Just a few weeks after opening its first San Francisco restaurant at Fisherman’s Wharf, Raising Cane’s is opening another location at Stonestown Galleria. The fast food chain plans to open in the former McDonald’s space at 255 Winston Drive on Oct. 12, according to a news release.

The Louisiana-founded chain known for its chicken fingers, crinkle-cut fries and Texas toast plans to celebrate its grand opening at the mall with freebies for customers who line up early, including Cane’s merch and free Cane’s for a year for a lucky few. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will also include local high school and college cheerleaders.

The new restaurant’s design includes artwork inspired by nearby schools, such as San Francisco State University. The mall eatery will be open late: until 2 a.m. from Sunday to Wednesday, and until 3:30 a.m. from Thursday to Saturday.

“The response to our Fisherman’s Wharf opening showed us how much excitement there is for Cane’s in the City, and we’re proud to keep building on that momentum with a Restaurant that celebrates this Community and supports organizations making a meaningful local impact,” Chris Zygler, Raising Cane’s regional leader of restaurants, said in a news release.

The 255 Winston Drive space was home to a McDonald’s for 30 years until it shuttered in 2024. Last fall, Stonestown gained a wave of new stores, including shoe store DSW and eyewear retailer Jins, along with the return of fast fashion brand H&M. Korean skin care and makeup brand Moida also recently announced plans to open at Stonestown in November — one of its first locations to open in Northern California, with the other set to open in Daly City’s Serramonte Center in December.

Raising Cane’s has been on an expansion tear recently, with plans to open nearly 100 new restaurants in 2026. The chain has existing Bay Area locations in San Francisco, Oakland, Hayward, Colma, Fairfield, Vacaville and Morgan Hill, as well as two in San Jose.
