Monaco at Christmas 🎄✨ | Europe’s Most Extra Festive Destination?
Tonight we’re off to the Monaco Christmas market and looking at all the lights and also going on top of the rock. We’re doing food tests and going on the big wheel. So come along with us. So this is Monaco at Christmas. Yes, that Monaco. super yachts, supercars, and prices that make your eyes water. But once a year, it also turns into a full-blown festive playground, complete with a Christmas market, a giant wheel overlooking the Mediterranean, and decorations that feel very on brand for one of the most glamorous places in the world. Today we’re doing a full Christmas wander, taste testing the food, going on the big wheel, exploring everything the market has to offer, and heading up to the Rock and Casino Square to see how Monaco does festive sparkle. Before we dive in to mold, wine and churros, let’s talk Monaco. Monaco is the second smallest country in the world after Vatican City. It’s just over two square kilometers, but somehow manages to pack a royal palace, a Formula 1 racetrack, a world famous casino, and some of the most expensive real estate on the planet. It’s also technically a city, a country, and a playground for the rich and famous, all rolled in to one. At Christmas, Monaco leans fully into festive luxury. The main Christmas market pops up down in Port Hercule right by the harbor with chalet style stalls, fairground rides, and a huge ferris wheel that gives views across the yachts and out to sea. What makes this one feel different to a lot of European Christmas markets is the setting, palm trees, the Mediterranean, and Christmas lights all at once. It’s festive, but make it Monaco. Right, let’s head to the market. The Monaco Christmas Market runs along Port Hercule this year from the 5th of December till the 4th of Jan, but this changes every year. Every stall is a wooden chalet style, loads of lights, music playing, and there’s that mix of Christmas smells everywhere from cinnamon sugar, grilled meat, waffles, and something vaguely boozy. It’s a very familyfriendly market, too. There are fairground rides, games, little kids areas. There’s something for everyone. But first, food. Always food first. So, we’re now going to try some Georgian food. We had this last year and it was so so good. It’s like a cheesy garicky pizza bread and it’s like €4 a slice. So, we’re going to order some now. So, we picked up one of these pear lemonades and we’ve gone for two slices because last time we shared it and it wasn’t enough. So, I’m going to open this and give it a go. >> Smells really good. Really refreshing. Non-alcoholic. This really nice pear flavor. Now, let’s get into the good stuff. This is like full of cheese and butter. It’s as good as I remember last year. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. They got this insane looking suckling pig. I’m going to give it a go. I’m showing you stuff that you shouldn’t see. I’m giving you >> That’s insane. It’s so tender. >> So like flavorful >> and the chips are really hot and fresh. >> This was expensive, but I think it was probably worth it. >> So this court was absolutely life-changing. It was so so good. As you can see, we’ve absolutely devoured it. Um, I’d say one portion is probably big enough for two. Um, and now we’re going to try a few more things, but this is definitely a must. I’m trying the cheese fondue between songs. Oh my god, it’s going to be hot. Oh my god, this tastes just like the one we had in Switzerland. Woo! Woo! Heat. Heat. So, we have this >> barrel cake. What’s it called? >> Hungarian bri. >> Hungarian bri with cinnamon and Nutella. >> And it’s really hot. We’re going to try some now. Has like the Nutella inside. M. That’s really, really good. It was quite expensive. 10 years a cash. >> Beyond the food, there’s loads of gift stores. Think decorations, candles, toys, handmade bits. There’s even a stall that sells loads of dog treats and goodies and very festive things you definitely don’t need, but will convince yourself you do. What I really like is how lively it feels. There’s music everywhere. people actually hanging around instead of just walking through. And the whole place feels like it’s designed to be enjoyed slowly. But bear this in mind, it gets crazy busy on the weekends. We film this during the week. So, we’re on the ferris wheel. It’s €7 each, and it’s just my favorite thing to do cuz you get such an amazing view. And I feel like it’s really reasonably priced. You get to go around a good few times. And yeah, it’s just something you have to do at the Monaco Christmas Market. Told you they were good views. Now we’re leaving the buzz of the market and heading up to Monacoville, also known as The Rock. This is the oldest part of Monaco where the Prince’s Palace is, and it feels completely different to the harbor. At Christmas, it’s quieter, more traditional, and very storybook. This is a side of Monaco people don’t always picture. Narrow streets, little squares, locals walking around, and Christmas decorations that feel understated, but really charming. Casino Square already feels over the top on a normal day. So at Christmas it goes full throttle. This is Christmas on steroids. Bigger, brighter, and unapologetically extra. The decorations don’t do subtle. Massive trees, layers of lights, gold everywhere, and the palm trees wrapped like they’ve been personally styled for the occasion. It’s festive excess Monaco style. The Casino De Monte Carlo sits right in the middle of it all. Glowing, dramatic, and completely owning the moment. Built in the 1800s, it’s always a showstopper. But with the Christmas lights, it feels like the main character. And of course, there are cars. Supercars rolling in under fairy lights like it’s totally normal. People stop, watch, take photos, and then carry on like this isn’t one of the most ridiculous backdrops for a Christmas tree. It’s loud, it’s lavish, and it knows exactly what it’s doing. There’s no pretending this is a cozy village Christmas. This is glamour turned all the way up. And honestly, it kind of works. If anywhere was going to do Christmas like this, it was always going to be Monaco. So, we have just got back from the market. Sorry, there’s a lot of voice over. They were literally blasting Michael B play at every opportunity and there was lots of music going on. Um, but yeah, I hope you enjoyed a little tour of what I think is my favorite Christmas market probably in the world. I’ve been to loads of Christmas markets in the UK and also in Belgium, um, Germany and, um, Poland. And there’s just something about the Monaco market that I really like. Although it’s small, I feel like it really packs a punch. It’s actually really affordable. Um, the rides are good prices, the stalls are really good quality, and the food is I I think unbeatable. Um, if you can do a little long weekend in Nice and get the train to Monaco, um, I feel like you could spend the whole day here looking at the Christmas lights, going to the market, checking out um, casino square and things like that, and then spend the other day in Nice, and you’d have a lovely um, surprising Christmas weekend cuz Nice is also great for shopping and things like that. Um, so yeah, I do think it’s my favorite Christmas market, um, for all the reasons that you saw tonight. Um, but yeah, I absolutely love it. And let me know if you’ve ever visited or plan on visiting. Um, and if you do have any questions below, um, do leave them down there. Um, I think the market opens from like the first week of December and ends the first week of January. Um, but yeah, I hope you enjoyed this video. Don’t forget to give it a thumbs up. Uh, leave a comment down below what your favorite Christmas market is. Don’t forget to hype this video up if you really enjoyed it. And of course, I’ll see you all very, very soon. Bye.

Oh Becky…. Now THIS is what I want from a Christmas market! From start to finish. Absolutely stunning. I went to Bath Christmas market this year and it was so so so so bad. I wanted something cheesy, no cheese stalls. Found a pasta stall doing the thing where the pasta gets put into a big wheel of cheese and it gets twirled around and the cheese melts onto it. There’s a name I’m sure but I don’t know it. This one ….. cost £16. The cheese wasn’t even melted. He was scrapping away at it which made the cheese kind of grate and stick to the pasta. No other food stalls apart from the standard ones. It was so packed you were just shuffling along in a big worm not being able to look at anything. Truly awful. This video gave me SERIOUS envy. It’s top of my list now, that’s for sure. Thanks for this video ❤
