Hello! I’m planning my first ever two week solo trip to the South Islands in NZ in early-mid Nov, with a focus on hiking, outdoor activities and scenic views! I’ve adjusted my itinerary multiple times and would love some opinions on how feasible my trip would be (feasible as in, would it be do-able without missing out too much/rushing too much for 2 weeks).
I think the Wanaka to Franz J drive will definitely take most of the day, especially if I’ll be stopping in between to see the lakes and falls, but I’m hoping after my night in Wanaka, I’ll be well rested to travel and am flexible with whether i decide to rest for the entire day after getting there, or having the energy to at least see Lake Matheson or the Franz J Glaciers (not the hike).
Is there anything else nearby Wanaka that I could see within the day when I arrive?
I also wanted to aim to stay in Kaikoura for the night and do some kayaking before I leave for Christchurch and depart the next day, so I’m pretty set on the dates and activities for Day 12-13.
All opinions are well welcomed!
