Hi everyone 👋
We’re a group of 6 friends planning a 10-day trip to Nepal from Feb 28 to Mar 10.
This is our first long trip inside Nepal, and before locking things down, we’d love feedback from people who’ve actually done these routes or live there.
Our idea is to mix road trips + short hikes, keep things adventurous but not hardcore trekking, and cover diverse landscapes.
🗺️ Rough Plan as attached in the image
🚗 Transport Plan
We’re planning to hire a private SUV from Pokhara, ideally one that can handle the Mustang roads comfortably. The idea is to keep the same vehicle (and driver) for flexibility.
🙏 What we need help with
-
Does this itinerary make sense pace-wise?
Are we trying to squeeze in too much, especially Mustang → Chitwan? -
Mustang advice:
Is Upper Mustang realistic in this timeline and season (late Feb / early March)?
Permits, road conditions, snow issues? -
Road conditions:
Pokhara → Ghandruk → Mustang
Mustang → Chitwan (this one especially worries us) -
SUV hiring:
Any idea on costs, reliability, or things we should clearly confirm with the driver beforehand? -
Sight recommendations:
If the plan itself is okay, we’d love suggestions on:
Stops/views/hidden gems on the way
Places worth skipping vs must-see spots
Food stops or scenic breaks during long drives
We’re not looking for luxury, just memorable landscapes, decent stays, good food, and smooth logistics.

The biggest thing people underestimate in Nepal isn’t the hiking, it’s the road time.
Pokhara → Ghandruk is easy. No issue there.
Ghandruk → Mustang is where your days start disappearing. Even in a private SUV, you’re looking at long, bumpy stretches once you move past Beni toward Jomsom/Muktinath. It’s scenic, but it’s slow.
If by Upper Mustang you mean Lo Manthang, that’s not realistic in this timeline. That requires a restricted area permit (minimum 10 days + registered guide + significant permit cost). Late Feb can also still have wind and cold up there.
Lower Mustang (Jomsom / Muktinath side) is realistic. Just plan for full driving days.
Mustang → Chitwan in one go is doable, but it’s a grind. Mountain roads down to Pokhara side, then highway toward the Terai. Expect 8–10+ hours depending on traffic and road works.
About the SUV:
Make sure you confirm:=
* Is it true 4WD or just an SUV body?
* Driver has done Mustang route recently.
* No night driving on mountain sections.
* Clear daily hour expectations.
* What happens in case of breakdown.
For 6 people, comfort matters.
Weather-wise:
Late Feb / early March means cold mornings in Mustang, warm days in Chitwan. You’ll experience completely different climates in the same week.
If I had to simplify your trip:
Option 1:
Pokhara → Ghandruk → Lower Mustang properly → back to Pokhara → fly or drive to Chitwan.
Option 2:
Skip Mustang and go deeper Annapurna side with more short hikes and less road fatigue.
Right now the itinerary works, but it’s slightly ambitious if your goal is to enjoy rather than just cover ground. If you had to prioritize one: high desert mountain landscapes or jungle safari vibe?
That decision should shape everything else.
I’m looking for a beautiful woman aged 32–38 who loves life and wants happiness. I am 41years old, a hardworking and decent man. I live in a very beautiful place (mountains, waters, etc.). I am open to candidates of any nationality ☺️ Maybe I can find love here…
Write to me your Facebook so we can get to know each other.
That seems very rushed. Try to go slower. I’d just include Pokhara and the mountains, and 2 days in Kathmandu.
Be respectful of places and people, especially women. There’s been a rise in reports of women not feeling safe due to the increase in Indian tourists in Pokhara.
If by Mustang you mean Upper Mustang (Lo Manthang side), that’s not something I’d casually slot into a 10-day mixed road trip.
It’s a restricted area. Permit is expensive. Guide is mandatory. And once you enter, you’re on a clock whether you like it or not. That changes the rhythm of the whole trip.
Late Feb / early March can be good up there, but it’s dry, windy, and the road isn’t a comfortable SUV scenic drive. It’s long hours of dust and rough sections. Six people in one vehicle sounds fun until you’re five hours into corrugation.
Mustang → Chitwan in the same itinerary is what feels forced. You’ll spend more time repositioning than actually being somewhere.
If this is your first long Nepal trip, I’d simplify:
Either do Pokhara + Ghandruk + Lower Mustang (Jomsom/Kagbeni side)
or
Do mountains properly and skip Chitwan this time.
