The 49ers are playing their first true road game of the season, and Seattle’s Lumen Field should be quite an environment to welcome them.
After traveling to Melbourne, Australia to face the Los Angeles Rams, the 49ers played three games at home, so this showdown with the Seahawks will introduce them to an unfriendly crowd for the first time.
Last season’s interactions with Seattle left a bitter taste for the Niners: They lost at home in the regular-season finale to be pushed to a wild-card spot, suffered a blowout loss in the divisional playoff round, then saw the Seahawks win the Super Bowl at Levi’s Stadium. But the season also opened with a thrilling win in Seattle.
On this visit, they won’t have Nick Bosa, the man who sealed that victory with a sack, as he is rehabbing a calf injury. Fellow defensive end Mykel Williams, however, could make his season debut after tearing his ACL last season.
Also out for the Niners are fullback Kyle Juszczyk and Marques Sigle, who were injured last week against Denver.
Seattle has won three of its first four games despite losing Sam Darnold to a hip injury early in their season-opening win over the New England Patriots in a Super Bowl rematch. The former 49ers backup returned in Week 3 as the Seahawks lost on the road to Washington, then beat the Chargers at home last week.
