European Tour Part 7 – Magical Grau du Roi
Hi guys and welcome to part seven of our European tour. Gosh, the time is passing so quickly. And uh we left you at the end of the last vlog saying that we would take you around the beautiful, beautiful town of um let’s get this right, Growl Jurua. And we found this wonderful air. We showed you a little bit of the air on the last video. This time we take you into the town. We take you first along the beach and then round the harbor which is really the heart of the town and it is gorgeous. And we picked a good day to do it as well. The sun was out. It was absolutely beautiful. And we ended up in a lovely little cafe. Well, actually it wasn’t that little to be honest. a lovely cafe, had some nice food, and then wandered back to the van. But to be honest, this is a real gem. And I am not at all surprised as to how full that air was. When we got there, there were about 14 spaces. And by the time the end of the evening, well, I say the end of the evening, they were still arriving at around about 9:00 at night, but it it wasn’t far off full. And uh I’m not at all surprised because it was super. So, take a look at this place because it ought to be on anybody’s list who was going down the French coast heading towards Spain. It really was super. No, let’s look at the sea first. >> So, there’s a bus stop right outside here. And there’s one the other end as well. And it looks to me here. >> Yeah, >> a really good cycle route. And then this looks to me as though it goes down to the sea. It’s sand under the foot. Oh, yes. Look at that. It does put a smile on your face, doesn’t it? >> You know what I’m going to have to do, don’t you? >> Put your finger in the seat. >> I’ve got to find out how warm it is. Oh, it’s warm. It’s warm, Alan. I could swim in that. Oh, it’s beautiful. >> Well, maybe not, but I got my coat on at the minute. Oh, I’m getting wet. Oh, it’s lovely. That is gorgeous. at the sea. It’s just so warm. I can’t believe it. Oh. Uh, yeah. I don’t think I will get in though. But the thought’s nice. Anyway, >> what do you think that is over there? >> Well, oh goodness. It It’s the coastline with all sort of holiday apartments. all the way around. >> Yeah, >> we came down that uh little path there. >> Yeah, we are. That tree you see there is by our van. >> Yeah. >> Blime me. What a spot. No wonder there aren’t many spaces available. I can’t believe it. Yeah, it’s beautiful. I’ll walk along the beach in December. You can’t beat it, can you? Can’t beat it at all. Ah, it’s gorgeous. It’s not horrible clingy sand either. Oh, it’s gorgeous. Yeah. Oh, a joy. Wow. It sounded good on the website, but I didn’t quite expect this. >> Good. >> It’s super thoroughly recommended. >> Well, I mean, we’ve used camping car parks before, but they’ve got far more sights now than they used to have, and I have to say the quality of the sites and the facilities has been excellent. So, well impressed. Especially for the price when you think what you pay for a basic campsite in the UK. Oh, this is beautiful. Sun castles. Somebody’s been building sand castles. This is our exercise for the day, love. >> Yeah. >> It’s not like walking on sand, though, is it? It’s really uh >> firm. >> Firm. Yeah, really firm. The blue of the sea is phenomenal. Absolutely wonderful. This is so lovely. Ah, it feels more like May. >> Yeah, it’s a nice temperature. >> It’s lovely. >> You said you don’t really need a a coat. >> No, it’s gorgeous. >> Waves away. They’re just lapping in. >> Ah, have a look at the harbor. >> Yeah, it’s beautiful. >> Oh, some food. >> Oh, that would be good. Looks likely. I think we might have to go down the harbor and across to get there, but La Perry. Ah, it’s been here since 1830. Lrao Dura. That’s the name I couldn’t remember. Uh in 1889, Leia Perry bought the land and uh built a house and he called it Lavil Deun and today it’s called Villa Perry. >> Good. >> Oh, I could have read it in English. No, I read the French and translated it to English, but they got it down in English down below. >> That’s different. Well, look at the picture of the kingisher here, Alan. How beautiful is that? This is what I’ve been waiting to do, Alan. be able to wander around places we’ve never been before and see various things. Goodness me, they got packed boats. There’s boats down both sides here. Look at these buildings. They’re beautiful. And there’s some more art here. I like that. That’s beautiful. These are being got by the sea monster. It is a very pretty little harbor. Belle view Hotel Donglate. And the boats, they’ve all got their own little jetties full of their fishing equipment all the way down here. And the buildings are really pretty as well. The hotel over there looks lovely. Look at some of these buildings here. Very typically French. It’s got such a feel to it, hasn’t it? So, all the bars and restaurants seem to be the other side, don’t they? >> Yeah. >> Um, yeah. Yeah. They don’t look very open, do they? >> No, it’s just Sunday. >> That’s true. I’ve got that. You lose track of time. >> There’s a shop open over there. >> Oh, yeah. That one with a shine. Yeah. Some quite big boats actually as well. >> Yeah. >> I mean that’s quite sizable. >> Yeah. >> Got a good beam on it for the length of the boat. >> It looks that way. Well, it is. Yeah. And there’s like a little square here. I think there’s all Christmas lights around. Alan. >> Yeah. >> Probably look pretty later. They’re down the streets there. Very typically French. Ah, there’s one open here. Look. Probably cuz it’s the only one open. >> It is packed, isn’t it? Absolutely packed. Not only is it packed, but it’s a bit noisy, too. >> Food look good, though. >> The food did look good. Very very noisy. Well, this one’s open as well. Look. And one up there. >> Oh, they are serving food. