I have been camping before, but it was years ago now… and always as the kid. This was the first time I went camping as the adult – taking my son instead of going with a parent. It’s wonderful, but exhausting! I swear I have new found respect for camping parents! Ocala national forest and local springs were amazing. The wildlife did not disappoint! Wish I didn’t have to come back to real life.

That role reversal hits different than you expect it to. Suddenly you are the one setting up the tent in the dark and figuring out the bear box while keeping a kid entertained. Ocala is a great choice for it too – the springs are genuinely stunning. Did your son have a favorite moment, or was he more focused on complaining about the bugs the whole time?
If there’s anything I miss about Florida, it’s winter camping! Sounds like a great success.
