Awesome, thanks for the tips, we're heading there in December and will definitely seek out the life changing potato pancakes. The wine with the strudel looked nice too! I really enjoy your videos 😊
Omg I can’t wait to get to Germany! Pork nuckle and will have to try the potato pancakes, haven’t heard of those! Pete said sounds like potato schollops from back home 😜 anyway will give them a try in a couple of months when we’re there. ❤
Himmel un Äd = Himmel und Erde
Die Äpfel vom „Himmel“ (Baum).
Die Kartoffeln aus der Erde.
Get another pork knuckle into you Mark ! Looked bloody amazing ! That Struddle wow wow wow ! Another amazing place !
Lovely couple😊 I am glad that you enjoyed your short visit to my home country and wish you all the best for your next destination.
The name of the dish heaven and earth comes from were the ingrediants (except the blood sausage) are growing.
Heaven = apples and earth = potatoes.
Here in Bavaria we say that Kölsch Bier was the attempt to make water even more watery 😅 If you ever visit Bavaria or wanna drink something bavarian go make or get yourself a Kirschgoaß. It's basically half cola, half dark beer and a shot of cherry liquor. Absolutely delicious 😋
german food is shit
I remember Himmel und Erde from my childhood in the north of Germany. The potato normally has apple mixed in, hence the name of the dish. Potatoes represent the earth and the apple represents heaven. We didn't have it with Blutwurst but with fried diced bacon mixed in with the apple and potato and then hot bacon fat was poured on top of the entire dish.
It is always interesting to see how people from other countries around the world experience the cuisine, culture, landscape and architecture in Germany and share their experiences. What I noticed about you two is the way you hold the fork when you put some of the food in your mouth. Is there a reason why you hold the fork upside down? That's a real balancing act. 😊
