45-Minute Walk: Canal Saint-Martin to Parc de la Villette | Paris 4K HDR
Join me on a scenic 45-minute afternoon stroll through the vibrant heart of eastern Paris, following the historic Canal Saint-Martin all the way to the futuristic Parc de la Villette.
We begin our journey at the iron footbridges of the Canal Saint-Martin in the 10th arrondissement. This 19th-century waterway, commissioned by Napoleon I, is famous for its shaded quays, traditional locks, and the iconic green bridges that have appeared in films like Amélie.
As we continue north, we’ll transition into the Bassin de la Villette, the largest artificial lake in Paris. You’ll see locals enjoying the water’s edge, passing under the historic Crimée Lift Bridge (Pont levant de Crimée)—the last remaining hydraulic lift bridge in the city.
The scenery shifts as we enter the Parc de la Villette, one of the largest architectural and cultural parks in Paris. This ultra-modern green space is home to grand lawns, thematic gardens, and striking red structures known as “Folies.”
We’ll pass by the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie, the biggest science museum in Europe, before reaching our final destination: La Géode. This breathtaking mirror-finished geodesic dome is a masterpiece of engineering, reflecting the sky and the surrounding park in its polished steel surface.
Whether you are using this video for a treadmill workout, background relaxation, or to plan your next trip to France, I hope you enjoy this peaceful walk through the “other” Paris.
