Nordkette – a mountain range located north of Innsbruck, Austria. The highest peak ⛰️ is Kleiner Solstein, at 2,637 m above sea level. In 2002, along with Innsbruck and the Karwendel Mountains, it was added to the UNESCO Tentative List.
Hafelekarspitze – a peak ⛰️ in the Karwendel Mountains, in the Eastern Alps. It is located in the Austrian state of Tyrol, near the border with Germany. A cable car 🚡 has operated on the mountain’s slopes since 1928. The upper station is located at an altitude of 2,269 m, and the rest of the way to the summit must be covered on foot. Since 1931, an observatory for measuring cosmic rays has been located there, at the initiative of Austrian Nobel Prize winner Victor Franz Hess. There is also a cross at the summit.
The Alps are the highest mountain range in Europe, extending in an arc from the Mediterranean coast near Savona to the Danube Valley near Vienna. The range is approximately 1,200 km long, 150 to 250 km wide, and covers an area of ​​approximately 220,000 km².
