We heard great things about Luxuryescapes.com and booked a room for new years in QLD Australia through them. We paid in full and soon after the hotel contacted us to tell us the room will not be available (in 3 months time) due to a water leak. Hotel is now trying to convince us to downgrade to an inferior room. We have now asked both the hotel and LuxuryEscapes for a refund.
Does anyone have any experience with getting a refund from LuxuryEscapes? Should we just accept they wont refund and seek a chargeback from the credit card company?
We normally book direct with hotels to avoid this sort of nuisance. Is this common when booking through LuxuryEscapes? Is their business model based on bait and switch?
It could have been worse and we only found out when we arrived! Glad we can still arrange alternate accomodation elsewhere.
