I Tried Japan’s Most Luxurious Sleeper Train

Today I’m trying Japan’s most luxurious sleeper train, Train Suite SHIKI-SHIMA. It’s a train so special you need to enter a ballot just to purchase a ticket – but I found another way… all will be explained in the video.

I’ll share with you exactly what it’s like to live onboard, from my deluxe suite (one of a kind!), to the cuisine served in the restaurant, the lounge car and the futuristic observation cars. It’s an experience quite unlike anything else. We also get a chance to take a peak at the two storey maisonette suite, which has the bedroom on one floor and a tea room on the other! Plus I get the chance to enjoy snowfall, when the train passes through the mountains! As usual I’ll break down the total cost and how I booked this. Please do let me know what you think to the video down below.

  1. I heard that 7 samurais commit harakiri for every passanger that comes for a ride and that basic price ticket is 2.500.000€. Also British national orchestra is seated in one wagon and playing Metallica songs.

  2. I was lucky enough to go on its first journey in 2017. I say lucky, but my father paid well for the privilege. ( i am surprised you are allowed to record inside)
EDIT: a point i can make, which would accentuate that which is somewhat of a problem in Japan. My dad is 190 cm, my brother as well, and i am 205 cm. Only in China have i felt more of a freak, towering over everyone.

  3. You should do fly a fan deals a couple of times a year and take a fan with you on your review travels. It’s so nice you take your fam with you too. ❤

  4. I do not know if this was asked in any of these video of the 3 Japanese trains. Are they all narrow gauge trains or are they each different based on where they go to on their loop? It looked like they are narrow gauge but I am unsure of this.

  5. It's sad actually we should all be able to afford this at least once in our lifetime, but sadly we cant, this is on a whole other level. I need to think if i eat potatoes or rice tomorrow.
