Logistics question about a flight (from an inexperienced traveler). If I search for a flight from Bari to Chiang Mai on Thai Airways, I have this combination of airlines:

1- Bari – Istanbul – Turkish Airways

2- Istanbul – Bangkok – Thai Airways

3- Bangkok – Chiang Mai – Thai Airways

However, the two airlines, with separate bookings, handle baggage differently: Turkish only allows an 8kg carry-on bag, while Thai allows both a 7kg carry-on bag and a 23kg checked bag.

But from this screenshot from the Thai website, which I'm sharing, it looks like I can bring the 23kg bag on the first Turkish flight as well. What do you think?

Checked baggage allowances aren’t flight by flight. Thai is the most significant carrier, so their checked baggage allowance – apparently 23 kg – applies for the entire journey. Carry-on allowance does, however, vary by operating carrier, so you have to conform to the most restrictive carry-on allowance. This is explained in the !baggage FAQ.
