Now, some of the clips in this video have been uh in another video earlier in the year titled Hamburg. Um this was part of the Germany Poland trip I done when I visited Pinamunda, the Wolf’s Lair, SS Castle, Hamburg. Um, but I’ve just been thinking that Miniature Wonderland had so many clips for it. Miniature Wonderland needed its own video. It’s such an amazing place. Like even if you’re not into uh model railways or modeling, it just it’s amazing place to visit. And if you’re in uh Hamburg, it’s well worth uh the trip. So that’s what we’ll be looking at. And just on a another note, um I’d like to thank Mogi uh for buying me some coffees on buy me a coffee. Now, you may have seen that in the last I think my last two videos or last video that um I’ve now got a buy me a coffee page where you can support the channel just by buy me a coffee. Um but I’m also the reason I set it up is I’m going to use their shop feature. I’ve got some uh mugs, Daniel Oakley and Topaf Traveler mugs and some t-shirts as well. Uh different styles of t-shirts. Um, but yeah, I haven’t actually set that up yet, but it will be up and running soon. Um, so you can get some merch as they say. So yeah, so sit back and let’s have a look at Miniature Wonderland in Hamburg. Okay, we’re in the Dockland area of uh Hamburg. I am going to go Miniature Wonderland while I’m here. I might as well. It’s only going to be a short trip around there, so be quick. But yeah, I’ll get some footage and uh and show you. Everything’s all right with a [music] sky on my skin. Baby, I feel high with a sky on my skin. [music] Let me >> infatuated the flowers at your door. [music] Heart is inflated. Just tell me what you want to do. [music] Everything’s all right. >> Miniature Wonderland is according to Guinness World Records, the world’s largest model railway. It is located in the historic warehouse district in Hamburg and is operated by miniature wonderland Hamburg. It is one of Germany’s most popular and frequently visited tourist attractions. [music] got away. Oh, got away. >> The first team of model builders and the first models were acquired through a 2-day workshop. More skilled crafts people than traditional model builders [music] were selected. Construction began in December 2000. On August 16th, 2001, the first three sections, Nuffingan, Central Germany, and Austria went into operation. Since then, new areas have been added. With the completion of the Hamburg, German coast section in November 2002, miniature Wonderland became the largest model railway in Europe. The Bro was built in the summer of 2002. Further expansions included the USA section December 2003 and the Scandinavia section July 2005. On September 10th, 2015, the Switzerland section and the New Italy section were connected. This increased the track length from 13,000 to 15,400 m. This was recorded by a Guinness [music] World Records adjudicator who subsequently presented the certificate for the newly established world [music] record. The Rio de Janeiro, including the world from above, Patagonia, and Monaco and province sections, added another 1100 m. The track length of almost 16,500 m [music] corresponds to 1,400 km in original size, making it the largest model railway in the world across all scales. By 2024, the construction cost had reached approximately 45 million. [music] [music] Among its special features is a simulated dayight cycle in which dawn, night, sunrise, and day repeat every 15 minutes. This includes an automatic lighting control system that switches approximately 500,000 LED lights according to the time of day. The 120 m fantasy city of Nuffingan with approximately 6,000 inhabitants [music] is equipped with over 100 autonomously driving model cars, including numerous fire engines which simulate a fire call every 15 minutes. Traffic simulation is provided by a modified car system which was also installed in the America, Scandinavia and nothing airport sections. In the America section, an interstate highway is equipped with a dynamic traffic management system that regulates traffic through [music] four different speed limits, continuous traffic lights, and a variable text display. The layout is considered highly detailed. Examples include a changing scoreboard [music] in the Volksw Stadium, a magnetically controlled cow in a cow patty bingo game, a wreck cheese [music] wheel truck, and miniature flashing lights in the Hamburg section. There is also a jet gas station [music] that displays the real-time gasoline prices of its counterparts on Amsync Strasa in Hamburg. At the Volkswag Stadium, HSV [music] and FC St. Paul Pley play against each other on each simulated day. All matches N43 in favor of HSV. Visitors can control various processes at the attraction using around 200 buttons. These so-called push button actions are a highlight for many visitors. For example, a mine train starts, wind turbines turn, the next goal is scored in the Volkswag Stadium, the Trans Rapid leaves [music] the station, a space shuttle launches, a helicopter takes off, or Pinocchio’s nose begins to grow. One button allows visitors [music] to observe the simulated production of a small chocolate bar in a factory and receive a piece of real lint chocolate. At children’s eye level, there are small caves with illuminated diaramas. Heat. [music] [music] Heat. [music] Heat. [music] Heat. [music] >> [music] [music] >> I got something. After 6 years of planning and construction, the [music] model airport Nothing Airport was opened on May 4th, 2011. Its buildings resemble [music] Hamburg airport. Just like in the fictional town of Nothing, there is also a simulated fire department with a large fleet of vehicles, including four airfield fire trucks. On the 14 m long runway, model [music] airplanes are accelerated realistically to scale on an invisible launching sled. Using two guide rods, they seemingly lift off the ground and disappear [music] into a cloud wall. The guide rods allow for adjustments to the aircraft’s angle [music] of attack, closely approximating realworld flight characteristics depending on the launch phase. Various commercial aircraft are on display, including the Boeing 747 and Airbus A380 in the liveries of current and former airlines from around the world. Models of the Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner take off and land in Nuffing, as do classics like the Super Constellation. There is a Concord in British Airways livery, a space shuttle, a B and the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars, including the thumb planes. The fleet comprises 42 actively flying aircraft. The movement of aircraft on the ground is managed using a technology similar to a car system. The vehicles within the airport tell their own little stories with coordinated refueling, loading, and unloading operations at the aircraft parking positions. The airport has an underground airport train station where suburban and long-distance trains stop the platforms. According to the operators, 150,000 working hours went into the 150 m. Besides the model airplanes, the area also features hundreds of cars, passenger boarding bridges, a parking garage, an airport hotel, a subway, and individual figures. [music] Heat. Heat. [music] [music] >> [music] >> Heat. [music] Heat. >> [music] [music] [music] >> There we go. >> [music] [singing] [music] [singing] [music] >> Oh my god. [music and singing] Get ready. Yeah. [music] [singing] [music] for [singing and music] me. [music] [singing] [music] But I get [music] Heat [music] [music] up here. Heat. Heat. [music] [music] >> [music] [music] [music] >> Thank you. Heat. [music] Heat. [music] Yeah. >> [music]
