Locronan, the jewel of Brittany, France! ✨
Regarded as one of the “most beautiful villages in France,” its perfectly preserved 16th-century granite buildings and quaint cobblestone streets will transport you back in time to the Middle Ages. Its dreamlike atmosphere has also made it a filming location for numerous masterpieces, including the film “Tess.” Discover the peaceful and mysterious charm of Locronan, where time seems to stand still, in this video! 🇫🇷📽️

Locronan is part of the very select clubs of “Small Towns of Character” and “Most beautiful villages of France”, and with good reason. As you walk in front of the superb residences around the beautiful central square and its well, you’ll soon understand.
Many films have used the town as a backdrop: “Tess” by Roman Polanski, “Chouans” by Philippe de Broca, “A Very Long Engagement” by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, etc. Film-makers (and viewer) appreciate this setting, which is free of electric cables, aerials and traffic lights.

Elegant houses with sculpted dormer windows surround the square. Saint-Ronan church and Pénity chapel, next to each other, look like one. ◆’Les Plus Beaux Villages de France’
The ‘Les Plus Beaux Villages de France’ (‘The Most Beautiful Villages of France’)association was founded in 1982 to protect the outstanding heritage of the villages and prevent rural exodus. As of 2024, it numbers 176 member villages.

PRE-SELECTION CRITERIA ‘Les Plus Beaux Villages de France’
1. Demonstrate a maximum population of 2,000 inhabitants within the candidate village (the total municipal population may exceed 2,000 inhabitants),
2. Possess, within the village’s territory, at least two protected areas designated as Historical Monuments, sites, or remarkable heritage sites,
3. Demonstrate collective motivation for the application project by producing a resolution from the Municipal Council.
And. In addition, this label is only given to villages that meet 32 other stringent conditions.
