The mango hype is unfortunately real… it was a delicious mango. I wanted to hate it so bad bc a half slice of mango should not cost $20 USD. I also hate that the truffled egg toast with black truffle was amazing. It should be illegal for eggs on toast to cost $50 USD, but if you go, you have to order it. The French toast was delicious and had a super custardy-pillowy texture. I didn’t like the creme crue (tasted like sour cream and didn’t work well with all the components combined), but I loved the blueberry compote. The only major let down of the breakfast was the buckwheat pancake with salmon. It was just so boring and the texture of the buckwheat pancake was a horrible vehicle for the smoked salmon, cream cheese, and veggies.

Service was poor. We were sat upstairs next to the window, and it seemed like there weren’t that many hands on board upstairs. Getting the attention of any waiter for water or the bill was difficult.

Love the review! I’ve been tempted to go for breakfast but haven’t yet.

I had dinner there once for my birthday. We had a tasting menu but it just felt a bit ‘off’. Maybe a bit rehearsed/or a bit clinical and not very special. We live in London have done dozens of tasting menus and none have been as disappointing.

  2. Jealous jealous jealous. Your post has ruined my breakfast today. I was so happy with brown rice, pickled mango, and yogurt until I saw this. RUINED!

    First time in Europe? 😂

  4. Went to Hide a few weeks ago and loved it. For wine lovers it is a must go. The owner also owns Hedonism, which is a wine store nearby that is arguably the best wine store in the world. And, we were able to buy two fantastic aged bottles of wine at the store earlier in the week, and the store delivered it to the restaurant where it was served for us with no corkage!!

I went a few days ago as a solo diner and just couldn’t bring myself to order the Mango or Truffle Eggs on toast…the cost is too absurd for me to get over despite the hype. Ended up trying the French Toast and had a similar reaction to the creme crue, took me like 5 min to get a handle on the flavor and whether it added anything beneficial to the dish. Also felt that while the unique pillowy texture is different, the middle felt a litttttle too dry on its own. Compote was amazing though! All in all, probably won’t return in the future…32 quid (with tea) just feels like it’s not worth the cost to still feel hungry afterwards unless willing to shell out 50+quid for pretty fundamental breakfast items.