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Look. And people inside are eating. >> Yeah. And their food serving food as well. >> Yeah. Should we wander across the harbor and then back? We don’t want to go too far. >> It does goes a long way. >> And look back down the harbor as we walk across. Tell you what, it reminds me a bit of um foy but with a French twist. I’m pleased we found this place. Alan, that’s a big teddy bear there. or polar bear I think with his Christmas box. >> Someone’s giving him McDonald’s burgers. >> I have got a shot. You mean of the burgers? Oh yeah. Yeah. McDonald’s or his Christmas present. Yeah, these are all open as well. >> But they’re not in the sun, are they? >> No. >> Yes. >> It’s not I mean, >> obviously it is a bit touristy, but the boats are mainly fishing boats. Yeah. >> Yeah. I mean, you’ve got tourist shops, but uh >> I think you’d probably expect that, wouldn’t you? >> Yeah. Where you pointing it? >> Um, wherever I want to point it down the street and further along. >> Oldfashioned guns. I’m sure they’re all decorative. Yeah. >> And they’ve turned this restaurant into a car park. >> Seems the further you go down, the less uh activity there is. >> Yeah. I don’t think there’s anything down the bottom. >> No. Yeah. Most of these restaurants I guess people have got to make more of an effort to get down here which >> are coming from this side of the town. >> Well, yeah. >> Oh, very funny. Look at that building over there, Alan. How beautiful is that? It’s beautiful. Look how on ornate the top of it is. >> Yes. Quite a mix, isn’t it? Looking out at the entrance of the harbor there with the leading light and the palm trees and the fishing boats. It’s beautiful. What they’ve got here, they’ve got a strange idea about Christmas decorations. We had a polar bear up there. Here we’ve got a teddy bear in a bble. There he is. In the bble. Well, that’s definitely different. I’ll show you from one end to the other. That’s the leading light. And we’ve walked all along there in the afternoon sunshine, which is gorgeous, especially after the all the cold weather we’ve had. And you see the shot all the way up there. You can’t even see the bridge for the boats. Lots of people walking around. That’s lovely. It doesn’t seem to be much in the way of cafes, does there? I don’t know. >> It looks like it opens back up onto the sea. >> Yeah. >> So, I’m hopeful >> travel hopefully. Lots of shops open. They seem to be selling quite a bit of um I was going to say quite a bit of tap, but there’s a quite a mixture to be honest. >> I’m not sure it’s t no >> beach stuff. >> Yeah. And there is quite a mixture. >> Yeah. >> I should have had my mic. >> You’ll have to speak louder. >> I don’t think I’m up for an ice cream. Oh, there crepes and churros >> and ice cream. >> And ice cream. Go on the seaf. And there’s another teddy bear there with a pole sticking straight up the middle. What’s with all these bears? >> Must be a French Christmas. And maybe I’ve never seen never seen them before. Yeah, we’re coming back out to the harbor. And another teddy. It is warmer. Yeah, it’s different. That’s the view around from the end of the harbor and across the beach and down the seafront. And there are places open. I don’t know what the food’s like there, but we don’t know what the food’s like anyway, do we? We’re walking back along the seafront now. And uh yeah, it’s it’s a lovely relaxed atmosphere, isn’t it? Everybody out walking and >> Yeah. >> and in the bars and restaurants. It’s really nice. >> They’re all pretty packed. The ones that look any good. >> Yeah. That’s a cafe. There’s one table. >> No, I don’t think so. >> What you up to there? >> Um, yeah. Food. >> Right. So, you’ve got steaks, you’ve got um chicken. >> I’ll just have a burger or something. >> Um, order. Yeah, a burger. >> Yeah, >> classic burger. >> Yeah. And I might have, let’s have a look. >> Yeah, I’m going to have a chicken Caesar salad and some chips. >> Yeah, >> he’ll take the order when he comes back for with the wine. >> Yeah, >> it was very quick. So, >> yeah, >> very quick on us. >> Right. Cheers. >> Cheers, Darren. This is our first um meal out. Yeah, it’s nice start enjoying the trip, huh? >> Yeah. >> Well, we’ve reached the Mediterranean. >> It’s all right. We’ve reached the Mediterranean. It’s nice to sh It’s nice. >> Hi guys. >> Yeah. Hi guys. And cheers. Yeah, I should be saying cheers in French. >> Come on in, >> Sante. >> I’m struggling to remember my French. >> I shouldn’t bother too much. I’ll be doing Spain, too. >> Well, that would suit you cuz you just ordered in order the wine in Spanish. Yeah. Blanca getting everything. No, >> I’m not very good. >> Look at that. That looks good, Alan. >> And I’ve had a chicken Caesar salad, which also looks very good. >> Lovely. M. >> Really good. I feel heat. I am just going to sit here and say guys, >> you enjoyed your meal? >> It was lovely. Really, really good. >> Toy with the idea of another night? >> Yeah, I think so. >> Possibly. >> Yeah, I think so. >> But they’ll have to look at the next vlog to see. Well, yes, that’s the point. Well, do we don’t we? Should we? Shouldn’t we? Comments below. >> Bit of drama. >> For now, it deers. >> It looks like a lady with a child looking out to see, waiting for her fisherman husband to come in. At least that’s my take on it. So, we’re going a different way back. I guess it’s a decoration cuz it doesn’t look good for anything else. So, we’re walking this way in the hope that it gets us back to the air. I’m sure it does. Actually, we’re going in the right direction, aren’t we? >> Yeah. >> Well, I hope you enjoyed that place as much as we did. It was super. And it should be on everybody’s list.
