No foreigner should EVER buy a property in Thailand. You can't buy land. Plus, if you buy to see an increase in value, you will be disappointed. Renting is affordable and flexible. What's this attitude of "I'm retired and I'm going to find the perfect place to settle down" BS? Keep the cash and rent and travel. Phuket has been way too commercial for years and is now been invaded by Russians avoiding the Russia – Ukraine war.
