A luxury hotel brand will be nestled in Seoul for the first time.

Aman, a world-renowned hospitality brand, will open its first hotel in Korea, Aman Seoul, in Cheongdam. Cheongdam is a street where Seoul’s luxury retail, design, and culture gather, facing the Han River in the middle of Gangnam. Shinsegae Property will participate as a development partner, and will create a residence and an Aman club along with a hotel.

Aman left for Amanpuri, which opened in Phuket, Thailand in 1988, and now has 36 hotels, resorts, and residences in 21 countries. Fourteen of these sites are located near or within UNESCO’s protected heritage sites.

There are even guests nicknamed “Aman Jung-ki” due to their strong fan base. Korean stars, including past U.S. presidents, also made headlines. Actor Han Ye-seul drew attention with a photo taken in Amangiri, the U.S., while singer Rain and actress Kim Tae-hee went on their honeymoon in Amanwana, Indonesia.

The architecture and interior reflect traditional Korean spatial elements. Partners and artisans who understand Korean sentiment participated to complete the space, and suites and public spaces brought ideas from Korea’s unique spatial structure and materials. The interior and architecture were designed in minimal tones, and hotels, residences, and Aman clubs each had independent entrances and movements.

Spa and wellness facilities will be built on several floors in the space, and various food and beverage programs will also be equipped, including a dining concept operated by Aman. The Aman Club, which is operated on a membership basis, has a dedicated swimming pool, fitness facilities, and lounge space, and has a space for residents and members to use. Customized furniture and interior elements selected by Aman are applied to brand residences sold separately from hotels.

“Today, Seoul has grown into a city where culture, design technology and wellness meet, and it is affecting the lifestyle of people around the world beyond Korea,” said Vlad Doronin, chairman and CEO of Aman Group. “We want to establish a base for Aman lifestyle in Seoul through Aman Seoul.” Shinsegae Group Chairman Chung Yong-jin said, “Aman Seoul will be a new attempt in Seoul’s lifestyle-related business.”

The project will be conducted in a partnership between Shinsegae Property and Aman, and the announcement comes after a strategic partnership between U.S. real estate developer OKO and Shinsegae Group, led by Chairman Vlad Donin.

Aman Seoul will join the collection of urban hotels that Aman operates in major cities around the world. Aman Beverly Hills, Aman Miami Beach, Aman Dubai, and Aman Singapore are also under development, following Aman Tokyo in Japan, Aman New York in the United States, and Aman Nairt Bangkok in Thailand.
