Just Hanging Around Buckingham Palace (Changing of the Guard, East Wing Tour and Canada Connections)

Experience the lively mayhem of a classic London moment as we squeezed into the crowds outside Buckingham Palace during the iconic Changing of the Guard. From navigating the packed gates to catching glimpses of the ceremony, this video captures the energy, chaos, and charm of simply hanging around one of the world’s most famous royal landmarks.

After the ceremony, we explored the meaningful Canada Memorial and the ornate Canada Gate, reflecting on the deep historical ties between Canada and the UK. These stops add a personal layer to the day β€” especially for Canadian travelers looking to connect with their heritage abroad.

We also shared our thoughts on the Buckingham Palace East Wing Tour and the general State Rooms palace tour, offering impressions on the architecture, artwork, and behind‑the‑scenes stories that make these experiences unforgettable. And wait, I did what in the Palace!? Watch the video to hear what happened.

If you’re planning a visit to Buckingham Palace, curious about the Changing of the Guard, or interested in the Canada–UK connection, this video brings you along for a full, immersive day in the heart of London.

  1. I ❀Lyndon’s visage in the still picture
He would appear PERFECTLY as Captain of the Guards………but that would mean you would have to leave Edmonton behind πŸ˜πŸ˜‘πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

  2. Despite living most of my life very close to London, I've never stuck around long enough to watch the changing of the guard, and watching this doesn't make me want to! Too many crowds! I'm glad the weather stayed pleasant for you and you found a few nods to Canada there 😊

  3. Well, I've had Buckingham Palace on my list since I was a child- and it hasn't happened ( yet). Maybe 2026 is the year. What a fabulous visit you had. I'm glad it turned out so well for you weather wise. Those gates are so impressive – they always have my attention. A wonderful sharing of a great experience Donna. Thank you. Happy weekend. β„πŸ‡³πŸ‡±πŸ™‹β€β™€πŸ₯β›„

  4. Exciting to be in London and see the Changing of the Guard! It’s kind of funny nowadays that everyone is filming with their cellphones, us too, haha. Great to see the marching and hear the music too. It’s such a famous location, fun to be there in person I’m sure. I bet they have wonderful art and furnished rooms, too bad you can’t take photos on that tour. I liked seeing the Maple leaf and hearing about the connections with Canada. πŸ˜„πŸ‘ŒπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

  5. That was cool Donna got to see both guards and RAF bands & service men (loved thr change of pace from the slow to the quick March from the RAF πŸ‘Œ)
Glad Lyndon and yourself enjoyed the palace tour too !
    Best wishes
