Jed Smith River is so clear you can see through to the bottom even in deep spots. There are many outstanding trails that lead to the river or connected creeks.
I’d rate the trails around the Jedediah Smith area about a 9/10 overall. They’re well maintained, mostly easy to moderate, and the scenery is outstanding! Conditions are usually good, though roots and some muddy spots show up after rain. The clean air and extra oxygen is intoxicating!
At this time of year we often pass by no one during our hike, like yesterday.
