Very nice to see you both in the Efteling again and let me tell youthat you were both fortunate and unfortunate! Just a few weeks later the Efteling was covered in a thick pack of snow, 50 cm at some places.Lots of rides were closed than due to the weather, and even the Fairytale Forrest has been closed because of the danger of falling branches! One more further detail, the topping on the hot chocolate is simple whipped creme, but Dutch whipped cream is delicious, Thumbs up from me here in the Netherlands.

Strong accent but i wouldn't say butchering it. And i like your possible nr 1 pick for dark rides in Efteling it still is mine even after thewer rides of Dance Macabre and Symbolica, ok the outsides of those building ar defently better but there is just something about dreamflight that resonates with me.

Nice vlog of Efteling. Recently I got insight into the long term destination plan of Efteling. They have bought 3 new big plots of land to build new new rides on. Efteling also announced they will built 3 drop towers near Baron 1898 which will have the theming of Baron and the name Hooghmoed. Hooghmoed is the last name of the baron animatronic puppet inside Baron 1898. His name is Gustave Hooghmoed or Gustave (baron) Hooghmoed. Hooghmoed also means pride in Dutch. They have some room to build on close to Baron so this is the exception to the rule that they have to demolish a ride to build a new one. They did demolish the predecessor of Danse Macabre called Spookslot to be able to build Dance Macabre. Efteling can only built on 11% of the land due to all the animals living there as Efteling was built in a nature reserve. Basically if Efteling wants to build a new ride they have to destroy an existing ride to make room for a new ride. One of the prizes Dance Macabre won is The Golden Ticket Award 2025 for best new family attraction beating Harry Potter at second place and Monsters Unchained at third place. Especially Dance Macabre people are raving about lately.

Fun facts: Python is the only ride in Efteling that has no real theming and used to be the biggest, longest and fastest coaster in Europe in the early 80's. It was retracked years ago. The madhouse Villa Volta was the first ever madhouse to be built in the world. Later other themeparks copied the idea of a madhouse and made them arguably better. De Vliegende Hollander / The Flying Dutchman water coaster is one of a kind because one company Kumbak built The Flying Dutchman in cooperation with Efteling who designed The Flying Dutchman themselves. This company ran into financial and technical problems building it. Efteling had to hire another company Intamin to fix the problems and the first company never built a ride like Flying Dutchman again therefore The Flying Dutchman is one of a kind in the world.

Americans who went to Efteling and also went to The Fairytale forest called Efteling the dark side of Disney. This because Efteling doesnt sugarcoat the original fairytales as they were written in the original fairytale books. Some fairytales are gruesome and they are all read to Dutch children without sugarcoating them. Some of these fairytales teach kids about stranger danger for example don't let the wolf into the house or he will eat the 7 baby goats. The Fairytale Forest in itself is huge, you need a 1.5 hours to 2 hour walkthough to be able to see it all. Some people can even get lost in the Fairytale Forest for half a day. The Fairytale Forest is the heart of Efteling because it started it's life as themepark with The Fairytale Forest.

Efteling is not owned by a big company like Disney it is owned by a foundation that is why prices in general are lower than Disney prices. It is not really non profit but the only shareholder IS non profit so that makes for an arrangement that the profit they do make goes back into developing and theming of the park and not to rich shareholders and owners. Efteling has a lot less budget than Disney has because they dont charge the prices Disney charges. Still Symbolica cost 35 million euros to build. Danse Macabre also cost 35 million euros to build. Dance Macabre replaced Spookslot and is a haunted abbey with a newly invented ride system called Dynamic Motion Stage no other themepark in the world has. The treasure chest ATM opens sometimes when you pull the giant key out of the rocks like with the sword excalibur. I have seen grown man try and fail and then a little girl comes along and tries it and she opens the treasure chest without problem but I have no idea why or how it works when it works.

Some people say I like Efteling to be made into a resort; it already is. There is a park with a big pond with cabins and houses people can rent besides renting rooms in the existing hotels.

Efteling started as a main football field with 2 practice football fields and a playground. They expanded the playground more and more and more people with children started coming. Then they built The Fairytale Forest which depicts life size fairytales. Then people from all over the country started coming. All this history is on the official Efteling website at least on the Dutch version of it. Efteling opened as a nature reserve / nature park in 1951. In 1952 Efteling opened as a themepark. 3 years latee in 1955 later Walt Disney opened his first themepark Disneyland so Efteling is one of the oldest themeparks in the world. The Fairytale forest is huge; you need to do a 1.5 to 2 hour walkthrough to be able to see it all. The fairytale forest is famous for the life size puppet with the longest neck in the world and the donkey that lifts his tail and poops golden colored Efteling coins for children / adults to catch to take the Efteling coin home with them as a souvenir. The Fairytale Forest is the heart of Efteling.

Some people complained it is expensive to buy a bottle of water in Efteling but you don't have to buy a bottle of water in Efteling. When you bring your own bottle there are free water refill stations / fountains in Efteling. You do have to be carefull because some look like water refill stations but say: "Dit is geen drinkwater" which means this is not water you can drink so these are not water refill stations. Just ask the staff where the good water refill stations are. You can drink the tap water all over The Netherlands. The water is cleaned by a company that has workers clean the water every day so it is healthy to drink and tastes good.
