Exploring the World’s Largest Market! (Chatuchak Weekend Market) | Bangkok, Thailand.
Today we’re going to be exploring the world’s largest weekend market, bringing over 200,000 people every weekend. [music and singing] >> I miss you whenever you’re gone. I want you here [music and singing] beside me for eternity. Shining your light like a sun. I try. >> So yeah, we just got here. First thing we wanted to do is get a coffee and then we’re going to grab some food here in a little bit. >> What is it? >> It’s a strawberry drink. >> A strawberry smoothie. >> Strawberry smoothie. >> Can I have some? >> Yeah. Thank you. >> Take one sip. >> One sip. [laughter] >> That was one sip, puppy. I’m ready for my coffee. >> Just got a hot mocha. >> I’m scared to try it cuz I don’t want to burn my >> It’s not hot. >> It’s not hot. >> Well, it’s like warm. Like, it’s good. It’s perfect. >> You already tasted it? >> Mhm. [music] >> It’s good. It’s really good. Better than the one we had at. >> Yeah. And less expensive. much less expensive. >> So, we’re here at Chatter Check Weekend Market. It is sitting over in over 35 acres of land around and it has over 15,000 stalls. So, I can imagine how big that is. Now, we’re going [music] to be in search for some food and we’ll see what else we can find cuz you can find literally anything in here. So, we’re [music] going to come out of here with at least one item. >> I’m looking for a kidney. Can I get that here? [laughter] >> Probably. [laughter] >> They say that if you don’t find it here, then you will not find it in Thailand. >> M. So, it’s like uh it’s not that hot. It’s like what, like 86° or something? >> Yeah. But I do still [music] would recommend to wear either something really light or shorts because I’m already sweating. >> Yeah. Oh, look. [music] Child pants 80. >> So this is like the elephant pants but for kids. That’s cool. >> Cool. >> So this is like a kid section. Maybe like a kids store. >> Go that way or this way? >> Let’s go this way. I think I see a KFC sign. 7-Eleven sign. So >> Okay. >> Maybe there’s some food over there. >> Yeah. [music] Left or right? >> Straight. I smell food. >> Oh, I smell food. Smells [laughter] so good. >> Oh no. What? >> No. >> What? >> We came over here cuz we’re looking for food and I was like, “Let’s go this way cuz I see a 7-Eleven and a KFC sign.” >> And what is it? >> We’re freaking t-shirts, man. [laughter] >> And you’re like, I >> Let’s go back. Let’s go back. >> So, we’re at a little joint and we [music] just ordered some food. We got some fried chicken for Liam. Looks really good. And some fried rice for us, which it smells delicious. We haven’t got it yet, but they’re cooking it right beside behind us, so we get all the smell. So, we ordered some fried rice, but it looks like it’s white rice with beef, but it smells delicious. Anyways, um does it have some vegetables, too? >> It looks like a little bit of either lettuce or cilantro. >> Maybe cilantro cuz it smells really good. M. The beef is like fajita or something. We want to take a moment to thank everyone that helped us reach 1,000 subscribers. We really appreciate it and we couldn’t have done it without you. >> Okay, so we just finished eating and [music] we’re back out here on the main road and it’s pretty packed. Well, nice and windy. Our little breeze coming in, so that’s nice. But >> yes, but keep in mind we are in December. So if you’re depending on when you’re coming, it might be extremely hot. [laughter] >> Yeah. >> But it’s the good thing is that you you’ll find like smoothies, coffee places, like you’ll keep yourself hydrated for sure. So, right right now what we’re doing is we’re walking around um the basically the the main road which goes around the whole market and uh we’re just going to try to see what we can find. What wants >> is a tai tea. >> Oh, yeah. The tai tea. I want to try the tai tea. >> So, she wants to try the tai tea. >> I’ve never tried it. So, yes. We’ve been searching for like an hour. [laughter] >> Still haven’t found anything for us. >> We’re We’re kind of [music] picky, too. [laughter] >> Yeah, we’re picky. >> You’re picky, too. >> Us weird. >> Yes. No, honestly, it’s just like [music] one of those situations where there’s so many things >> you don’t know what to choose. >> You don’t know what to get. So, that’s where we’re at right now. I just got a little fanny pack. >> Uh, wanted a new one because this one over my chest is kind of getting annoying and being right here up here and I’d rather have something around my hip like I I used to do back in the day. So, got a new one. It cost me a h 100red bot, which is about less than $3 really. So, I didn’t even try to negotiate because what am I going to get? 50 cents off. So, I found something for me. I bought a shirt that was 160 bucks. So, mission accomplished. Or at least we got something. So, we just found this little coffee shop and I’m going to try some Thai tea. And Christian got the lemon honey lemon soda. Honey lemon soda. >> Tastes sour. It’s carbonated. You get that lemon. See how it is. >> I think this is actually better than the last time we tried it. >> You don’t get as much honey on this one. Maybe it’s all on the bottom. You got to mix it. >> Maybe. So, the market closes at 6, but it looks like they’re setting up a bunch of stalls here in the middle of the road. And it looks like it’s a night food market that they’re setting up. So, I didn’t know that, but that’s pretty cool. >> And yeah, a lot of the shops are already closing. >> Yeah. And what did you get? >> Oh, and I found myself a little kimono. >> You want to show it? >> Yeah. been wanting to get one for a while and it cost well the price was 280 and we did bargain and we got it down to 250. >> Thank you, baby. >> You’re welcome. >> I got two things today. Woohoo. >> Yeah, it only took us 8 hours. >> No. >> Yes, that is so true. That’s what he said. >> Almost is really going to hit that mark. But right now, we’re going to go get one more thing to eat before we call it a night. And uh we’ll see what we can find. So, this is a little uh basically like a little art section where you can come and paint. They’ll give you all the supplies you need. You can get uh they’ll give you all the paints, the brushes, everything. And then they’ll they put up these canvases and anybody can come here and paint. It’s free, but the only thing you have to do is join the Instagram. So, if you’re watching, go ahead and support and scan that QR and follow their Instagram. Anyways, So, right next door to the market is this mall. You know, they have all these food stalls and they have a bunch of food. >> We just got a Mexican street corn and we got the ghost pepper spice. So, we’ll see how it goes. They say that for Thai people that the ghost pepper one is nothing. So, we have to prove a move that we can do spice, too. It’s a corn on the cob and they grill it and then they put I think they put mayo [music] and then cheese, right? The cheese and then the spicy the powder, right? It was a powder. >> Yeah. >> And we got this one because we’re Mexicans >> and this is what we eat back home. And I missed this. [music] >> Let me put the lion on. [music] It’s good. [music] The mayo mayo is not the same as we have back home, but it hits this spot. >> I’m going to finish it, baby. Sorry. [laughter] M. [music] >> The spicy is good. >> It’s pretty good. You can definitely taste the spice. [music] The mayo that they use here is like a little bit of sweet mayo. [music] Um, and I’ve noticed that since like Vietnam, here in Thailand, the mayo’s generally like sweet. So, you definitely get that sweetness, which I prefer that it was just [music] like spicy and salty, but it is really good. And it definitely takes us back to [music] a good oldfashioned latte from our hometown. [music] You happy? Yeah. >> I’m so happy to get a little taste of home. Thanks for watching. [laughter] Thanks for watching. [music] And if you like that video, be sure to watch this one. And don’t forget to subscribe.
