Hey,
at the beginning of this year I set myself a goal. 12 months, 12 countries. Tbh it’s kinda big goal and I don’t think I’ll manage to fulfil this goal, but what’s stopping me from trying, right?
As my January destination I chose Hungary, with it’s capital city Budapest. I spent there a prolonged weekend (from Friday to Sunday). It was a trip full of first times for me. It was my first time in Budapest, my first time using train to travel abroad, my first booking a shared apartment and my first time solo travelling. All of those experiences has been more or less great.
Now to the destination itself. Budapest is beatiful city with a lot of things do, see and try. It’s not so different from Prague (in solely my opinion), both in vibe and architectural way. Apart from recommendation of the main sights like Parliament, Fisherman’s bastion, Buda Castle and Market hall, I have to strongly recommend Buda Castle Labyrinth. It’s really mesmerazing place full of statues, eerie atmosphere and the main thing. The cell of Dracula himself!!!
If I can rate a place as first time visitor I’d give it 8/10. I was not a big fan of the cuisine and it reminded me a lot of capital of my country Prague. Those are my only “complaints”. I will definitely return to see more of this beautiful city.
One more thing. Apart from great experience, a ton of photos, stories and sausages, I also brought home a bed bugs. My first time with them too! No matter that, I’m not regreting a single minute there.
I’ll post it with some photos, so you can enjoy it with me.
