Cafe Maghreb, a North African-inspired supper club and purveyor of artisanal Moroccan goods, is working on a new location in Los Angeles at 5158 W. Hollywood Blvd.
Maati Zouitina recently submitted documents to the Los Angeles City Planning Department for the former home of Savyon Cafe. The filing requests administrative clearance under the Restaurant Beverage Program to allow the sale and dispensing of alcoholic beverages for on-site consumption in conjunction with a restaurant. An opening date has not been announced.
Cafe Maghreb was founded by Majda Belaroui and began as a pop-up concept centered on Moroccan food and culture. Previous events have included hands-on workshops, multi-course Moroccan meals, and wine pairings from Morocco. The supper club experience has also included storytelling and shared dishes.
Zouitina is a Los Angeles-based sound designer, architect, and co-owner of Zizou, a French Moroccan restaurant and wine bar in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood. Belaroui and Zouitina are working together on the new Cafe Maghreb project.
They have not yet announced additional details about the Hollywood Boulevard location, including its menu, design, and opening timeline.
