I Got Scammed in Kuala Lumpur

Exploring a night market in Kuala Lumpur took an unexpected turn when I got scammed.

In this video I walk through what happened, how it happened, and what I learned from it. If you’re travelling Southeast Asia, visiting KL night markets, or backpacking on a budget, this is the kind of mistake that’s easy to make and worth knowing about.

Part of backpacking Southeast Asia with $15,000 until the money runs out. Wins, losses, and everything in between.

  1. Married to a Malaysian lady for 40 plus years but live in the UK..Been travelling to Malaysia and Singapore virtually every year since the early 80's..I have NEVER once been scammed and found all Malaysians (Chinese, Malay and Indians) to be very friendly and HONEST..Years ago I visited a coffee shop located at Kluang, Johore, railway station for their famous breakfast … I inadvertently left my wallet on the table on leaving….I walked for around 100m before there was a tug on my shoulder from behind. It was the owner, with my wallet..

  2. 😢 Greetings from Kuala Lumpur! So sorry about your encounters with bad operators or scammers in your tours! Always choose Official Middle Tier offerings by reputable companies or hotels or Airlines or Hospitals in accomodations , transports , foods & medicals as there are many scammers operating to lure gullible tourists with their cheap rates that turned out to be scams , that's why all countries have their prisons to held their criminals & all countries have their mental hospitals to deal with their mentally unstable people in the world … Nothing good comes out from selfishness & greed! Stay safe , stay healthy , stay Vigilant & stay humble Guys when travelling in around the world! Sending Love from KL! 🎉✨💞💐🍑🌏⚖️♻️🌿🕊️🇲🇾

  3. You should report them to the police! Great video! If you don’t tell the truth who will? Don’t be suppressed by nasty people who don’t understand! Keep it up dude. You are fabulous just as you are… horrible to be scammed! And be careful with your equipment at hand because they are thieves everywhere that will snatch and steal your equipment and phone and wallet! Do be careful. It’s a large city no different to London… perhaps worse than London are these food scammers…

  4. Remember, like europe now, kl has many migrants from all over asia. Many are refugees and illegal immigrants.

Bangladesh, pakistan, not sure about palestine, syria, indonesia, philippines, myanmar, nepal etc etc. Yep all from poor countries.

You will not like it. So please leave. Less trouble for you.
