I’ll admit, with the reviews of Pujol the last few years I didn’t have high expectations. In addition, I slowed down in eating at fine dining places because I don’t enjoy it as much as I used to, especially when I travel. But I had to try Pujol due to how iconic the restaurant was and it’s been on my list for a long time.

Overall, I really enjoyed my meal here.

The starters, especially the corn with ants were amazing. 5/5

Salad with tostada pairing was also really good and I loved how the tostada was spicy with fresh tuna on top.

4/5

Shimp with mole… amazing. The mole was filled with flavor and the shrimp was juicy and big… pause. 4/5

Chicken… this was the biggest miss for me. I didn’t get the wagyu because honestly I’m sick of it and I’ve had it so many times. The chicken was dry and hard to swallow. 2/5

Famous mole… 4/5. Very interesting and a staple of Pujole. The darker mole had so much complexity and flavor. I was full by then so I ate it without the tortilla.

Guava desert – 5/5 – THIS was the BEST desert I’ve ever had at a Michelin restaurant so far. Creamy, soft, and not too sweet. A bit of tart from the fruit on top as well. I destroyed this desert in less than 30 seconds. Presentation was meh but the taste…. Unbelievable.

Overall, I’d give Pujol a solid 4/5. I’ve been to several Michelin restaurants around the world, but no where near the amount that people in this sub have. I’m also a pretty simple to please when it comes to food so I’m sure my standards are lower than most. I still love my fast food and cheap eats.

I still have Kitchen Table, Chefs table Brooklyn Fare, and Zero Conplex Seoul as my current 3 favorite Michelin restaurant. But Pujol would be #5.

  1. Nice!

I went yesterday and was mostly underwhelmed. The corn at the beginning was fantastic and I really enjoyed the almond puree with the greens and the tostada. I didnt enjoy the shrimp dish as mich as you and felt similarly about the chicken. The Mole was a fun experience but I wouldn’t want it again. The Guava dessert was fantastic for me as well, as well as my birthday tree leches.

Went to Quintolnil today and had the best meal of my life. Surpassing Koan, Noma, Oriole, and Blue Hill at Stone Barns. I highly recommend going to Quintolnil – it surpassed everytjing from Pujol from.the food, service, and drinks. Every dish was phenomenal and I wanted to go back right away, unlike Pujol.
