Trekking the Planet: French GR65 (Via Podiensis) – Le Puy-en-Valey to Conques
Catch up with the Trekking the Planet team as they summarize their 132-mile, 10-stage trek on the GR65 Via Podiensis trail from Le Puy-en-Valey to Conques. This is the first section of the medieval path that eventually joins trails that lead all the way to Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
Their trek began in the city of Le Puy-en-Valey in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region. From there, they hiked west along high plateaus and through volcanic landscapes. They spent nights in charming historic villages before ending their time in Conques, which is perched on a steep ravine. While trekking they passed numerous churches, abbeys, and historic sites.
This was one of four French treks they completed, totaling 340 miles.
