The Château de Malmaison is a historic French country house located in Rueil-Malmaison, near Paris, known primarily as the residence of Empress Joséphine and Napoleon Bonaparte from 1799 to 1814, a “place in the country” just half an hour from Paris, it served as a, government headquarters and a, hub of political activity during the Consulate. Today, it operates as the Musée national des châteaux de Malmaison et de Bois-Préau, showcasing Empire-style decor and, personal items from the couple’s life, including a, collection from Napoleon’s exile on St. Helena.
