Sourcing Vintage Decor in South of France | Brocantes, Antiques & Hidden Gems
Hi guys, it’s me Indra, the founder of Meso Amaran, and I’m here as today we are heading on our first sourcing trip ever to the south of France. and I’m taking you with me. We will be staying there for a week and we will be sourcing treasures for you day in and out. We are super excited, but we have a very big road trip coming up as we are going to drive from the north of France to the south of France and it’s around 16 hours toll-free roads. So, it’s going to take us a while to get there. But despite that, we are still very excited, especially since we’re going to be staying in one of the cutest Airbnbs that I’ve already wanted to stay for a while. And I know that this place is going to be the biggest inspiration for our brand and for you guys as well. So definitely keep watching if you want to see this Airbnb as well. But for now, let’s hit the road and I’ll see you guys in South of France very soon and I’ll take you along with me. We arrived at night in Solivance, one of our favorite towns in the south of France. This time we stayed at an Airbnb that’s been on my bucket list forever. The former home of poet Jacqu P. The rustic charm, the interiors just so beautiful. Everything about it inspires meo emirant. We woke up early to catch the sunrise and start our sourcing day. However, before we went to the market, we took a quick stroll through the lovely town of Sample Deance. While it was still quiet without anyone around time to head out. So, our first stop was a nice pro market. It happens every Monday and it spread across three different squares. I expected it to be really small, but there were so many vendors and so many treasures. This market was mostly filled with a lot of silverware, a lot of paintings, and the prices were quite fair in my opinion. Look at this beautiful Venetian mirror. Then we decided to take a short walk by the beach in Nice and just fully absorb that sun that we have been missing for a while. And then it was time to head to K for Marishi Fvi, which is a covered market filled with brocant that happens every Monday as well. It was smaller than I had hoped, but I still found some really lovely paintings. So, it was definitely worth the stop, especially since I was able to walk a little bit around in Canwell and mostly grab one of my favorite pastries, this kind of strawberry tart with cream. So, so good. We then drove home and had a cozy afternoon taking a bath as well as enjoying the beautiful Airbnb that we were in. And we ended the day with watching a movie by Barbara Stryand. The next morning started with another sunrise and we decided to have some breakfast outside. Our usual breakfast is avocado toast with scrambled eggs. So that’s also what we decided to do here. And look at this cute little cat that has decided to join us. Before heading out, I made my usual matcha for an energy boost, which we’re really going to need while my boyfriend drank his usual coffee. And it was such lovely weather, so we just needed to do another walk before heading out for a busy day. The weather was so nice. It was, it just felt so nice to have the sun on our skin and to really take in all of the details of this beautiful old town. I get such happy vibes from seeing a window open and hearing all the noises that go on in the morning in someone’s house, hearing the sounds of a shower that they’re fully enjoying their slow mornings. Then we headed to Grass, which is a lovely town not too far from Sample Deon. And the way there was just stunning. All the rock formations, all the green is something that I really enjoy seeing. And upon arriving, it turned out that it was just a regular market with just new clothes and fruit. So, we decided to head to Vance instead. It was quite small, but we found this beautiful table, some pots, and a few treasures for the shop. I forgot to film again because everything just went so fast. And when we got back to assemble the vans, we just walked around a little bit and returned to the Airbnb for the rest of the evening and afternoon. Another early start. I just really love waking up for sunrise on holidays or in this case sourcing trips to really get slow mornings. So I was able to shower and I also read a little bit while my boyfriend was making me some breakfast. What a life. After having our delicious breakfast, we drove to Antip for their weekly pant market. It really was one of my favorites. It was small, but it was filled with beautiful pieces and they were just the kindest sellers. I strolled around there for a while and the prices were just so fair. I may be biased a little bit because Antique is one of my favorite bigger towns in the south of France. We also found a cute antique shop where we bought some little treasures as well and strolled a little bit more around before heading back to our Airbnb where we just chilled a little bit. And then we witnessed a beautiful sunset from our Airbnb. I mean, just take a look at this moon. It is simply incredible. And then we finished the night by putting on the fireplace, obviously, and watching one of my favorite movies, Pride and Prejudice, which my boyfriend hasn’t watched. So, it was the perfect occasion and season to do so. We woke up early again, ready to head to Provence for the last market of our trip. Since we were taking toll-free roads, we really needed to leave soon to get there in time for the markets. Our first proven stop was the Villanuv Leavin Saturday Market. It runs all year and has incredible vintage pieces, but at very steep prices. I filmed a few items that I didn’t want to forget. And yes, I bought some, too. Just take a look at all these unique pieces, especially these mirrors. I basically wanted to bring everything home, but we didn’t have the space as we just went by car. And they mostly had furniture, which is something that we just couldn’t bring this time. We really had to focus on bringing smaller pieces and more easy to ship to you guys. After that, we strolled through Aignon’s old town. It is so beautiful, especially in the quiet off season. We grabbed pastries from Laaji Dea. And let me tell you, they were easily one of the best croissants I have ever had. So, it’s definitely worth checking them out. We then also strolled a little bit through the town and just admired and soaked in everything that was around us and then also decided to head up to the castle for some amazing views. The castle was closed, but the entire area just felt so dreamy and so calm because there were barely any tourists during this time of year. The thing I love most about visiting towns like these is to really appreciate all the small details. I always look up instead of looking down and really admire especially windows and the architecture of these particular old buildings for example. Am I the only one who just gets insane happiness from looking at windows like this? The next morning we headed to Exxon Province and the way there let me tell you and as you can see was stunning. All the nature around us, all the mountain formations, rock formations, it was simply beautiful. So we have arrived to Exon Pavons to the weekly pock market. Because of the rain, there weren’t super many vendors, but we still left with a few cute pieces at fair prices. Since it was our first time in Exon Province, so we explored the town and it had so many charming cafes and restaurants. We also tried Madame Popcorn because the line was huge and I just basically had a little bit of FOMO. We got the salted butter caramel and the caramel almond cashew mix. It was the perfect snack. Next up was the Sunday market in Liil Lagor. It was raining there as well, so fewer vendors had set up and also were quite late to set up, which was quite a pity because it is usually one of the best markets in the entire region. But even then, I still managed to pick up a bunch of pieces. though I didn’t get clips since everyone, us included, was basically rushing between the rain. But the silver lining is that the antique shops in this little town stay open on weekends. So, we wandered through them and the town for hours. Most of the pieces were above our budget, but we left with a beautiful old wooden chair that I just couldn’t leave behind. And I’m not sure yet whether I’m ready to sell this one or keep it in my own home. And this town was simply stunning because it basically has all these waterways/kennels. And since I’m from Belgium, it reminded me a little bit of Bruge as well as a little bit of Amsterdam. And I really just loved walking through these lovely streets and walking hours through these antique shops and really get inspiration for what it is that I want to do with Messo Emirant. So what I love a lot is that besides from separate boutique shops, they also really had bigger indoor markets with individual shops inside. And these were just so cozy and all the sellers were just super friendly with each other and having lunch together. And I really just love the vibe that was going on there. Got hungry, so took a little pistake cookie. I also found this cute shop that had so many porcelain, but it was quite steep, so we decided not to bring any. We just decided to enjoy the town a little bit more since it stopped raining. And it was just simply magical. And people here were so nice. And then we also ended the day with takeaway pizza by the water. So simple yet so perfect. On our way home, we made one last stop at a vit. And yes, we found even more pieces. It was such a successful sourcing trip, especially since it was my first and I’m so excited to shoot everything and share the new finds with you very, very soon.
