So, that’s your living room area here. And upstairs is your bedroom. Ceiling’s a little low, but it’s actually probably it’s about 6 feet 3 in give or take right here. And then up here you’re a good uh 6 ft maybe 10 or so. Oh yeah, this will work for the upstairs area. Oh, this is nice. 6 and 12 mil includes all your water and electricity, Wi-Fi, everything all in >> the your shower here. So ah okay. Hi dude. Taking a walk outside is nice. >> So, I’m chilling in the lot. I’m having a great time here. I just noticed the uh type of people that live in in uh mountain towns. They just seem to be hardier. They just uh seem to be made of stronger stuff than perhaps city people. So this would be the case anywhere, right? Whether you’re in a developed country like the US or developing country, you seem to be able to withstand hardships a little more. It’s colder. um probably has more rain. Often times rain is more difficult to traverse the hilltops and what have you. So it’s pretty cool to to be to be here. >> So this is my 35,000 bowl of sticky rice with uh lapsum. There is uh some uh sausage here. There’s also a sausage here. Different types of sausages and rrook which is kind of like a pork floss. There’s egg. Super tasty with sticky rice. So I get that cucumbers and I also have a black coffee for 15k. There are some steep areas for sure driving up here, riding up here. Serene stay apartments. And that is the address right there. 86 inside Serene Stay. Okay. Okay. Oh, wow. There’s extra bed here. It’s more room than that than I need. So, there’s a bunk bed here. Pretty good storage. Let’s take a look at the bunk. Cut my DM, huh? >> Okay. It’s the main bed. You get this nice balcony area. Looks like some green houses below. No air conditioning, but the lot is so cool. jump that Wow. >> Wi-i Okay. 60,000 an hour to clean the apartment. So, we come down through here. Wow. And you park here. Look at all those green houses. Got plenty of parking spot, plenty of room. Okay, I am at the next one. This one was pretty hard to find actually coming through uh a couple of alleys. So, I’ll put the address in here, but the uh Google map will not be correct. It’ll be close, but uh but not exactly. See? Got to take the elevator to the fifth floor is what I was told. Here we go. This is it. This is nice shower. You have your separate bedroom. Little fan. Nice size bed. Let’s see if this bed is comfortable. Oh, yeah. It’s nice. It’s a little bit on the firm side, but not not bad firm. Feels pretty pretty nice, actually. Okay. It’s more storage. Okay. Nice washing machine here. That’s nice. Oh, so there is another bed in the living room. Two burners. All right, let’s see here. That’s nice and soft. Well, it’s firm, but it’s a nice firm. That’s missing a glass top. I’m sure that’s getting replaced. Couch is good. And let’s find out how much. All right. So, the cost is 7 million. 7 million a month and they are requiring at least a sixmon lease. Does have a nice size balcony. This is the spot right here. There’s a coffee shop nearby. Some restaurants over here as well. It’s pretty good. And that’s the manager actually. Okay. Ah. studio. Ah, okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. So, it’s a nice rainy day in the lot. But check out this coffee cup, right? This is really nice. They heat up the coffee here. Drip coffee. Kind of nice. Oh, so it’s down this way. The place I supposed to go to. This is it right here. Oh, it looks nice. Oh, so this is the address right here. Ner house. No. Oh. Hey, how’s it going? >> Hey, how are you? >> Thanks. >> Thanks for allowing me to take a look. >> Sure. >> Wow. You guys like it? >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We’ve been here for the last uh >> three months. >> Three months. Okay. >> It’s great. So, uh, what’s your favorite about living here? Favorite thing? >> Uh, it’s twice. And there’s the the balcony. >> Yeah, the balcony is nice. The balcony is very nice. I can see the value here. This one’s 9 million. >> And it’s not far from town either. The center of town. No, it’s quite close. We usually we walk there or we have our bicycles. >> Oh, really? From here. >> Have a scooter if we need. >> Yeah, you walk from here. Oh, wow. >> Yeah. >> And it’s only like two and a half kilometers, I think. >> Yeah. If you go if you want to go to the lake, maybe it’s 20 minutes walk from here. >> Oh, that’s nice. >> Yeah, maximum. Yeah, 20 minutes. >> What’s your uh least favorite thing about living here? There’s nothing much just it suits it’s it suited our need for the for the time we spent here. So there’s nothing much to say about it. >> It’s good. And it’s white. >> And it’s quiet, right? >> Oh, good. Good. Um, how’s the bed? Is it comfy? >> Yes. >> The mattress? >> To us, it is >> nice. Oh, wow. I like this. The enclosed shower. That’s the fan going. Nice washing machine. There’s no uh AC. Not that you need it, right? >> There’s no need for AC here. >> Mhm. How’s the hot water? >> Yeah. Yeah. The hot water is okay. There’s a There’s a pump. >> Uh-huh. >> The pump is a little bit noisy. You can hear it now. >> Right. Right. I can hear it. Okay. >> It’s only when there is like hot water being >> being pumped in through it. >> Yeah. But apart from that, Yeah. noise. >> Everything’s okay. >> I like it. Oh, comfy >> internet’s good. [snorts] >> It is. Yeah. >> Oh, >> yeah. Yeah, we’re streaming, so we’re watching uh we’re watching films and everything, so no problem. >> Fantastic. Where you guys from? >> France. >> Well, I just know enough French to get me in trouble, so I won’t start speaking any French. And all of these, is it in here or is it belong to you? >> No, that belongs to the apartments. >> Oh, that’s all the apartments. the glasses, the plates, and everything else. Oh, okay. Looks like it’s one uh one cooktop, which is nice. Okay. Thank you. You got the microwave, fridge, you got the washing machine, then you just air dry your clothes outside. >> Yes. >> Yep. >> Thank you. Thank you so much for allowing me to see it. You’re >> welcome. >> Oh, yeah. That was a good one. 9 million VND. Come on. He’s the uh the manager now. 9 million VND comes with electricity and water. It’s all included in there. So, you use as much as you want and the internet. Parking seem to be really good. Go back to my coffee shop here. But I really like that one. I like that one a lot. So, tell me, which [music] one did you like? Which one was your favorite? And which one would you not even consider? and let me know why you would or wouldn’t want to move into one of these units. 🎯Da Lat, Vietnam is one of my favorite towns to visit. It has this artsy, bohemian, mountain town vibe that reminds me a lot of Asheville, NC. The people are friendly and helpful. And in this video, I walk you through 6 different apartments ranging from $141 to $380 USD. I share some insight about apartment hunting in general and specific to Da Lat. It’s a bit different from some of the other cities in Vietnam.
