A man is fighting for his life one week after a serious crash in Enfield that left a second man dead. The Metropolitan Police were called to Chase Side at around 12.40am on Sunday, September 20 following reports of a crash between a car and a pedestrian.
Several people were treated by London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance before being taken to hospital. A 48-year-old man, who was a passenger in the vehicle, has since died.
Another passenger, a man aged 31, remains in a life-threatening condition. Officers arrested a 32-year-old woman on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving with a specified controlled drug above the prescribed limit one day after the crash.
She was further arrested in interview for failing to stop and has been released on bail while enquiries continue. Detectives are now appealing for witnesses to get in touch.
Detective Inspector Simon Ager, from the Serious Collisions Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with the man’s family and loved ones as they come to terms with this devastating loss.
“We are working hard to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
“Any information you have could be vital in our investigation.
“I am asking anyone who was in the area at the time, or may have captured CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage to contact police as this information could be crucial.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 259/20SEP. Anonymous reports can be made to Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111 or the charity’s website.
