Paris Day Trip: A peek inside Napoleon’s favourite Chateau (Fontainebleau)
We took an easy Paris day trip to Fontainebleau, the chateau Napoleon called the “true home of kings”. At the chateau we found his personal artifacts — including his famous hat and greatcoat — the only surviving Napoleonic throne room in the world, the room where he abdicated, and beautiful grounds suitable for an emperor.
If you’re planning your own trip from Paris, it’s an easy day out and a lot less crowded than Versailles.
