Sushi lovers, rejoice. There’s a new Japanese dining concept opening soon in Charlotte that promises endless sushi, sashimi and ramen, plus hibachi favorites.

Mr. Tokyo Premium will kick off its soft opening phase on Wednesday, Oct. 7, with an official grand opening celebration planned for Oct. 12-14, the restaurant posted on its social media.

The all-you-can-eat spot will debut at 8724 Outlets Blvd. in Steele Creek, near the Charlotte Premium Outlets. The space was formerly home to 37 SOL, a restaurant serving Mexican eats with a Southwestern flair.

The latter was part of the broader SOL Southwest Kitchen brand, which debuted its first and only Charlotte restaurant back in 2017. A Yelp page for 37 SOL suggests the restaurant closed sometime last year, though it’s unclear when.

SOL Southwest Kitchen has a remaining location in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.

Mr. Tokyo Premium will bring a much different feel to the space in Steele Creek. The restaurant bills itself as Charlotte’s “first premium all-you-can-eat Japanese” dining experience and offers a wide selection of sushi, nigiri, sashimi and more. There’s even a full sake bar.

“Whether you’re craving fresh salmon sashimi, specialty sushi rolls, a hot bowl of ramen, or hibachi from the grill, there’s always something else to try,” its website says.

Beyond dining in-store, customers will have the option to order ahead online and pick up their food at the restaurant. Delivery options via UberEats and DoorDash are in the works, too.

CharlotteFive reached out to Mr. Tokyo Premium for more information on Tuesday but didn’t immediately hear back.

It’s the latest all-you-can-eat sushi spot to find a home in metro Charlotte, joining spots like Shinjuku Station in University City and Suki Fusion in Pineville. Kura Sushi, a tech-forward revolving sushi bar with more than 100 menu items, also debuted in Ballantyne this summer.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
