U.S. Tourism in 2025: What the Full Year Finally Revealed

U.S. tourism in 2025 tells a very different story than most people expected.
After a year of shifting travel patterns, changing perceptions, and uneven recoveries, the full-year data reveals what actually happened — and why it matters.

Some regions returned strongly. Others never did. And long-haul markets that once formed the backbone of U.S. tourism quietly pulled back.

This year-end analysis breaks down the key shifts shaping American tourism in 2025 — from Canada’s early pullback and Europe’s stalled return to long-haul travel patterns and the spending data that exposed the deeper trend.

Rather than focusing on headlines or short-term fluctuations, this video looks at the full picture: which markets declined, which held steady, and how traveler perception changed over the course of the year.

  1. We’re seeing very different reactions to U.S. travel this year depending on where people are coming from.

If you’re outside the U.S., has your willingness to visit changed in 2025 — or stayed the same?
And if you’re in the U.S., have you noticed any changes where you live?

    Interested to hear different perspectives.

  2. As an American, I can only say that I’m sorry and that I understand. Our politics are going through a transition period and it’s not yet clear where that eventually leads. Trump did not cause this, he just took advantage of existing societal conflicts and trends that were brewing just below the surface from the Bush and Obama years. MAGA is loud and scary to many people but it’s not nearly as bad or as big as people make it out to be. Same goes with the extreme left. Both groups, however, currently dominate political discourse today with views that are polarizing. At some point the political “middle” will re-emerge and offer a more nuanced alternative. National elections are still decided by the movement of the independent voter. There was not a moderate on the ticket this last round. Let’s hope that people will feel more comfortable going forward. Be patient, enjoy other destinations for now, but don’t write us off completely. Hope we see you soon!

  3. Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪! My husband and I loved visiting the US but would not consider it now after all that’s happened in 2025. Our daughter and son-in-law cancelled their trip to the US this year. Most people we know would not consider travel to the US at this time. It’s terrifying to see how apparently easy it was to turn a well respected country, into the complete opposite in such a short period of time. We’re rooting for you all and hope this current situation can be corrected, and soon 🤞💚💚💚

  4. These percentages are too low! No one should support or visit the US at this time. Not only is it not safe, it’s immoral to support war criminals and those that vote for them!

  5. We truly love visiting the United States and have always felt very welcome there. For now, however, we’ve chosen to wait, as we’re concerned about how the current government is acting toward the rest of the world. We sincerely hope things will change with the next election, and we look forward to visiting again when that happens.

  6. We from the NL cancelled a planned road trip through the western part of the USA in 2026. It’s simply not safe anymore. Now thinking to replan our trip the beautiful Canada, Banf BC to be exact.
Though I feel sorry for those who are struggling now thanks to the political climate in the states due to the orange bafoon!

  7. At this point I am avoiding the USA at all cost. It seems to be unsecure, dangerous and not welcoming. There so many better places where people respect one another. Currently in opposite to what happens in the USA. Pitty, but it just quickly became a dreadful place where nobody is safe anymore :/

  8. If you do the right thing and impeach Trump, arrest him and put him in jail then we might revisit the US again – if not there are other countries who are more welcoming to other people which we will visit in stead.
So Congress what will you do with Trump? It’s your call!

  9. Also I know some folks who decided not to go. There was the horrible news that a young girl was confined and kept in a cold hall. She got ill and was sent home. No visa as she did not know.

  10. When I was traveling in Europe in late spring, on a couple of occasions people struck up casual conversations and asked how I felt about Trump. I didn’t say much—only that, yes, the U.S. has changed. The tone was enough. It was understood that the country has entered a phase many Americans aren’t proud of, and one that many Europeans view with open disdain.

  11. Cancelled our trip to Russia in 2022. Cancelled our trips (3) to the US in 2025! Portugal, Mexico, Spain, Andorra, France, and Monaco got or getting our travel dollars instead

  12. To state the obvious, the problem is Trump, plus his policies and ghouls like Kristi Noem and Stephen Miller. It's hard to get them to CARE about tourism arrivals even with billions of dollars being lost, but if both the World Cup and 250th birthday in summer 2026 flop as tourism draws, it might wake more people up.

  13. A big problem with the MAGA base is that many don't even have passports and even most of those who do use them only on cruises or to go to tourism-oriented places like the Bahamas or Cancun. These individuals are easy prey for Fox News and Republican politicians telling them all kinds of lies about the rest of the world. One of the biggest they tell is that they're all trying to come to the U.S. No, the pattern is people in poorer countries trying to move to richer ones, of which the U.S. is just one of the possibilities. If we're not taking people but Germany or Australia is, they go to Germany or Australia. If you've been around Amsterdam or Toronto lately you know it's not a U.S.-only thing.

  14. Well… duh.
Traveling as a tourist is about doing something pleasant. And US doesn't feel like a pleasant place nowadays. Doesn't feel welcoming.
    Canada, on the other hand..

  15. It's your own fault for electing a president who behaves with utter disrespect towards the rest of the world. When traveling abroad, you want to feel welcome, not treated like a criminal the moment you arrive. A head of state must represent a country and cultivate an image. President Trump completely ruined everything in his first year with his megalomaniacal policies and his disrespectful treatment of neighboring and allied countries. I hope the next president can slowly calm things down, but that will be a long process, one that Biden has restarted and that voters have dragged out for this president 😢

But at least there will soon be a ballroom (which nobody needs) at the White House.

  16. Well done little donnie.
You know it all, so you must be happy and proud of what you’ve done.

Don’t worry, the world won’t bother your country’s decline into jokedom anymore

    NEVER 51,🇨🇦

  17. Why do you want to travel in that foolish country USA has become. I do not want to give my money to people who are no more allies but more and more ennemies of European democracies. I don’t like MAGA people supporting Poutine dictator, I am afraid of all policemen in this country and of no digital privacy Trump projects. I prefer to stay and visit Europe.

  18. I'm surprised travel to US from Denmark dropped only 23%, for all the Danish people who when for holiday to America and supported their economy so they could invade Greenland. Good luck!

  19. I am surprised at how little the drop is. Personally I will never go to America again. I will never visit a country that supports such a tyrannical dictator. Any leader that suppresses all opposition and criticism is anti democracy.