Some owners will only charge you the government rate for electricity and water, which is good for you. The electricity rates are tiered. For example, it can be one price for maybe the first 50 hours of usage for that month. Then, it progressively gets more expensive. Another difference is that the government can lower the electricity costs for certain people based on their lower income. All that is to say that, the government rate is better than what some apartment managers charge. Your electricity costs will be much lower in Da Lat since most apartments will not have air conditioning. And water is generally less than $4 USD per month. With such low electricity and water costs, many Da Lat apartments just charge one price for rent and utilities included.

Let me know what you think about these apartments. Which one did you prefer? Should I look at some more expensive ones over $400 USD?
Pork floss? Do pigs floss in VN?
Nice apartment video for DaLat. The second apartment would be concerning during rainy season with the steep alley/road walk. Slippery?
Great and unique apartments. DaLat is a city I'd like to visit someday
Great video, all apartments are fantastic value but my favourite is the last apartment with the massive balcony.
Happy Travels.
Just FYI "service apartment" seems to be a fake term Cambodians made up for "serviced apartments"? Is the term really legitimately used by anyone who speaks our language natively?
Wonderful job sharing essential info about a city that NO ONE is covering on the American interwebs.
Hello Simon 🙋♂️,
This town and Da Nang are polar
opposites – I can almost smell 👃
the fresh 💨 🌬️ air coming into
my lungs 🫁 from the environment outside.
Even the traffic looks more
orderly 🛵🚘 and – the pace of life
also looks slower !!
Still prefer Da Nang – though,
however – you get cheaper
accommodation and bigger
apartments in this place. If you
don’t mind being out of the way
it would be excellent place
to live….
Thanks 🙏
James ✌️
I'd choose the last for the balcony of course. I also like the duplex. Hreat prices.
Another great video
Da lat is beautiful city
These are beautiful! You are always showing us the best option , thank you 🎉
I would love to see from $400 to $600 USD range. Helps to put in perspective apartment, views, services and amenities of the lower priced apartments you just reviewed and whatever is a bit more expensive.
The first apt, bathroom is downstairs while the bedroom is upstairs… The last one is more expensive but it is so homey ❤❤ and the balcony!! 😍😍
Great job. Ty
Finally a video for Tây Lông who are not millionaire Da Vegas, Los Chi Mingeles, but real immigrants.
Outstanding channel.
Are any of these apartments available for just a one to two month rental?
Thank you for the great apartment video! How did you go about finding these? Love that balcony!
I like the 3.7mil one, good enough for single guy just want to chill to life.
Thank you for creating this video. It’s difficult finding Da Lat rentals on YouTube. 🫶 Constructive feedback: Please slooow down while showing us the inside of buildings etc. I was getting whip lash. ☺Also, the country music didn’t seem relevant, it was too loud and distracting. The good news: Loved that you showed written details such as the rental prices. It was ultra helpful.💜 Next time please show some apartments/houses in $400-700 range for a 1-2 bedroom. Do they any have heating/air-conditioning/bathtubs? And plenty of hot water.
I love Dalit coffee from Nguyen
That last one was absolutely perfect!
The last one was my favorite. When I was stationed at Cam Ranh Bay in 1969, Da Lat was always spoken highly of. Great video, thanks!
I could live in any of them. Very affordable.
I have a bigger budget myself, but I must say that last one was amazing. A large balcony is a high priority for me. I think I would’ve jumped on that. It was clean had a big TV comfortable very unique looking definitely a winner. That one will not last.
I could do without the music
Nice overview and good to see a variety of apartments near the same price point.
As one of my favorite things to do is to ride a bike in remote areas, it would have been nice to see what the countryside around the area was like if your camera equipment allowed you to record and drive.
I would be very interested to see what the upper end of the market is like…say to $1k.
Hi, thanks for the great content! What platform did you find these apartments on?
I'm thinking of moving out to Vietnam Google won't let me subscribe I'm limited by them to 10 a week
The music sucks! Do it without music. I like your channel.
That last one was a winner!
That hillbilly music is painful but I really appreciate your content!! How bout some Pink floyd 😊
where did you see these advertised ?
I liked the cheapest one. I'd start out with thst one. And then would give me time to look around.
