On one side of the Brussels-Charleroi Canal, in Brussels, Belgium, just a block from my hotel is a primarily North African and Middle Eastern neighborhood. Molenbeek! On the other side of the canal, it quickly transitions into the central part and more touristy parts of Brussels.
