We got to Champa Devi by driving from Kathmandu to Pharping/Bhanjyang (about an hour depending on traffic) and hiking up through forest trails to a flat clearing near the ridge where we set up camp; we stayed for one night so we could watch sunset, stargaze, and hike to the summit early the next morning for sunrise, with cool and breezy weather in the evening and cold temperatures overnight (around single-digit °C), while the daytime hike was mild and comfortable; no special permits were required beyond a normal tourist visa and a small local donation near the shrine, and although a guide or representative isn’t mandatory, we went with one for easier transport and camp setup; our group had 4 people and we used two 2-person, 3-season tents along with sleeping bags rated for cold nights, which worked well for the exposed and windy conditions near the summit.
