I currently have a Gazelle T4 Overland, and I’m really happy with it. Packed up it’s bizarrely huge, but I love how easy it is to set up; it goes up in only a couple of minutes. I’d like to go larger however, and I’m looking at the Gazelle T8.
My priorities are interior space and ease of setup.
The T4 has been great in wind. I live in the southwest, so rain and snow aren’t a huge issue, especially since if the weather is bad I’ll just stay home.
So what’s everyone’s favorite large tent that falls into this category? I’m ok spending about $3-600. If there’s a better option than the T8 I’m all ears.

I have the same tent. Best I’ve ever used. 50 years of camping
I have the Cabela’s Alaskan Guide tent in four and eight person sizes. Had the small one for over 15 years and it still looks and functions like new. Got the bigger one two years ago because I wanted something big enough to stand up in. It’s at the higher end of your price range, but I couldn’t recommend them higher. The geodesic setup will put up with wind no problem. I’m in PNW, so I know they handle heavy rain. We camp at least 10 times a year, so they’ve been put to heavier use.
I really like my kingdom 8 from REI but not sold anymore =[
I’ll say that the Gazelle T8 is still the way to go. They are great.
Southwest does not equal as a non issue. The worst winds my T4 ever faced were in DV and Valley of Fire
I upgraded the T4 to the T-Hex Hub Overland Edition and have been very pleased. It fits two big cots plus one for the dog and still has plenty of space to move around. It’s entry is on a flat face, not on a corner like the T4 which is a huge benefit in my opinion.
Only have had a chance to camp in it once, but quality seems as good as the T4. Did fine in 20MPH winds once we got all the guy lines pegged.
I got it it direct from Gazelle for 640$, free shipping on a black friday promotion. Unfortunately it’s not listed on their website at the moment and it’s over 1k$ on Amazon… so outside your budget for the time being anyways.
I’ve heard great things about the Gazelle line of tents! I’ve narrowed my search down to the crazy expensive Overlandish Basecamp, and the Gazelle T4 Overland.
Big Agnes Spicer Peak 6.
Very solid, roomy tent. Enough room for two cots while still having room to stand up.
Only used it in the southwest so I can’t speak for wet weather capability. I also haven’t dealt with any crazy winds but it feels very secure when fully staked down.
Set up is easy for two people, but possible for one.
I purchased the Nemo Wagontop 8p in 2021 and it’s one of my favorite camping purchases of all time. My background fo context: Eagle Scout, I grew up in a military family camping at least once a month from 2-25. I’m in my 40s now and take my family camping 1-2x a month. My wife and I love the two rooms of the Nemo and the fact that we can have a dedicated living room when it’s just the two of us with our queen bed. I still have room to stand up with 1 foot of clearance above my head. It takes about 5-10 minutes to set up fully from the bag. While defn not a hiking tent it’s perfect for car or wagon camping.
