It does help, especially if you aren’t able to keep the cooler in the shade. I’ve had very good results rigging a similar cover for our kegs and jockey boxes at a large group campout.
Be sure to park it on some reflectix as well. Aluminum tape does a better job thermally with the seams than packing tape as a possible future upgrade.
